    The article describes the retro- and perspective of place names in the Podolia Voivodeship. Studies show that this area belongs to Ukrainian territories settled a very long time ago but because of geographical, social, historical, economic and other reasons this area is represented by the archaic place names of a later period. Derivational stems of place names demonstrate their archaic origins besides their historical ascertainment. The analyzed materials demonstrate that there is a small percentage of place names formed from composite words. This is the evidence that these place names could be lost because of the circumstances: the decline of settlements under the influence of anthropogenic factors, the renaming of geographical objects, a change of name because of different language factors (substantivation) and social factors (the change of the formant of the place name when its derivational stem is the same) etc. It is possible that a lot of the archaic place names are not registered in historical sources. In fact, the area of the Podolia Voivodeship is represented by place names of an archaic type of the 13th century. The amount of place names has increased every century. Some of them have declined but many more place names have been saved upto today.

    Opis:
    In modern Ukrainian surnames one can fi nd the diverse elements: Slavonic autochthonous names, Christian names, nicknames, etc. Ukrainian last names derived from the ancient Christian names are studied in the article. These names, getting into the Ukrainian language ground, underwent the phonetic transformation, the substantial quantity of folk variants were created from them. Currently the part of these proper names is out of the active use – functioning specifically as official variants of names, – however, they are preserved as folk variants of names, as well as modern Ukrainian surnames. The etymology of last names, deriving from the Christian names, is researched in the current article, names from which they were formed are defined, spreading of the names and the deriving surname forms from them is highlighted, and also the list of last names and geography of their usage is provided.

    Male proper names starting with the letter Х, as recorded in the lists of regiments in the Register of the Zaporozhzhya Army of 1649, have been examined lexicographically in the article. Their origin, phonetic and word formation changes have been considered, the number of bearers of each name in the Register has been specified, and the use of names in other written memorials from olden times to our time has been recorded.

    Linguistic expert examination is a kind of specialized linguistic research of textual materials or other linguistic objects undertaken to clarify issues that have juridical consequences. The paper gives an overview of the major types of forensic linguistic research performed by experts from the Ukrainian Bureau for Linguistic Expert Examination (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) over the recent decade. These types are as follows: 1) expert examination of disputed juridical documents, 2) expert examination in cases of protection of personal dignity and business reputation, 3) expert examination of appeals of illegal actions and violence, 4) expert examination in cases of threats and blackmail, 5) expert examination of dialogical texts (recordings of spontaneous speech, SMS messages, interrogation reports etc), 6) expert examination in cases of fraud, 7) expert examination in cases of stirring up interethnic hostility, 8) expert examination of documentary records of personal names, place names, other proper names, and 9) expert examination in cases of protection of a registered trademark. It is argued that a combination of semantic, structural and linguopragmatic approaches is a solid methodological foundation for competent expert investigations that serve as evidence in legal proceedings.

    У статті схарактеризовано актуалізацію різних форм кличного відмінка іменників у комунікативному просторі Українського суспільного радіо, що спричинено зміною формату його мовлення – переходом до безпосереднього (розмовного) спілкування у прямому етері авторів та ведучих програм із політиками, фахівцями різних галузей знань, незалежними експертами, простими громадянами. Констатовано широке використання етикетних слів пане, пані з власними назвами (особовими іменами або прізвищами) та загальними – назвами осіб за посадою, військовим чи вченим званням, іншими ознаками. Виокремлено труднощі і типові помилки у вживанні форм кличного відмінка деяких чоловічих та жіночих особових імен або двох власних назв – особового імені та по батькові. Відзначено нову тенденцію до послідовного розмежування форм кличного відмінка загальних іменників залежно від статі людини. Зроблено висновок про повернення в комунікативний простір Українського суспільного радіо морфологічної норми, що становить граматичну специфіку української мови.
    This article focuses on the study of various forms of the vocative case of nouns in the communicative space of Ukrainian public radio. The variety of forms of address is interpreted as a result of expansion of unofficial communication of authors and presenters with politicians, experts, independent experts, ordinary citizens. The paper proves the extensive use of etiquette words пане, пані with proper names (personal names or surnames) and common nouns – names of persons by position, military or academic rank, other characteristics. The author analyses difficulties and typical errors in the use of forms of the vocative case of some male and female personal names or two proper names – personal name and patronymic. The obtained results indicate the new tendency to consistently distinguish the forms of the vocative case of common nouns depending on the sex of the person. The author concludes that the morphological norm, which is the grammatical specificity of the Ukrainian language, returns to the communicative space of the Ukrainian public radio.

    У статті окреслено основні вектори дослідження й наукові здобутки політичної лінгвістики, які, демонструючи розмаїття підходів до вивчення відповідного феномену, оприявнюють і неусталеність термінологічного апарату. Наголошено на особливостях виокремлення жанрів політичного тексту загалом і проблемних моментах у найменуванні цих жанрів зокрема. Розгорнуто дискусію, пов’язану з дефініцією, кваліфікацією, класифікацією і т. ін. жанру, іменованого здебільшого слоганом. Узагальнено напрацювання зарубіжних і вітчизняних науковців стосовно дефініції таких понять, як „гасло” („лозунг”), „заклик”, „девіз”, „слоган” і, відповідно, „політичне гасло”, „політичний заклик”, „політичний девіз”, „політичний слоган”. До вихідних понять української політичної лінгвістики уналежнено терміноназву „політичне гасло”. Зразки відповідного малого жанру диференційовано на: 1) політичні власне гасла; 2) політичні гасла-заклики; 3) політичні гасла-девізи. Поняття „політичний слоган” розглянуто як данину моді, як результат глобалізаційних процесів і тісних зв’язків комерційної / політичної рекламної діяльності. Будьякий політичний слоган можна назвати політичним гаслом, але не кожне політичне гасло отримує статус політичного слогану, оскільки не кожен, так би мовити, слоган містить унікальну рекламну політичну пропозицію, не завжди рівноцінно відображає зміст політичної кампанії, політичного бренду, політичного „товару” чи „послуги”.
    The article is devoted to problem questions related to the young interdisciplinary field which received the status of political linguistics. The author describes the main directions of exploration and achievement of the scientific field and demonstrates a variety of approaches to the study of the phenomenon, at the same time manifesting the lack of its full scientific reflection in the linguistic area, as well as the instability of the terminological apparatus. The author emphasizes the classification features of genres of political text and problem moments of these genres naming. The discussion is opened around definition, qualification, classification etc. of the genre called mostly a slogan. The research generalizes the foreign and Ukrainian scholars’ work on the basis of the definition of such concepts as „haslo” („watchword”), „exhortation”, „motto”, „slogan” and, accordingly, „political haslo” („political watchword”), „political exhortation”, „political motto”, „political slogan”. The author proves that the term „political haslo” belongs to the original concepts of Ukrainian political linguistics. Examples of this small genre are differentiated on the basis of: 1) political haslo; 2) political haslo-exhortation; 3) political haslo-motto. The concept of „political slogan” is considered as a tribute to trend, as a result of globalization processes and close ties of commercial / political advertising. Any „political slogan” can be called a political haslo, but not every political haslo receives the status of slogan, because not every political slogan, as it was, contains unique advertising political proposal and does not always equally reflect the content of a political campaign, political brand, political „product” or „service”.
