Opis:: Upbringing plays an important role in everyone's life, therefore, the priority of actions undertaken should not only be associated with the educational aspect but also the upbringing aspect. This is due to the rapid development of our civilization, which makes it necessary to engage in constant decision-making and have the ability to distinguish positive and negative values. The aim of the prepared material is to show the important role of Natural Sciences in the educational process as an element of upbringing.

Opis:: Environmental education, frequently referred to as ecological education, is commonly associated with the description and shaping of human rela¬tionships with the natural environment. It points to the examples of anthro¬pocentric transformation of nature and the consequences thereof. Deeper analysis leads to the conclusion that the existing emphasis of environmental education was on natural aspects, while neglecting no less important social issues, including human health. This article is devoted to demonstrating the interrelationships and dependencies of environmental education and preventive healthcare, from definition through to various activities and finally effects. The article clearly promotes being active, highlighting the importance of being involved in the development of gardens, which are important both in terms of the protection of the natural environment, through the development and diversification of the landscape, and in the maintenance of good physical and mental condition. In summary, the article puts forward the notion that in going through life, it is worthwhile to really care about one’s health and the natural environment, especially since one is dependent on the other

Opis:: Man, wanting to progress, must educate himself, the sense of attaining education is formed both by „the deeper desire in the human being”, which leads him to reflect on the subject of God and by the will to study natural sciences, which have permanently changed our way of thinking about the world surrounding us and about ourselves. In the process of cognition faith cannot take the place of reason, nor reason the place of faith, these are two ways of arriving at the truth, which must collaborate in agreement with each other, thus education should concentrate on outlining the relation between theology and natural sciences. Such complementing leads to the cognition and fathoming of the truth, and this, besides the attainment of wisdom, is one of the main assumptions of education.

Opis:: The article addresses a very important issue, being the lack of a specific environmental protection scientific discipline in Poland. The actual situation in this extent is analysed and compared to the solutions of the EU based on the systematic basis accepted by the OECD. Opis:: Both the development of the civilization today as well as the lifestyle of the society based on the consumption do not always involve the behaviors dealing with providing the mental picture of lives according to the laws of nature and its respect. The causes of this situation may result from a variety of educational negligence and the materialistic lifestyle created by the mass media. The level of consciousness can be significantly improved due to the competent preparation of the future teachers to realize the issues of the ecology and of the “sustainable development” in the educational process. There was an investigation carried out to find out the level of the respondents’ knowledge and to get the comprehensive knowledge on the required problem, i.e. if and to what degree the students of the natural science specializations were prepared to realize the issues of the sustainable development. The number of 297 students was involved in the investigation. They represented the following specializations: biology, geography, and chemistry in their universities.
