Katolicki obraz Marcina Lutra na przestrzeni wieków ewoluował od zdecydowanie negatywnego w czasie reformacji i w wiekach następnych, poprzez próby teologicznie i historycznie pogłębionych analiz inspirowanych ruchem ekumenicznym, aż po współczesną akceptację wielu jego teologicznych postulatów. Współczesne kierunki rzymskokatolickiego myślenia o Lutrze dobrze streszczają historycznie wyważone i dogmatycznie pogłębione opinie ostatnich papieży: Jana Pawła II, Benedykta XVI i Franciszka. Idąc za tekstami uzgodnień Komisji luterańsko-katolickiej na forum światowym, ekumenicznie otwarci papieże potrafią dostrzec w Marcinie Lutrze człowieka głęboko religijnego, świadka Ewangelii, którego myśl teologiczna nie utraciła swej aktualności i jest wyzwaniem dla współczesnego zsekularyzowanego świata.
The Catholic image of Martin Luther in the course of the centuries evolved from the literally negative one during the time of the Reformation and the centuries that followed, through the theological attempts and historically in-depth analyses inspired by the ecumenical movement up to contemporary acceptance of several theological postulates. Contemporary movements of Roman-Catholic thinking of Luther well summarize historically vulnerable and dogmatically deepened opinions of the recent popes: John Paul II, Benedict XVI and Francis. Following the agreement texts of the Lutheran-Catholic Commission at the world forum, ecumenically open popes can find out in Martin Luther a profoundly religious man, the witness of the Gospel whose theological thought is still relevant and a challenge for the presently secularized world.
Das katholische Bild von Martin Luther veränderte sich von einem äußerst negativen in der Zeit der Reformation durch theologisch und historisch vertiefte Versuche von Analysen, angeregt durch die ökumenische Bewegung, bis zur heutigen Akzeptanz vieler seiner theologischen Forderungen. Die gegenwärtigen Tendenzen des römisch-katholischen Denkens über Luther werden am besten durch die historisch sowie dogmatisch fundierten Aussagen der letzten Päpste zusammengefast: Johannes Paul II., Benedikt XVI. und Franziskus. Im Geiste der Konvergenzen der Katholisch-Lutherischen Dialogkommission auf der Weltebene sehen diese ökumenisch aufgeschlossenen Päpste in Martin Luther einen tief religiösen Menschen und einen Zeugen des Evangeliums, dessen theologisches Denken nach wie vor aktuell bleibt und eine Herausforderung an die säkularisierte Welt von heute ist. - Źródło:
