Opis:
Zaman and Bulut (2018a) developed a class of estimators for a population mean utilising LMS robust regression and supplementary attributes. In this paper, a family of estimators is proposed, based on the adaptation of the estimators presented by Zaman (2019), followed by the introduction of a new family of regression-type estimators utilising robust regression tools (LAD, H-M, LMS, H-MM, Hampel-M, Tukey-M, LTS) and supplementary attributes. The mean square error expressions of the adapted and proposed families are determined through a general formula. The study demonstrates that the adapted class of the Zaman (2019) estimators is in every case more proficient than that of Zaman and Bulut (2018a). In addition, the proposed robust regression estimators based on robust regression tools and supplementary attributes are more efficient than those of Zaman and Bulut (2018a) and Zaman (2019).The theoretical findings are supported by real-life examples.

Opis:
The unrelated design has been shown to improve the efficiency of a randomized response method and reduces respondents’ suspicion. In the light of this, the paper proposes a new Unrelated Randomized Response Model constructed by incorporating an unrelated question into the alternative unbiased estimator in the dichotomous randomized response model proposed by Ewemooje in 2019. An unbiased estimate and variance of the model are thus obtained. The variance of the proposed model decreases as the proportion of the sensitive attribute ?_A and the unrelated attribute ?_U increases, in contrast to the earlier Ewemooje model, whose variance increases as the proportion of the sensitive attribute increases. The relative efficiency of the proposed model over the earlier Ewemooje model decreases as ?_U increases when 0.1??_A? 0.3 and increases as ?_U increases when 0.35??_A? 0.45. Application of the proposed model also revealed its efficiency over the direct method in estimating the prevalence of examination malpractices among university students; the direct method gave an estimate of 19.0%, compared to the proposed method’s estimate of 23.0%. Hence, the proposed model is more efficient than the direct method and the earlier Ewemooje model as the proportion of people belonging to the sensitive attribute increases.

Opis:
The estimation of population parameters might be quite laborious and inefficient, when the sample data have missing values. In comparison follow-up visits, the method of imputation has been found to be a cheaper procedure from a cost point of view. In the present study, we can enhance the performance of imputation procedures by utilizing the raw moments of the auxiliary information rather than their ranks, especially, when the ranking of the auxiliary variable is expensive or difficult to do so. Equations for bias and mean squared error are obtained by large sample approximation. Through the numerical and simulation studies it can be easily understood that the proposed method of imputation can outperform their counterparts.

Opis:
In this paper, two modified, design-based calibration ratio-type estimators are presented. The suggested estimators were developed under stratified random sampling using information on an auxiliary variable in the form of robust statistical measures, including Gini’s mean difference, Downton’s method and probability weighted moments. The properties (biases and MSEs) of the proposed estimators are studied up to the terms of firstorder approximation by means of Taylor’s Series approximation. The theoretical results were supported by a simulation study conducted on four bivariate populations and generated using normal, chi-square, exponential and gamma populations. The results of the study indicate that the proposed calibration scheme is more precise than any of the others considered in this paper.

Opis:
This paper deals some linear regression type ratio exponential estimators for estimating the population mean using the known values of quartile deviation and deciles of an auxiliary variable in survey sampling. The expressions of the bias and the mean square error of the suggested estimators have been derived. It was compared with the usual mean, usual ratio (Cochran (1977)), Kadilar and Cingi (2004, 2006) and Subzar et al. (2017) estimators. After comparison, the condition which makes the suggested estimators more efficient than others is found. To verify the theoretical results, numerical results are performed on two natural population data sets.

Opis:
In ecological and environmental sampling the quantification of units is either difficult or overly demanding in terms of the time, money, workload, it requires. For this reason efficient and cost-effective sampling methods need to be devised for data collecting. The most commonly used method for this purpose is the Ranked Set Sampling (RSS). In this paper, a sampling scheme called Improved Paired Ranked Set Sampling (IPRSS) is proposed to estimate the population mean. The performance of the proposed IPRSS is evaluated under perfect and imperfect rankings. A simulation study based on selected hypothetical distributions and a real-life data set showed that IPRSS is more precise than RSS, Paired RSS (PRSS) or Extreme RSS (ERSS).

Opis:
In this research work we introduce a new sampling design, namely a two-stage cluster sampling, where probability proportional to size with replacement is used in the first stage unit and ranked set sampling in the second in order to address the issue of marked variability in the sizes of population units concerned with first stage sampling. We obtained an unbiased estimator of the population mean and total, as well as the variance of the mean estimator. We calculated the relative efficiency of the new sampling design to the two-stage cluster sampling with simple random sampling in the first stage and ranked set sampling in the second stage. The results demonstrated that the new sampling design is more efficient than the competing design when a significant variation is observed in the first stage units.
