Opis:
The main ideas of this article are the following: (1) Education in a knowledge-based society takes place in a technology-based society. Therefore, we must pay attention to the technological possibilities and changes. (2) On the one hand, the technological “reality” forms the prevailing culture. On the other hand, the cultural patterns of action and using influence this technological “reality”, change it, adapt it to the cultural “environment” (interaction of technology and culture). (3) These actual processes of change include two (ideal) forms: (a) the adjustment of existing cultural resp. social patterns to the new technological possibilities (persistence of the “traditions”); (b) the recombination of existing and the appearance or arising of (complete) new cultural resp. social patterns (surprises, mostly no foreseeable/ predictable). (4) Cultural changes are not an automatic resp. direct result of technological possibilities. The use of these possibilities depends on the competencies, the values a. s. o. of the user(s); this is fundamentally influenced by the existing culture. – On this basis, the article at first will show some trends and problems in the current development of ICTs. Secondly some cultural and social implications of these trends will be discussed (examples: “evaluation and selection of a / the technological solution”, “important criteria of IT-security”, “security/safety culture” and “tacit presence”). Some conclusions finish the reflections.

The core of interest in the article concerns the new dimensions of teachers’ roles. It is considered in the context of the concept of the knowledge-based society. The authors consider the nature of the relation between personal and professional competences and how they contribute to effective teaching as well as participation in professional learning communities. The main assumption is that personal competences pre-empt professional ones and enable teachers to fulfill the roles which are perceived in the different dimensions.

The author discusses problems that hinder the formation of modern, information-based society and educational reform it requires. The reform in education must be oriented towards implementing a drive for lifelong education and preparing young people for living in a society based on knowledge and free-market economy, but also - in the world of chaos of values and axiological emptiness, where they will have to bear responsibility for their own complete development. Activities undertaken by European and Polish authorities in order to aid the educational reform are also discussed.

Opis:
In the past decade, the inventory of concepts from the sphere of educational, social and political writings has been enriched with the new concept of the role of education in the post-communist transformation in Poland and other countries of Middle and Eastern Europe. Polish membership in the European Union has contained a long list of various social, cultural, education and/or political problems related to Polish accession to the European Community. In recent years after the events of 1989, until the Polish accession to the EU, a mismatch between the system of education and the system of market economy has become a universal phenomenon in Poland. Unfortunately, there are also signs indicating that the educational expansion does not mean a superior role of the human factor in the socio-economic development of society. As a result, the young generation manifest dissatisfaction and very often frustration generated by their difficulties in fulfilling their social and professional aspirations. This paper discusses selected social aspects and consequences of increased possibilities of transforming educational and economic reality in Post-communist Poland, at the time of the global asymmetry. Constant search for solutions to the problem of young people’s successful preparation for work and life in the market economy of the 21st century, as well as for their proficiency in maintaining contacts with financial institutions constitutes focal interest of this draft. It includes analyses of the possible development of social infrastructure, which is bound to shape ‘the education for tomorrow’.

Opis:
The article presents the role a multimedia message plays in social, computer mediated communication. This kind of communication is a dominating one in information civilization, which creates societies of knowledge, information and communication. Information technologies and their product - multimedia (understood as programming tools and multimedia message) raised possibilities of building a new, multimedia form of information transfer which enables to pass on information in a way that is most friendly and useful for a recipient but at the same time it creates a danger of information distortions if the rules of its construction are unknown. Multimedia message is characterized by frequent exchange of a sender (a message creator) role with a recipient (a code reader) role. This is caused by changeability of context and possibility of changing information structure in the process of interaction. Due to this transformation, it is difficult to place a multimedia message within a classic model of information transfer. The study presents the place a multimedia message occupies in the process of social, computer mediated communication. It emphasizes the necessity for shaping new, communicative competences that would allow to communicate effectively both within the network and via it. These new, communicative competences are understanding sent messages and creating own ones in a way that enables their proper interpretation.

Polish contemporary school, being subject to reform, now faces a difficult task of preparing students for their functioning in a dynamically changing reality. Apart from the tasks in the field of education and care, it also seems crucial to perform a pro-employment function. The introduced article takes the sociopedagogical stand, in which strong emphasis is put on social support for students (pro-social activity of the institution) and treating altruism as a crucial pedagogical task.

Opis:
The article introduces the author’s reflections related to the New Norwegian School Reform 2006, made public as “Knowledge Promotion”. The article is based on close study of public documents, newspapers, interviews, and focuses on children’s needs and children’s human rights of being children in a complex society in which school is a vital part. The article draws attention to the diversity of values in our society nowadays, and asks how school should match rivalry between different values? An economic way of thinking; buying and selling, greed, egocentricity, money and power, career, status, time constraints and stress in competition with solidarity, care, togetherness, a sense of belonging and fellowship. The author makes conclusion as follows. “Knowledge promotion” rewards “smartness” in a narrow range of subjects, and implements a view of values that rewards pupils that do well in academic subjects, a view that rewards knowledge that can be tested – school is a marketplace where “what counts is what you can count”.

Opis:
The article, based on a systematic analysis of the problems of national education in the age of information society and digitalised education, reveals the significance of the human paradigm, which is the conceptual core and the major platform for the educational process under the regime of aggravation. The convergence of education and information technology produces not only new areas of knowledge, pedagogical tools and teaching methods but also large-scale transformations in social practice. Like any social change, the digitalisation of education has a variety of consequences - from positive to negative ones. It is shown that the digitalisation of education, which meets great hopes not only in Ukraine and Poland, can be productive only if an anthropocentric algorithm is dealt with. Along with the huge and not much-studied possibilities of digitalisation of education, it is proved that many problems and risks are associated with the total introduction of the “digital” in the educational system. These are social, psychological, health, organisational and methodological risks, and some problems with the reduced quality of education. However, the ethics-related risks are perhaps the most dangerous among them. As regards this, it is proved that the humane paradigm, as a paradigm of the integrity of knowledge that provides values and goals of education, is a guarantor of the harmonisation in many processes related to translating information and knowledge into a digital form. The humane paradigm is the basis of the genetic connection of knowledge, skills, digital literacy, moral imperatives, and life values, which in a synergetic algorithm contribute to students’ effective development, systematic thinking, and socialisation. The three most important blocks of educational problems in the discourse on modern cyber-socialisation (transformation of the worldview component of education, reconstruction of the content of education, imbalance of educational and didactic processes) are outlined, and the ways and mechanisms of solving them are suggested. Implementing integrated strategies within the humane paradigm (which is the nourishing source of each of these blocks) might result in the idea of the so-called “new humanism” in education.
