Opis:
Recently, harmful levels of air pollution have been detected in many provinces of Thailand. Particulate matter (PM) contains microscopic solids or liquid droplets that are so small that they can be inhaled and cause serious health problems. A high dispersion of PM is measured by a coefficient of variation of log-normal distribution. Since the log-normal distribution is often used to analyse environmental data such as hazardous dust particle levels and daily rainfall data. These data focus the statistical inference on the coefficient of variation. In this paper, we develop confidence interval estimation for the ratio of coefficients of variation of two log-normal distributions constructed using the Bayesian approach. These confidence intervals were then compared with the existing approaches: method of variance estimates recovery (MOVER), modified MOVER, and approximate fiducial approaches using their coverage probabilities and average lengths via Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation results show that the Bayesian confidence interval performed better than the others in terms of coverage probability and average length. The proposed approach and the existing approaches are illustrated using examples from data set PM10 level and PM2.5 level in the northern Thailand.

Opis:
Log-linear models are used to analyze the relationship between two or more categorical (e.g. nominal or ordinal) variables. The term log-linear derives from the fact that one can, through logarithmic transformations, restate the problem of analyzing multi-way frequency tables in terms that are very similar to ANOVA. Specifically, one may think of the multi-way frequency table to reflect various main effects and interaction effects that add together in a linear fashion to bring about the observed table of frequencies. There are several types of models between dependence and independence: homogenous association, partial association, conditional association and null model. Expected cell frequencies are obtained with the use of iterative proportional fitting algorithm (IPF) [Deming, Stephen 1940]. The next step is to derive model coefficients for single variables as well as for interaction parameter and the most useful tool for interpreting model parameter is odds and odds ratio. Log-linear models are available in R software with the use of loglm function in MASS library and glm function in stats library. In this paper log-linear analysis will be presented with the use of available packages on empirical datasets in economic area.

Opis:
In this paper, a new three-parameter lifetime model, called the odd log-logistic generalised Lindley distribution, is introduced. Some structural properties of the new distribution including ordinary and incomplete moments, quantile and generating functions and order statistics are obtained. The new density function can be expressed as a linear mixture of exponentiated Lindley densities. Different methods are discussed to estimate the model parameters and a simulation study is carried out to show the performance of the new distribution. The importance and flexibility of the new model are also illustrated empirically by means of two real data sets. Finally, Bayesian analysis and Gibbs sampling are performed based on the two real data sets.

Opis:
In this manuscript, a group acceptance sampling plan (GASP) is developed when the lifetime of the items follows odd generalized exponential log-logistic distribution (OGELLD), the multiple number of items as a group can be tested simultaneously in a tester. The design parameters such as the minimum group size and the acceptance number are derived when the consumer's risk and the test termination time are specified. The operating characteristic (OC) function values are calculated (intended) according to various quality levels and the minimum ratios of the true average life to the specified average life at the specified producer's risk are derived. The methodology is illustrated through real data.

Opis:
Frailty models are the possible choice to counter the problem of the unobserved heterogeneity in individual risks of disease and death. Based on earlier studies, shared frailty models can be utilised in the analysis of bivariate data related to survival times (e.g. matched pairs experiments, twin or family data). In this article, we assume that frailty acts additively to the hazard rate. A new class of shared frailty models based on generalised Lindley distribution is established. By assuming generalised Weibull and generalised log-logistic baseline distributions, we propose a new class of shared frailty models based on the additive hazard rate. We estimate the parameters in these frailty models and use the Bayesian paradigm of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique. Model selection criteria have been applied for the comparison of models. We analyse kidney infection data and suggest the best model.
