Opis:
People instinctively sought to ensure their own security since the dawn of time. This simply existential need impelled people to seek new solutions for its assurance. You may say that the need for security shaped the attitudes of people, and greatly contributed to the current development of civilization. This article is dedicated to the strategic reserves of our nation and its role for the security of local communities in Poland. The primary problem, that has been addressed herein, is the possibility to provide strategic reserves in crisis situations, on the basis of analyses carried out by the Material Reserves Agency, taking place in recent years.

the paper is a preliminary evaluation of governmental program to limit crime and antisocial behaviour „razem Bezpieczniej” [“More Secure together”], which was completed 15 October 2015. It is an example of institutional influence on inappropriate social attitude. the paper’s hypothesis assumed that a change in attitudes in environments subject to a program does not necessarily have to be the result of actions of the “More Secure together”. the work is an attempt to assess the effectiveness for generation of positive change in the area of security and public order in the Pomeranian region.

hypothetical scenarios for an alternative future
analytical futurology
Opis:
Futurology (also futures studies) is a field of knowledge which has emerged as a result of the interdisciplinary problematisation of specific cognitive issues. The main objective of futurology is the creation of hypothetical scenarios for an alternative future in every aspect of human life, from changes relating to the life of an individual human being to changes within complex social structures, and, ultimately, in e.g. nations. The assumptions of cognitive futurology generally boil down to the maxim „probability and predictability in every aspect of human life”. In other words, the subject of futurological considerations encompasses all products of human activity, both material and abstract. However, here futurology is divided thematically and distinguished in accord with a given specific specialised task, e.g. within the framework of social anthropology (or, broadly understood, cultural studies) as well as of philosophy. Thus, one can point to popular futurology, or the popularisation of specific fields of knowledge through science-fiction literature, e.g. The Road (2006) by Cormac McCarthy. In addition to popular futurology, there is also analytical futurology, whose task is to create and analyse alternative futures. The proposed presentation will be devoted to this latter issue as well.

Opis:
Undoubtedly, one of the elements posing a threat to social security is the risk of losing the roof over one’s head, with unemployment in an extreme case, as well as being in possession of a flat that fails to meet the essential requirements. The paper will address the issue of eviction and the “Mieszkanie plus” (Flat plus) government housing programme, which is intended to support individuals who cannot afford to purchase their own flat. This paper aims to examine this initiative and indicate its potential influence on the process of acquiring flats by Polish citizens. It is also worthwhile to stress another significant aspect in the context of housing, namely the issue of structural safety of the particular rooms or buildings. Therefore, the threats to social security are associated not only with the mere possession of a flat but also with the manner in which it is used, which may result in a construction disaster.

Opis:
When virtual social relations and online interactions have increased in our age media also had a transformation. Social media is a phenomenon which came with wide usage of internet by modern society and individuals. On the one hand it has created opportunities for a more democratic way of communication, participation and dialogue between members of different socio-cultural groups, communities, friends and family members, colleagues, Etc.; on the other hand this new version of media has caused criminal risks, security gaps and vulnerabilities to contemporary threats varied from fraud to cyber-attacks, terrorism, identity theft, ransomwares and so on. Even “old types” of crimes in real life can begin from social media and virtual reality. All these problems are related to several subdisciplines of sociology: sociology of communication, sociology of crime, sociology of security are among them. In this paper we will analyze the topic though sociology of security’s prism. Also, we will discuss what can be the functionality of OPSEC as a measure, which has military background and widely used later on by civilian sectors including corporate security as well.

Opis:
Since 2015, the migration crisis continues with varying intensity, and international security crisis as well as debt, institutional, and personnel crises are worsening, not only in the Eurozone. Probably war, economic and climate immigrants will continue to move into the Schengen area, showing how helpless the European Union is. Angela Merkel said there was no upper limit for the number of people admitted to escape political persecution. Germany leaves the Dublin system inconsistently, runs counter to European cohesion and stops differentiating between immigrants and refugees. Migration is shared by the EU Member States. Between “old” and “new” EU countries, scissors are opened. Moreover, in some European regions (France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, Greece) there are closed communities where majority law is not valid. Our current socio-political and economic existence is based on a traditional understanding of security. However, in the third decade of the 21st century the image of prosperity and security is to be seen from a different perspective than in previous years. Dramatic development has led to the mass migration of African and Asian people and to the division of the European Union, especially regarding the mechanism of redistribution of asylum seekers.

Opis:
The article refers to the currently shaped issues of human personal safety in relation to threats arising from events and situations. At the same time, it points out that an exhaustive expression of the need for security is rather unfeasible because this scope in personal view will be categorized by: physiological properties, age, environmental and situational conditions, knowledge, and socio-cultural conditions, as well as life experiences. The author focuses in particular on the analysis of organized crime in Mexico and the impact of these structures on the personal safety of people, social, ethnic, and professional groups, indicating their causes. The rooting or deepening of the indicated social problems and the lack of perspectives to improve them means that the main assumptions of the security strategy, including among others public safety improvement programs, and thus personal safety, is a very complex and extended process. The analysis of the functioning of the Mexican state in the security sphere clearly shows that in this respect state institutions transfer this issue to the citizen. Fears for their safety result from the presence of criminal structures, shocking ones, their uncompromising attitude, sense of impunity, and ruthlessness towards anyone who has been defined by "crime syndicates" as a threat to their existence.
