Opis:
The article aims to indicate different perspectives of film education. According to the author, three possible strategies can be identified: education to film (“film studies” strategy), education in film (“anthropological” strategy) and education through film (“hermeneutic” strategy). In traditional conceptions of cultural education, film education was treated as part of aesthetic education which highlighted the aspect of preparing the viewer as an “expert” with knowledge of the art discipline, corresponding to the “film studies’ strategy”. In the “anthropological strategy”, film is treated as a reflection of society, its fears, and dominant narratives. The viewer’s expectations are different and moreover the competence of the art theorist is replaced by knowledge of culture and society and the changes taking place within it. From an educational point of view, however, the most interesting perspective is the “hermeneutic” one that treats film as a partner in dialogue, when the educational potential of a film text is determined not by its “content” but by the “biographical capital” of the viewer.

Opis:
Emotional education in Poland is superficial, accidental and at times intuitive. Lack of emotional education classes and the governments’ low support of teachers have a negative effect on the treatment of emotional education as important in the development of a child in an early school age. Teachers, by trial and error, try to solve problems on the basis of their effect rather than cause, which often lies in the student’s emotions. Separating emotions from “rational” thinking is a pedagogical mistake. An adult’s awareness of the cognitive nature of emotion can affect not only the leveling up of emotional disorders, but also has impact on the child’s overall cognitive development. By using the most natural activities of music and movement, the student develops his emotionality with the verbalization of emotional experience. Awareness of the emotions experiences as well as their correct naming is the key to the success of emotional education for students.

Currently we are witnessing migration, which for different reasons exhibits a growth tendency. It does not just concern big cities, but also smaller towns, where we can encounter people with different cultural backgrounds, religion, dialect, and values. Multicultural education comes out to meet the expectations of the minorities and its main purpose is to create a platform for dialog and communication, as well as the composition of educational programs and multicultural upbringing. The article explains the situation of refugees, with emphasis on the education and upbringing of children. It provided examples of multicultural education implemented in a small elementary school from a County of Bielsk.

The article aims at presenting the integral approach to the health of Polish education leaders’ (head teachers) in light of Ken Wilber’s map (four classes of factors responsible for health), in the social-ecological model of health. Material and Methods: The Matrix of ReflectivenessDevelopment, an original self-observation schedule, was applied as a research tool. 46 head teachers were examined. Results: The results show that the respondents look after their own health the least. Relaxation is something they associate with mental health, while physical health is not high on their list of priorities. Conclusions: The respondents mainly focus on professional and family lives. Very little focus is placed on reflectionand an integral approach to health. The analysis of research results highlights the challenges that education at each level, including health education, must face.

The use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education during a pandemic has become a fact and a must. Before COVID-19 (for decades), the need to use ICT in education was po[1]stulated and suggested. Research carried out in this area resulted from the need to understand what technologies are potentially available for use in education, including the teaching and learning of mathematics. One important issue still to be resolved is whether and how to support children in their mathematical education using technology. This publication, referring to selected recent studies con[1]ducted worldwide, gives examples and arguments for technological support of mathematics learning.

The basic goal of the text is to follow the work strategy on selected pedagogical concepts as part of  educational discourses. I assume that within the framework of the functioning of discursive practices in education, a certain work is done, which flattens the conceptual grid regarding education. Thus, these concepts are unambiguous, boil down to the most direct, superficial and obvious meaning. The way of thinking about education, present in the dominant discourses located in the social circulation, causes that educational processes are devoid of meaning wealth. This is how it sets the playing field in thinking about education, designing educational policy and educational practice. The treatment, which is to restore the educational discourses to depth, aporethism, internal struggle, the element of contradiction is to launch a specific etymological work that reveals the fuller meaning of the basic concepts that build the educational imagination. Thanks to this, a certain contrast will also be created between the extracted meaning and those meanings that are promoted in the most varied discursive practices launched in the field of education

Inclusive education as idea of education appeared in the 1990s. The main aim of inclusive education is full participation, opposition to exclusion of anyone from the possibility of education together with their peers, in their place of residence. It draws attention to the necessity to change the educational policy. In the inclusive education most important are needs (special needs) and oportunities of students, and support. One of the important conditions for the implementation of the idea is proper preparation of teachers for inclusive education. Analyzes of international experience indicate that there are similar problems in most countries. It is worth to recognize them, to take systemic action as soon as possible leading to the change of unfavorable indicators in Poland.

Faith institutions play a vital role in shaping social structure, social capital and social cohesion. Both religious and citizenship education can contribute to making good citizens. The latter is more political oriented, while the former is focused on faith, spirituality and morality. The English model of religious education is oriented towards a multi-faith dialogue, without the aspects of worship and confession. The phenomenological approach assures that every child, regardless of their religious background, is obligated to attend religious education. Today, the UK is facing many challenges, including secularization and cultural differentiation of the society. Thus, the educational institutions revise curricula and aims of learning. The aim of the paper is to present and analyze the main premises of educational policy in the context of religious education in public schools in England. I will also attempt to reconstruct the social and political ongoing debate on the aims of RE.

This paper seeks to answer the question why Finland is considered to have one of the best education systems in the world. The author aims at providing a descriptive case study of Finland in comparison to the Polish educational system with some reference to other Western countries. The world first noticed Finland following the release of PISA results in 2001. Yet, PISA overview is just a starting point for this case study. The paper analyses different social, economic and political factors which, in the author’s opinion, contributed the most to the Finnish success in education. Major arguments for the Finnish success are preceded by an overview of educational reforms from the 1950s until the present. The author argues that the remarkably high social status of teachers, their autonomy and great qualifications, consistency in educational reforms which offer high quality, equity and decentralization are the primary reasons for Finland’s global success. All of the above achievements are compared to Poland’s current situation in education.

Opis:
The main purpose of this analytical paper was to highlight the ideas and phenomena in Polish theatre with regard to their role in civic education, and to determine the original qualities and peculiarities of this area of education through the arts. To that end, Fernand Braudel’s the longue durée (long-term) perspective was adopted and a problematized approach to chronology was used as the principal research method, which allowed to present issues related to development and importance of this substantial trend in education through the arts, which due to its artistic and social importance surely deserves the most important place in the history of Polish theatre. What I construe as civic education theatre is theatrical realization (using a specific language) of a system of values promoting public-spiritedness (the raison d’être of any human community) which is cultivated and enhanced by a given society and which impacts the spiritual life of its members. The analyses performed have shown that this prominent trend in the Polish drama and theatre, prevailing every now and then, and willingly used until this day, abounds in specific values of enormous importance embedded in the history of the Polish culture and the Polish spirit, created by outstanding artists; it is a legacy having no equivalent in other countries. Over the centuries, it has served as the foundation of the nation’s spirituality, becoming the platform for civic political discourse, a symbol of the Polish cultural community, a means of transmitting historical tradition, a significant component of cultural identity, a substitute for social and political life, building self-knowledge and aspirations of a national community. Moreover, a concise review of historical traditions and peculiarities of civic values promoted by theatre in the Polish culture confirms the relationships between the arts and history of different nations, between Polish cultural tradition and our tragic history, between the nation’s identity and human independence in personal and social terms. The analyses are performed in the spirit of education interpreted as a totality of values promoting and protecting public-spiritedness; regarding the examined theatrical trend as the major tradition in the history of Polish theatre; fundamental belief in the national and social function of the Polish theatre; consequently, understanding contemporary theatre as the outcome of the cooperation between progress and tradition. In view of the ongoing globalization and unification processes, awareness of the uniqueness of the major trend in the history of the national theatre and irreplaceable values Polish society may contribute to the multi-cultural European community appears to be one of the major challenges faced by Polish culture and education.

The article discusses searching for solutions related to the university education of preschool and early school teachers in a time marked by intense and unpredictable changes. The fluid reality we live in poses an important challenge for those responsible for teacher training, requiring them to prepare teachers to deal with constant changes and remain open to what is yet to come. In a constantly changing reality, it is difficult to predict which competencies teachers will need in the next decades of the 21st century. It is certainly worth the effort to focus on fostering the passion and developing the personalities of future teachers working with children of preschool and early school age. The education process should also take into account the needs and expectations of the new generation of teachers, representing what the literature of the subject describes as “generation Z”. Apart from including theoretical considerations, the article is an attempt to showcase selected solutions developed at the Faculty of Educational Studies of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

The genesis, essence and directions of criticism of the concept of meritocracy are presented. The article points out that the ideology of meritocracy, despite its egalitarian assumptions, which undoubtedly contributed to the democratization of education, especially at the higher level, confirms social inequalities.
