Opis:
Traditional education in the United States has been largely influenced by the Industrial Revolution. Educational technology helped prepare students for the industry. The modern information technology revolution has created a need for a different type of education, one that helps the student acquire the skills to process and use information to solve problems. One approach to education that does this is constructivism, an approach to education that helps students learn the structure of knowledge. Exemplary use of educational technology can be used to accomplish this goal. Exemplary lessons stimulate higher-order thinking to solve problems. Examples are provided that demonstrate this.

PowerPoint is a widespread multimedia presentation tool, but using it effectively for e-learning purposes requires a focused approach. This study incorporated the multimedia technology into PowerPoint on demand and explored the relationship between the use of PowerPoint presentation and the maintenance of student interest and motivation in university lectures. The evidence of tests and a questionnaire suggests that PowerPoint is pedagogically effective only by means of diverse presentation and stimulating interest with the use of appropriate multimedia technology in the learning environment. The results provide useful guidance for developing e-learning courseware.

The barriers of using Information Technology by teachers in schools have been classified in the article into technical-communicative, cultural and intellectual. Intellectual barriers were particularly emphasized, pointing to clear defects in teachers’ suitable methodological preparation. The number of causes of rejection by IT teachers as well as teachers of other subjects were presented together with the reasons for rejection of introducing and using IT in school. Analyzing teachers’ views concerning the introduction of IT into the education system, constant establishing of the cultural pattern was indicated. This pattern functions in schools and has roots in memory teaching.

Opis:
The main ideas of this article are the following: (1) Education in a knowledge-based society takes place in a technology-based society. Therefore, we must pay attention to the technological possibilities and changes. (2) On the one hand, the technological “reality” forms the prevailing culture. On the other hand, the cultural patterns of action and using influence this technological “reality”, change it, adapt it to the cultural “environment” (interaction of technology and culture). (3) These actual processes of change include two (ideal) forms: (a) the adjustment of existing cultural resp. social patterns to the new technological possibilities (persistence of the “traditions”); (b) the recombination of existing and the appearance or arising of (complete) new cultural resp. social patterns (surprises, mostly no foreseeable/ predictable). (4) Cultural changes are not an automatic resp. direct result of technological possibilities. The use of these possibilities depends on the competencies, the values a. s. o. of the user(s); this is fundamentally influenced by the existing culture. – On this basis, the article at first will show some trends and problems in the current development of ICTs. Secondly some cultural and social implications of these trends will be discussed (examples: “evaluation and selection of a / the technological solution”, “important criteria of IT-security”, “security/safety culture” and “tacit presence”). Some conclusions finish the reflections.

This paper deals with using information communication technology at different levels of English courses in A. Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Kazakhstan. The use of information communication technology enables students to expand their language study. Students expressed their positive opinions about the benefits of using information communication technology. Realizing the value of the students’ positive opinion about using the information communication technologies in the learning process, conditions should be created for them to have the chance to broadly use them in modern education. This study explored how social networking technology can be used to supplement face-to-face courses as a means of enhancing students’ sense of community. Data was collected from 102 students of engineering and pedagogical faculty who enrolled in these courses. Findings indicated that the majority of participants developed strong feelings of social connectedness and expressed favorable feelings regarding their learning experiences in the classes where social networking sites were used as a supplementary tool. Learner difficulties and concerns of instructors about the educational use of social media are addressed with recommendations for future research and practice.

The article examines the impact of microlearning technology on students’ motivation. The experimental (microlearning technology) and control (traditional learning) groups compared the study results. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine the answers to the motivation scale and to identify the significance of differences in students’ answers in the control and experimental groups. The Scheffe method was used to determine the source of differences in the responses of the study groups. The analysis of the study shows that microlearning technology has better results due to greater student engagement and learning motivation than traditional learning.

The need to use other grading methods that will help to certify and/or qualify teachers’ grades in extensive groups of students led us to implement peer assessment. Our research was carried out over the last two years, and the students assessed one of the practices among themselves, using one of the tools from a virtual teaching platform. Their grades were subsequently analysed to see if they showed similar results to the teachers’ grades, by means of a correlation analysis. The high correlation found suggests that teachers could take the students’ grading into account if necessary.

Influence that information and communication technologies exert forces changes on educational system and at the same time education is searching for new, modern and innovative solutions. Integration processes that go along with this are additional force that makes responding to new challenges inevitable. It is impossible for each citizen to create his/her own, well-formed knowledge and to take responsibility for this activity without a fundamental change in education system, e.g. without resigning from teaching in aid of developing learning processes and shaping the ability to absorb future technologies. The article presents pedagogical and social aspects of changes which take place in the area of information technologies and influence they exert on extending the man's educational space both internal and external one. It touches on issues related to penetration of mediated space and cyberspace into it and formation of new forms and methods of communication.

It is important to understand information and communication technology (ICT) and digital resources in classroom teaching and learning processes. Pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards ICT and digital resources in teaching and learning processes are important for positive attitudes in students towards these tools. The study employs a mixed methods study targeted teachers who have completed their internship training to understand the knowledge, attitude and usage of ICT and digital resources tries to find a correlation between these three facets. It employs a questionnaire with validated tools for measuring attitude, knowledge and usage of ICT and Digital Resources and the results are tabulated. Using statistical analysis of mean and standard deviation, the study affirms a positive correlation between Knowledge, attitude and usage of ICT and Digital Resources by Pre-Service teachers.

In this study, “Self-Efficacy Belief Scale in Science Teaching” was used, which was developed by Enochs and Riggs (1990). The study was designed based on experimental design with pretest-posttest control group. The scale was applied to 78 pre-service teachers enrolled at the 3rd grade of Niğde University Faculty of Education Department of Elementary Education as a pretest before the implementation and as a posttest after the implementation. It was found that technology based teaching materials were effective on science teaching self-efficacy beliefs of pre-service elementary teachers only as much as the teaching materials designed by teachers.

The topic Theoretical Concepts, Sources and Technical Background of E-learning is discussed in a project of the Czech Science Foundation. A research team from three Czech universities (University of Ostrava, Charles University in Prague and University of West Bohemia in Pilsen) is working on the project. Its aim is to summarise theoretical concepts, to analyse sources of content, to assess methodological background and to search for technical solutions how to transfer some titles of current courseware into electronic version and to evaluate the efficiency of procedure. The methodology of transformation can help authors of study materials (not only e-learning), they may benefit from old instructional programmes.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of students’ teams – achievement divisions, team assisted individualization and traditional instruction on students’ conflict resolution and empathic tendencies. 240 5th grade students from three different schools participated in the study. To investigate the effect of different teaching approaches on 5th grade elementary school students’ conflict resolutions and empathic tendencies, conflict resolution (CRS) and empathic tendencies scales (ETS) were applied to the groups as pre – and post-tests. Students who experienced students’ teams – achievement divisions and team assisted individualization showed significantly higher mean scores in the dimension of problem solving in post-CRS and for post-ETS and low scores in the dimension of aggression in post-CRS than students who experienced traditional instruction.
