Opis:: The subject matter is analyzation of the phenomenon of mutual influences between the Czech, Slovak and Polish puppet theatre. This theme is inspired by the significant presence of Czech and Slovak artists on Polish puppet stage. Czech and Slovak puppet theatre have a long and rich tradition. Contrary, Polish puppet theatre has been created freely after the Second World War, without the burden of tradition what became inspiring for Czech and Slovak neighbours. The questions are: is this phenomena conditioned by opening of the borders between the countries, common cultural references to Europe, declining condition of Polish theatre, or is it a result of a constant cultural fluctuation?

Opis:: This paper considers the cultural heritage and global / local manifestation in urban spaces. It focuses on cultural monuments, phenomena, events and the image of the city, which form a historical continuum and the part of today's city culture with the overlap between global and local elements, forms and functions. Global and local manifestations enable compliance or conflict that may promote, encourage, even out or damage cultural heritage. Municipal institutions, NGOs, individuals and foreign investors and entrepreneurs enter into this process. The paper is the result of field research in Zvolen located in central Slovakia.

Opis:: The Pol’ana Biosphere Reserve is situated in Central Slovakia. In its southern part, in the scattered area, the town of Hriňová was built, and its districts became part of the biosphere reserve and the protected natural area. For the residents it means both benefits and disadvantages. This article analyzes the situation of 2016 when the Biosphere Reserve area was expanded under the UNESCO program.

Opis:: The study aims to describe a history and original forms of pre-muslim Persian New Year-Novruz, as well as its changes affected by migration experience of the original holders. We are interested in its role in creating community identity in the case of the Afghan diaspora in Slovakia. The findings suggest that in the new environment, there is a number of changes in the formal side-the absence of certain habits, their simplification and rationalization, the incorporation of major culture elements. In a term of significance, this holiday takes a new relevance and reflects the degree of the community integrity.

Opis:: For centuries, traditional means of transport have been tightly connected to traditional peasant culture. The work of a farmer has always represented not only the means of adaptation to the natural environment and the acquisition of essential articles of food and raw materials, but also the realization of one’s cultural identity. Over the centuries, it has acquired its typical features and has become distinct within several regional forms. This has been reflected in the traditional means of transport related to the daily annual cycle of a farmer’s work, as well as various non-agricultural opportunities. The aim of the study is to summarize the knowledge within the field of traditional transport in Slovakia during the first half of the 20th century, exemplified through some typical transport aids. It aims to point out their manifold utilization and their gradual adaptation to the changing natural, historical, and social conditions.

Opis:: The city of Banska Stiavnica and technical monuments in its vicinity were in year 1993 registered in the List of the World Cultural Heritage UNESCO (the mining region). The Salamander Parade in Banska Stiavnica as part of intangible cultural heritage of Slovakia represents specific and unique cultural traditions of miners that had formed during 150 years of existence of the Academy of Mining in Banská Stiavnica, during the following 80 years of active mining, and moreover, during 20 years following its finishing in 1993. The “Ausus” tradition nominated by the mining association Herrengrund is located in the mining settlement of Spania Dolina.
