Opis:
The study maps cyber-aggressors in elementary and secondary schools, with regard to an analysis of cyber-bullying forms. The aim of the presented empirical research was to identify pupils in the research sample who had committed repeated aggressive behaviour towards another person via the Internet, as well as to find out significant differences in individual cyber-bullying forms by gender and attended school forms. The research sample consisted of 390 pupils of elementary schools and 541 pupils of secondary schools. Empirical data were collected with the use of the questionnaire method. 96 cyber-aggressors were identified in the research sample. They were pupils who ticked one or more statements relating to cyber-bullying forms, admitting that they had repeatedly used them. It was found out that the most frequent cyber-bullying form was insults, threats and name-calling in online communication, thus the so-called flaming

Opis:
The study presents an analysis of teachers’ tendency to label gifted pupils. A questionnaire was used at the level of lower secondary education. It was aimed at teachers’ educational strategies in the area of enriching the curriculum for gifted pupils, and teachers’ tendency to label gifted pupils. In conclusion, labeling does not belong to educational strategies of most teachers. Gender, pedagogical qualifications and the length of teaching experience do not influence teachers’ tendency to label gifted pupils. Teachers from specialized schools for gifted pupils have a stronger tendency to label them. This tendency is weaker in the case of teachers from small schools.

The study focuses on pupils’ aggression towards teachers. The goal of the study was to determine a statistically significant relationship between the forms of aggressive behaviour and the age of teachers and the length of their teaching experience. The research sample consisted of 268 teachers of elementary schools, secondary vocational schools and grammar schools in the region of Banská Bystrica. Results revealed a statistically significant negative relationship between teachers’ age and the years of teaching experience in three forms of aggressive behaviour: refusal to obey instructions, intentional disruption and ironic remarks. A statistically significant relationship was observed between the length of teachers’ teaching experience and destruction of school property.

Opis:
This article presents research on value preferences of eleven-year-old fifth grade pupils. Differences between two groups of gifted pupils were observed - between 71 contemporary pupils and 229 pupils in ELSPAC in the years 2002 - 03. The identical identification criteria were used in the selection of both groups. By selecting questions from the ELSPAC questionnaires we compared the value preferences data of both of the gifted groups. We were dealing with research questions: which values the gifted prefer in friends, which priorities of life values they have, and which one is the most important for them. No statistically significant differences were found in the comparison of the majority of the values of the two groups. In the evaluation of friends, all the respondents most preferred the item “how you get along“ and then “their reliability“. The most significant difference was found in the item “the gain from your friendship with them“ which moved from the 15t to the 5t place in 10 years. No statistically significant differences were found in the question of life values between the two groups of gifted children in our data set except for the item “personal property,“ which was more important for the gifted of 2012. The most important value for both of the groups was “family relations“ ahead of the item “health“ and “having friends“.

Opis:
The article describes qualitative research analyzing causes and consequences of labelling gifted pupils. Causes and consequences were identified after an analysis of semi-structured interviews with gifted pupils, their classmates and teachers. Identified causes included certain pedagogical strategies such as excluding a gifted pupil from a group of their peers, using specific names for classes, excessive media coverage of specialized classes and pupils. Labelling was further promoted by a curriculum differing in its content, processes and materials offered to gifted pupils only. Consequences of labelling included ostracism and ridiculing of gifted pupils by their classmates, rivalry and hostility. The article concludes with proposals which might help to reduce labelling.

Opis:
The research aimed to find out the manifestations and rate of occurrence of problem behaviour among pupils with specific developmental learning disabilities in teachers’ reflections. Differences in the rate of occurrence of pupils’ problem behaviour were compared with regard to their current level of education, position in the class, and academic achievement. Data were gathered by content analysis of text documents – pupil pedagogical profiles including the Conners Rating Scale for teachers (1969, 1999). Data were processed by SPSS, the method of statistical inference, Mann-Whitney U-test, and Kruskal-Wallis analysis of variance. A variability of SLD pupils’ behaviours was discovered. The most pronounced manifestations included internalising problem behaviours; externalising problem behaviours were mostly disruptive and inattentive behaviours. SLD pupils with poor academic achievement were characterised by significantly more frequent manifestations of problem behaviour.

Opis:
The paper discusses the importance of independence of thinking and acting, so in the school education as in the scientific work. In broader understanding independence means such an attitude of the intellect, emotions and will that makes one willingly undertake different tasks-problems and realize-solve them in a responsible way. Thus independence means the steady disposition to intellectual and practical activity in schools, universities and in the research work. When this activity is emotionally positive, it may create the basis for the development (in the process of school-university education) of scientific, social and moral convictions and attitudes, necessary not only for understanding the universe and for changing it, but also for the development of wisdom, which may be understood as harmony between to have and to be, among material needs and moral values.
