The arlicle deals with the problem of determination of the associative and figurative structures of the poetic language with the extralingual factors. Based on the materiał of the functions of the names of kinship in the language of the Ukrainian poetry of the 20th century, the author analyzes two key models of the metaphorical use of these wordspoetisms with which the phenomena of ideologization of the poetic context are connected in generál and the new mythopoetics in particular. The use of the names of kinship in the structure of the poetisms-ideologemes is represented in eonnection with the processes of the development of the poetic and generál linguistic semantics of the names of kinship which render the meanings of “patriot”, “native”, “friendship”. The poetic functions of the genitive and comparative metaphors with the names of kinship háve been analyzed.

Opis:
The paper deals with the relations between poetic language (especially obscenity and scatology) and the social milieu of the recipients of the bourgeois poetry. The humour and the comic are precisely the basic sphere where representations of human sexuality occur. In this context, a distinct reduction o f the comic fields connected to sexuality in the 16th and 17th centuries is vital. Literature is one more testimony of the increasing division into the “sophisticated” and “vulgar” (both in regard to subjective reference as well as to the language used here). “The Civilizing Process” (N. Elias) expressed the elite’s urge to separate from the masses on the level o f custom and language. Further on, the “carnival” language admired for its specific “vitality” (a “popular” spirit is often attributed to it) becomes marginalized - the 18th century classicism is here the crowning of this process. On the other hand, one should be aware that the “subversive” use of the language code is inscribed in the registers o f the early culture. In this period, the “serious” culture of the elites still combined the texts that expressed for instance certain principles of courtly love with their opposites, that can be called burlesque, grotesque or with less justification, realistic. This rule is reflected by collections of bourgeois poetry, including such texts. Not only values o f knightly (or noble) code, “high erotica”, expressed in the official literature, should be included in this “high culture”, but also elements which are their parodies and opposites that sound low and not high. If those texts - mistakenly perceived as “popular” - are being called “camivalesque”, this is only by virtue o f an attempt at positive valorisation o f texts with a predominantly obscene character.

While still under the spell of Jacąues Prevert’s intriguingly unsophisticated Alicante, and in relentless pursuit of uncovering novel strategies for creating literary beauty, I decided to subject the poem to a minutę scrutiny in the hope of ferreting out the secret stuff “holy simplicity” is madę of. Much to my surprise, “lurking” behind this sancta simplicitas I fo- und a fine network of complex pattems, each carefully designed to interact with the rema- inder in a flawless manner, thus considerably enhancing the potency of the ensemble. The following are several of the major pattems involved: dichotomous partition into sexuality and spirituality; colour-related symbolism; word play; dual-nature semantic pattem of keywords (signalling interweaving of libido-related and spirit-related zones); interplay of inherent and non-inherent readings of adjectives, of regular and irregular rhymes, or of verses with different-numbered feet (even and odd); effective intermingling of lexemes which synergetically appeal to four human senses.In the second phase, my research was steered away from fathoming the miracle of creating “holy simplicity” towards investigating the sustained toil of recreating it in a diffe- rent language: Romanian. The two subsections devoted to the topie in question submit to the reader Gellu Naum’s translation of Alicante, and the one originating with nonę other than the author of this contribution respectively. A brief comparison of the two renditions has yielded the following points of dissimilarity: a) Naum’s is a true-to-spirit translation, whereas minę has been created with the genius of the target language in mind. Herefrom stem the main contrasts listed below. b) Naum keeps on the fruit (Fr signifier orange, Rom signifierportocala), while I madę so bold as to replace it by the equally exotic mango for reasons specified under 111.2 below (s. also substitution of noptiera (= bedside ta- ble) and dormitory (= bedroom) for masa (Fr table) and pat (Fr lit) respectively. c) Naum completely disregards the pun in linę 4, whereas I did not think twice about slightly modi- fying the rhythmic pattem in order to be able to render the former into Romanian.d) Likewise, Naum translates in utter defiance of the rhyming pattem, whereas to me ob- serving it is a matter of prime importance.Needless to say, I am quite willing to take both the blame and the credit - if any — for the vast array of meanings I took the liberty to read into Prevert’s poem, as well as for the translational licences resorted to in the hope of successfully putting these unique connota- tions across to the reader.The concluding section discusses still a further possibility of recreating Prevert’s Alicante, namely by setting it to musie. In this respect, Chuck Perrin’s rendition has the ad- ded advantage of enhancing its lyricism, while concurrently taking the poem to that ma- gical space hovering above the spiritual.

Opis:
This páper attempts to interrelate culture (as a set of values produced and received by a specific community, including its artistic and literary production) and language/speechculture/cultiva on. Its point of departure is the classic hierarchy of styles, the differentiation between high style (which is associated with cultivated, and in Czech, exclusively standardlanguage expression), middle and low style. Low style is characterized by the use of non-standard. slang and expressive means and vulgarisms, and currently extends into Czechliteratuře; the style characteristics o f which, in addition to the non-standard means listed above, are contributed to by a significant amount of English loanwords, trendy words and phi ases (often from the media and advertising spheres). The use of all means of low style by the younger generation o f Czech authors is motivated by cnrical attitudes towards thecontemporary consumption-oriented society. This is documented in the páper through examples irom two playwrights (David Drábek, Petr Kolečko) and two poets (Karel Škrabal, JanTesnohlídek, Jr.). The critical orientation of the authors is directed toward the lifestyle of the society - it is, of course, a question, how to evaluate their work from the perspective of languageculture/cultivation.
