Opis:
The problem of the estimation of the design-variance and the design-MSE of different estimators and predictors is considered. Bootstrap algorithms applicable to complex sampling designs are used. A generalisation of the bootstrap procedure studied by Quatember (2014) is proposed. In most of the cases considered in our simulation study it leads to more accurate estimates (or to very similar ones in remaining cases) of the designMSE and the design-variance compared with the original algorithm and its other counteparts.

Opis:
In this paper, the Horvitz and Thompson (1952) estimator will be modified; so that, the modified estimators will use the availability of the auxiliary variable. Furthermore, the modified estimators are extended to be used in stratified sampling designs. Empirical studies are given for comparison purposes.

Opis:
Minimal neighbour designs (NDs) are used when a response of a treatment (direct effect) is affected by the treatment(s) applied in the neighbouring units. Minimal generalised NDs are preferred when minimal NDs cannot be constructed. Through the method of cyclic shifts (Rule I), the conditions for the existence of minimal circular generalised NDs are discussed, in which v/2 unordered pairs do not appear as neighbours. Certain generators are also developed to obtain minimal circular generalised NDs in blocks of two different sizes, where k2 = 3, 4 and 5. All these designs are constructed using i sets of shifts for k1 and two for k2.

Opis:
Warner’s randomized response (RR) model is used to collect sensitive information for a broad range of surveys, but it possesses several limitations such as lack of reproducibility, higher costs and it is not feasible for mail questionnaires. To overcome such difficulties, nonrandomized response (NRR) surveys have been proposed. The proposed NRR surveys are limited to simple random sampling with replacement (SRSWR) design. In this paper, NRR procedures are extended to complex survey designs in a unified setup, which is applicable to any sampling design and wider classes of estimators. Existing results for NRR can be derived from the proposed method as special cases.

Opis:
This paper develops optimal designs when it is not feasible for every cluster to be represented in a sample as in stratified design, by assuming equal probability two-stage sampling where clusters are small areas. The paper develops allocation methods for two-stage sample surveys where small-area estimates are a priority. We seek efficient allocations where the aim is to minimize the linear combination of the mean squared errors of composite small area estimators and of an estimator of the overall mean. We suggest some alternative allocations with a view to minimizing the same objective. Several alternatives, including the area-only stratified design, are found to perform nearly as well as the optimal allocation but with better practical properties. Designs are evaluated numerically using Switzerland canton data as well as Botswana administrative districts data.
