Opis:
This paper presents the results of palaeobotanical studies (pollen and plant macrofossil analyses) of the sediments from sq the profile Michałowo P-3 (Gródek-Michałowo Depression, NE Poland). At this profile the second bed of peat under Holocene peat and the layer of silts and sands was discovered. The pollen succession indicates that they were deposited, with some gaps, from the beginning of Eernian Interglacial to Early Vistulian. The local pollen zones, distinguished in the pollen diagram, correlate with the regional pollen stratigraphy of the Eemian Interglacial, but the pollen record of hornbeam (ES R PAZ) and spruce (E6 R PAZ) regional zones is absent in Michałowo. In the middle part of the Michałowo pine zone (Mi-5 Pinus L PAZ), a cool oscillation of climate is marked by an opening of forests and development of herb plant communities.

Opis:
Re sults of geo log i cal and pol len in ves ti ga tions of the lake-bog sed i ments from the sec tion Wietrzychowice W5, located nearby the Neo lithic Fun nel Beaker Cul ture (FBC) mega liths, are pre sented. The pol len data re veal that sed imen ta tion at Wietrzychowice has be gun at the be gin ning of the Ho lo cene (Preboreal). Pol len anal y sis was used to determine stratigraphy with regard to sediment characteristics. The pollen spectrum was divided into 8 LPAZes (1-7Xa, 7Xb) which were also, where pos si ble, stratigraphically clas si fied. Ra dio car bon dat ing of 6 730 ± 90 BP (5 730–5 480 BC, MKL-702) at depth of 1.20 m con firmed the pol len anal y sis age es ti ma tion. Five set tle ment ep i sodes were found in or ganic sed i ments in the up per part of the W5 core. The first was pre sum ably dur ing the Preboreal, the sec ond in the early At lan tic, the third in the late At lan tic (prob a bly Neo lithic FBC), the fourth in the early Mid dle Ages and the last one in the late Mid dle Ages. The pol len anal y sis was use ful to point ir reg u lar i ties in sed i ment suc ces sion. Such a sit u a - tion made palaeoenvironmental in ter pre ta tion dif fi cult, but fur ther re search is still needed to en able an ac cu rate re construc tion.

Opis:
The Reserve Dury, Tuchola Pinewoods, Poland, includes five depressions with no outflow filled up with biogenie sedi- s q ments. They undergo terrestrialization processes to a high degree. In four of the basins there are still some open water areas surrounded by floating mire with raised and transitional bog plants. For the needs of protection service officers some palynological and geological research were carried out. All the geological cores were described in detail following the Troels-Smith system. The deepest core Dury I was selected for pollen analysis. Ten Local Pollen Assemblage Zones (L PAZ) show the history ofregional and local plant communities. On the basis of two air photographs, modem dynamics of floating mire in four basins were evaluated. The results allow us to correlate the geological layers, to describe the Late Glacial and Holocene succession of plant cover at Dury I site, and to show the stages of filling-in of basins with lacustrine sediments and peat.

Opis:
The main phases of the Late Gla cial and Ho lo cene de vel op ment of veg e ta tion in the Wigry Na tional Park were re con - structed based on the pol len anal y sis of sed i ments from three small dystrophic lakes (Lake Suchar Wielki, Lake Suchar II and Lake OElepe). At the cur rent stage of re search, the age of the stud ied de pos its was de ter mined by AMS radio car bon dat ing of few sam ples only. This meant that the chro nol ogy of the in ves ti gated pro files had to be es ti mated also in di rectly us ing their palynological cor re la tion with a ra dio met ri cally well-dated pro file from Lake Wigry. The ob tained pol len data con firmed the pic ture of the postglacial veg e ta tion changes of the Wigry Na tional Park, which was based on ear lier stud ies of Lake Wigry. Fur ther more, it doc u mented the ex is tence, mainly in the Preboreal and At - lan tic chronozones, of tem po rary changes in veg e ta tion, which might be a re ac tion to a short-lived cold fluc tu a tions of cli mate.
