Opis:: Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings grow under two different regimes of N fertilization, and were artificially inoculated with Thelephora terrestris Fr. fungus. Higher percentage of mycorrhizal colonization possessed seedlings that were inoculated and grown in lower level of N. The highest growth parameters (length of shoots and dry weights of shoots) had seedlings that grew in higher level of N, and had not been given to inoculation by T. terrestris. Mycorrhization enhanced needles nutrient content, such as: P, K, Ca, and Mg.

Opis:: Three methods were used to assess silvicultural quality of two−year−old Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.). The assessment was based on measurements of biometric parameters, colonisation level of micorrhizas and electrical impedance of cambial tissues of shoots. The applicability of these methods with special reference to micorrhizal colonisation and impedance methods, which so far were not used in the assessment of the planting material, was analysed.

Opis:: Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings which were inoculated with ectomycorrhizal fungus – Thelephora terrestris and grown in different regimes of N fertilization [Hilszczanska, Sierota 2006], next year were planted out on post−agricultural land. The development of fine roots after 6 months of vegetation, number of mycorrhizas, identity of some mycorrhizas and growth parameters of Scots pine seedlings were studied. Mycorrhizal abundance was higher in the inoculated previously variants than in non−inoculated ones. PCR RFLP analysis confirmed share of two different isolates of Thelephora engaged in mycorrhizal symbiosis. Growth parameters was higher in non−inoculated seedlings. Vitality of seedlings was lower at lower level of N fertilization in non−inoculated treatment.

Opis:: The article compares the impact of production technique, planting material, soil type and moisture on the growth of pine seedlings. The material used in the experiment comprised pines grown in containers to which controlled mycorrhization with the fungus Hebeloma crustuliniforme was applied, as well as pines that had not been mycorrhized. The seedlings were grown in pots on two types of substrate (forest and post−agricultural soil) varying in cohesiveness and fertility. Four moisture levels (20%, 30%, 40% and 50%) were adopted.

Opis:: The objective of the research was to study the Armillaria root rot dynamics in the experimental plantation with Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings non−mycorrhized and mycorrhized with the fungi Hebeloma crustuliniforme and Laccaria bicolor. It was demonstrated that eight years after planting, the container−grown pine seedlings mycorrhized with the fungi H. crustuliniforme were affected by the Armillaria root rot disease in relatively lesser degree in comparison with the seedlings subjected to such treatment.

Opis:: Studies on the possibility of the assessment of phenolic bioindicators were conducted to determine the level of mycorrhization of Istebna Norway spruce seedlings with the fungus Hebeloma crustuliniforme using Kowalski’s method. The effect of the genotype and mycorrhiza on growth parameters and nutritional metabolism of 2−year−old Istebna spruce seedlings was evaluated. Acetophenolic glycoside and resveratrol can be important physiological markers determining the condition and quality of mycorrhized seedlings.

Opis:: The changes of N, P, K, Ca and Mg content in Scots pine needles over 4 years of the experiment were estimated in 2 treatments – inoculated in laboratory with the ectomycorrhizal fungus Thelephora terrestris and non inoculated (control). The seedlings were grown in a greenhouse for one season and then planted out into post−agricultural soil. Statistically significant differences were found only for Mg concentration in needles of two−year−old initially inoculated seedlings. For both treatments N and K concentration differed between all analysed years of growth. In the case of P and Ca concentration differences were found neither for treatments, nor for years. Four−year−old inoculated seedlings had lower concentration of all investigated nutrients with the exception of Ca. In both treatments the concentration of nutrients was at optimal level for four−year−old seedlings’ growth. Obtained results suggest that environmental conditions as well as plant metabolism may influence the nutrient concentration in the needles more strongly than their uptake by ectomycorrhizal symbionts on the roots.
