Opis:: The aim of the paper is to show the history of Polish gay novel and explain the very term. However, the essence of the research problem is not the history itself, but drawing attention to the need of adopting a multidimensional perspective in the deliberations concerning homosexuality in general (including gay novel). An interdisciplinary approach to the issue enables one to make observations concerning the impact of social and political realities on literature, while at the same time to analyse a work of art as a statement in public debate on homosexuality and homosexuals.

Opis:: The notions of inter- and transdisciplinarity represent categories which the humanities frequently resort to in the discourse, but which remain difficult to define. The attempts to do so are most often associated with subscribing to one of the possible models of interpreting relationships between individual disciplines of science. Mieke Bal’s concept of transdisciplinarity, which this paper discusses, envisages a framework where the privileged form of formulating scientific concepts would be in research practice that is rooted not only in the methodologies of individual sciences but most of all in the everyday practices and experiences.

Opis:: In the article, I discuss the title opposition nature–culture in the perspective of is-sues presented by the interdisciplinarity of science. I attempt to elucidate the definition of interdisciplinarity utilising certain ways in which the notion of science is construed, and indicating three levels of potential integration of interdisciplinary research: on-tological, methodological and theoretical. Apart from that, the article addresses the standpoints of reductionism and anti-reductionism as well as the questions of classify-ing scientific disciplines. The final parts of the text outline the possibility of conduct-ing interdisciplinary studies in the light of the language of action theory, which may become a concept which integrates various domains of scientific knowledge.

Opis:: Since the mid-twentieth century, there has been a discussion in the academy about “two cultures”: humanities and sciences and the so-called third culture. In this article I outline the history of this debate. I also present new trends in contemporary humanistic reflection: posthumanism and transhumanism, which are based on interdisciplinary research. I am also describing the projects and the output of several currents of contemporary art: robotic art, bio art and bio-robotic art.
