Some of Asian economies, which in 80's and 90's of XX century experienced economic boom, still are the subject of scientific research. Article examines the peculiar characteristic of these economies, which on the one hand is regarded as the reason ofunprecedented dynamic economic growth, on the other hand is the source of destabilization. This characteristic is the crony capitalism. In the article issues concerning the phenomenon of crony capitalism are introduced and also the most obvious symptom of this issue: corruption is discussed in some economies of East Asia and the Pacific.

In the volatility of economic development as in any other phenomenon, a regular component and an incidental component can be distinguished. The former consolidates main factors while the latter is related to random factors. It can be achieved by constructing a precise model, where the random factor isn't statistically significant. The economic development was described by means of model ARMA(1,1). Subsequently, model AARCH(3,2) was used to characterize all kinds of variations. The components of this model were examined and attention was paid to any delays which occur in the creation of the trend and amplitude.

In economic literature concerning crisis, a renaissance of Keynesianism can be ob-served. The purpose of the article was to verify the hypothesis of Keynesianism’s revival by analyzing the chosen works of subject’s literature. This purpose was achieved through presentation of key elements of Keynes’s legacy, the assessment of its signifi-cance measured in contribution to the development of economics as science, and also the utility of Keynesian theory, understood as the possibility of its adaptation for stabilizing the economy in the current crisis time. The analysis carried out in this article leads to a conclusion that although references to Keynes’s recommendations are visible in the stabilization policy, it has not caused long-lasting changes in the structure of economics as a science. istniejące bezrobocie, oraz twierdzenie, że biedni cechują się większą krańcową skłonnością do konsumpcji niż bogaci, co oznaczało, że redystrybucja dochodu mogłaby zwiększyć produkcję i zatrudnienie.

The essence of the conception "luxury goods" is considered in this article. The classification of luxury goods with taking into consideration citizens' status of the country is considered and offered. The constructing of linear model to evaluate readiness to purchase goods and luxury by Ukrainian and Polish population is carried out. Modern conditions of luxury goods market development in the examined countries are estimated. Ways of perfection of supply and demand of luxury goods in home markets of Ukraine and Poland are offered.

The scope of activities used in the active labour market policy in recent years has been substantially altered as a result of the clash of opposing tendencies. On the one hand, the financial crisis limits the availability of financial resources, on the other - the deterioration in the labour market increases the scale of investment required for the implementation of the employment policy. There has been a substantial increase of the demand for financing of passive labour market measures, which is contrary to the achievement of the ambitious goals of employment accepted by the Europe 2020 Strategy. This reduces the evaluation of the effectiveness of labour market policies and the degree of achievement of its objectives for the period 2007-2013.

Crisis is a test on efficiency and stability of political system, on its ability of reac-tion against instable balance and conflict. The last economic crisis caused in Germany an employment decrease that could be observed mainly in the production sector, whereas the service sector experienced a slight employment increase. A more precise analysis of particular branches of this sector facilitated the formulation of the opinion that most jobs have been created in public services, especially in the areas of health protection, social welfare and education. That means in such areas, where the sensitivity for being affected by economic factors is the lowest. Women benefited the most from the employment increase in the mentioned branches, where their professional activity is traditionally high. Thanks to this advantageous situation it was possible to alleviate the strong tendencies of the employment decrease in the remaining sectors of the German economy, particularly in branches of industry involved in production of export goods.

Właściwe ramy instytucjonalne umożliwiają sprawne funkcjonowanie rynku oraz stymulują rozwój gospodarczy. Jednakże w wielu krajach wysoko rozwiniętych, zwłaszcza w Europie Zachodniej, w minionych latach wyraźnie pogorszyła się jakość instytucji i narastały poważne problemy ekonomiczne. Tymczasem niektóre kraje słabiej rozwinięte, a w szczególności ChRL, znacznie poprawiły jakość swoich instytucji i doświadczyły szybkiego wzrostu gospodarczego. W tym kontekście Polska powinna kształtować takie instytucje, które pozwolą jej w pełni wykorzystać posiadany potencjał i przezwyciężyć względne zacofanie gospodarcze.
A proper institutional framework is necessary to secure efficient functioning of the market and to stimulate economic growth. However, in many highly developed countries, especially in Western Europe, the quality of institutions significantly worsened in the past years and serious economic problems were growing. In the meantime, some less developed countries, particularly the PRC, considerably improved the quality of institutions and experienced fast economic growth. In the context of recent events Poland should shape institutions with the aim of realizing country’s full potential and overcoming the relative economic backwardness.

Article deals the global economic crisis of 2008-2012 affected almost all regions of the world, most of all it affected the economy of the USA and European countries whose governments have taken coordinated measures to overcome the situation. An interventionist strategy, implying the extension of state regulation of market processes was based in the basis of actions of the EU.
Artykuł dotyczy problemów światowego kryzysu gospodarczego w latach 2008-2012, obejmującego niemal wszystkie regiony świata, a przede wszystkim jego wpływu na gospodarkę USA i krajów europejskich, których rządy podjęły skoordynowane działania w celu przezwyciężenia zaistniałej sytuacji. Strategie interwencyjne oznaczały przedłużenie państwowej regulacji procesów rynkowych, przeanalizowanych na podstawie działań UE.

Celem artykułu jest ocena rozwoju rynku usług telekomunikacyjnych w Polsce na przykładzie usługi dostępu do szerokopasmowego Internetu. Uznano przy tym, że wzrost dostępności oraz rosnąca skala jego wykorzystania przez przedsiębiorstwa i gospodarstwa domowe daje większe możliwości budowania potencjału gospodarki i jej wzrostu. W części teoretycznej artykułu przedstawiono zagadnienia odnoszące się do wpływu telekomunikacji na gospodarkę. Cześć teoretyczna dała podstawy do analizy wybranych wielkości z 2010 i 2014 r., dotyczących rozwoju szerokopasmowego Internetu w Polsce. Wnioski z niej płynące dotyczą kwestii stanu rozwoju infrastruktury, dostępu tej usługi oraz zakresu jej wykorzystania przez przedsiębiorstwa i gospodarstwa domowe.
The aim of this article is to evaluate the development of the telecommunications market in Poland based on development of the broadband. It was assumed that the greater availability of this service and increasing the scale of its use by businesses and households, the greater the possibility of building economic potential of Poland. The theoretical part of the article presents issues relating to the impact of telecommunications on the economy. The theoretical article provided the basis for the analysis of selected data on the broadband in Poland in 2010 and 2014. The conclusions concern the state of development of infrastructure, access to this service and the scope of its use by businesses and households.

W artykule zaprezentowano uwarunkowania rozwoju społeczeństwa informacyjnego (SI) oraz związki między koncepcją SI a rozwojem gospodarczym. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań ankietowych gospodarstw domowych, przedsiębiorstw i administracji publicznej zidentyfikowano kluczowe czynniki determinujące rozwój SI w Polsce. Zbadano zależności pomiędzy miernikami SI i rozwoju gospodarczego w wybranych krajach europejskich.
The article presents determinants of information society (IS) development and relation between information society and economic development. Based on survey conducted in households, companies and public administration entities key factors for IS development in Poland were identified. Correlation between measures of information society and economic development in selected European countries was examined.

Artykuł stanowi analizę specyfiki chińskiego modelu rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego, a także przedstawia główne kierunki przemian, jakie nastąpiły w Chinach po 1978 r. Wskazano czynniki decydujące o szybkim wzroście chińskiej gospodarki, a także główne zagrożenia związane ze starym modelem wzrostu. Przedstawiono najważniejsze aspekty planu gospodarczego na lata 2011-2015. Artykuł kończy analiza danych dotyczących poziomu rozwoju społecznego i innowacyjności Chin ze względu na fakt, że to konsumpcja prywatna, która będzie wynikać z poprawy jakości życia, oraz innowacyjność mają zgodnie z założeniami władz stać się motorami dalszego rozwoju Chin.
The article is an analysis of the specifics of the Chinese model of economic and social development. It presents the main changes that have taken place in China since the year 1978. In the article there were indicated factors responsible for the rapid economic growth as well as the main risks associated with the 'old growth model'. There were presented the most important aspects of the economic plan for the period 2011-2015. The article concludes with an analysis of basic data on the level of social development and innovation of China, as the private consumption, as result of improved quality of life, and innovation may become driving forces for further development of China.

In the article the economic effectiveness was described, paying special attention to its static and dynamic take and meaning for the appropriate description of the economic reality. The article critically presents a conception of static effectiveness and the welfare economics based on this concept. Essential dilemmas associated with the measurement and the evaluation of the economic effectiveness were shown. Moreover it is underlined, that the economic effectiveness in the dynamic take is an essential determinant of the efficiently functioning economic system.
