Opis:
Mentalization is a multifaceted cognitive activity that enables individuals to interpret the behaviors of others (and their own) in terms of intentional mental states. A person who engages in mentalization is aware that human behavior stems from one's mental state. The capacity for mentalization begins to develop in childhood, primarily through secure relationships with caregivers, but it can be cultivated throughout life, including through functioning in a mentalizing environment, such as a school. This article aims to address the question of whether developing the ability to mentalize can support the functioning of students, parents, and teachers in the school environment. Findings from previous research and interventions conducted in various parts of the world not only provide an affirmative answer to this question but also identify the characteristics of a mentalizing school that caters to the need for future-oriented education.

Opis:
The article presents considerations focused on the broadly understood relationship between religiousness/spirituality and health - primarily mental health, although issues related to physical health were also discussed. It addresses, among others, the issue of potential benefits resulting from participation in religious practices - in this context, particular emphasis was placed on the sphere of social relations and social support that can be obtained from other members of the religious community, which can be perceived as a factor that may play a key role in the process of coping with various life difficulties and the resulting stress. The final part of the article presents the potential mechanisms underlying the relationship between religiousness/spirituality and health.

Opis:
Student burnout is an issue rarely analysed in Polish literature, and even fewer studies take into account the knowledge of parents about such an educational problem. So far, only a few studies have focused on the psychological characteristics of parents related to school burnout, such as the quality of family relationships, attachment style, parental attitudes or upbringing style. However, there are no studies in the literature that take into account both the children’s and the parents’ psychological characteristics associated with school burnout. Therefore, the main aim of the current study was to test whether mental health and parental professional functioning characteristics are related to the student online school burnout syndrome during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis covered 29 parent-adolescent dyads. In the entire group of respondents, the significant relationship between the student burnout symptoms perceived by parents and the online school burnout from the students’ perspective was confirmed. Student burnout with distance learning correlated positively with the mental health problems of parents and negatively with the well-being of students. Student burnout from distance learning did not significantly correlate with work flow and online job burnout of parents. The findings indicated the importance of the simultaneous evaluation of the problem of educational burnout by the parent-adolescent dyad. In this context, the active involvement of parents in preventive interventions regarding the mental health of their children can be an important factor contributing to minimising the risk of developing school burnout symptoms.

Opis:
The paper evaluates a digitally-supported pedagogical tool for promoting well-being from the perspective of students (N=428) and teachers (N=43) from nine secondary schools in five European countries (Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Lithuania, Bulgaria). Each of the eight thematic modules (decision making, coping with anger and aggressiveness, conflict resolution, stress management, self-esteem and self-awareness, collaboration and teamwork skills, empathy, communication skills) included in the online educational training was evaluated. Students demonstrated high satisfaction with the tool; however, there were differences between modules (Self-esteem and Stress management were the most appreciated, Communication the least). The students’ assessment was influenced by age, gender and national differences, while the teachers’ evaluation of usefulness and sustainability was influenced by nationality. Digitally-supported school-based programs can promote well-being among adolescents; however, the interventions need to address differences between boys, girls and nationalities in order to be effective. Teachers, as an immanent part of school life, should be engaged in promoting health programs.
