    Opis:
    In the paper are shown analysis’ results of bedload transport variability during fl ood fl ow event observed in the Zagożdżonka River. The bedload measurement station, which is provided with bedload trap and instruments for continuous measuring and data recording, is located upstream of Czarna gauge station on research catchment area of Dept. of Hydraulic Engineering and Environmental Recultivation WULS. Based on measurements’ results of the fl ow and bedload transport parameters the correlation formulas (12) and (13) were determined, respectively for rising limb and recession of discharge hydrograph. For determination’s purpose of formulas (12) and (13) the Bagnold’s relationship (3) were used, modifi ed by author to the form (5), in which specifi c bedload discharge depends on specifi c stream power, hydraulic radius for river-channel bottom and median size of bed material.

    Opis:
    Using optical features of water and suspended sediment, series of imageries of Polish rivers (mainly of Vistula River) and Loire River in France were registered from aircraft, beginning from 1990, at fi rst with video- computer technique, later using the own aircraft system for fl uent digital registration of a terrain. In the selected examples were presented images of suspended sediment with spatial differentiation of its concentration in river, in the morphologically different stretches. There were suggested possibilities of use of the suspended sediment as a tracer in researches of hydro-morphological processes, for ex. sedimentation and evaluation of the ecological state of rivers. In the range of examples use of airborne photographs was presented to the identifi cation of sediment deposition zones in natural conditions and changed by human activity.

    Opis:
    Building roads and accompanying facilities in river valleys lead to partition and limitation of wild animals’ nesting sites. They also obstruct migration of certain spieces and organisms moving wit water. The task of water structures is to maintain damming as well as bed gradient, protect river bed against erosion and transport river sediment by dam section. This article analyses working conditions of overbuilt pipelines of culverts. Maintenance of road constructions, simplicity of execution, big repeatability of solution on utilization allowing the use of semi-fi nished elements are advantages. These conditions were examined with the aim to evaluate the degree of discharge limitation of the object by the passages for animals and sediment settled on the culvert’s bed line. Analysis of infl uence of building passages for animals in pipe culverts as well as amassed brash providing water organisms with maintenance of migration is discussed in the article. Presented analyses include study on infl uence of changes introduced in section of traverse pipeline on capacity of the object.

    On the border sector of Odra River between Chałupki town and Olza mouth unique meanders occur, with dynamic river-bed processes. As a result of the 1997-fl ood, the meander no. I was broken and the river route has been shorted. The authors sampled sediments from Odra river and evaluated incipient motion and suspension. At present, river-bed at entry to meander no I is armored. The resistance coeffi cients Ks i Kr and the bed load transport rate at Chałupki station have been estimated.

    In this review paper an aspect of constructed wetlands influence on retention of soil particles is presented. Most of “horizontal flow” – constructed wetlands over the world have been designed to treat municipal or domestic wastewater, but they are also successfully used to treat wastewaters from agriculture and various runoff waters. It is supposed, that constructed wetlands would be a useful, ecological tool to reduce solid transport in river flow, especially in areas close to Natura 2000.

    Opis:
    The scour below the dam is numerically simulated using an Eulerian two-phase model that implements Euler-Euler coupled governing equation for fl uid and solid phase and a modifi ed k-ε turbulence closure for the fl uid phase and comparison with laboratory results. The modeling system being a part of CFD software package FLUENT. Both fl ow-particle and particle-particle interactions are considered in the model. During the simulations, the interface between sand and water is specifi ed using a threshold volume fraction of sand. The predictions of bedform evolution are in good agreement with conducted laboratory measurements.

    The measurement’s and calculation’s results of sediment transport delivered from the Zagożdżonka River catchment into the Staw Górny reservoir are presented in the paper. The measured mean silting of reservoir in time period 1980–2003 was 1142 m3 per year. Prediction calculations carried out by using different empirical formulas shown a good compatibility of results obtained from calculation and measured of the silting of reservoir. The values of relative error, determinate for the mean annual volume of calculated sediment transport and measured silting of reservoir, are from –7.7 to +7.3%.

    This paper is devoted to the erosion process downstream the Jeziorsko reservoir on Warta river. It presents a short characteristic of Jeziorsko reservoir and water management and also hydrologic characteristic of Warta River. Results of measurements in situ in the period 1975–2007 are presented. River bottom levels and water levels in cross sections were measured. The characteristic of river bottom material is presented. Results of measurements before the construction of the reservoir are compared with of investigations results during reservoir operating time. The erosion process downstream the Jeziorsko reservoir causes the decrease of bottom and water levels in Warta River. The grain size of the river bed material increase because of the erosion process. To counteract the erosion process two sills were designed and realized. The impact of sills on of erosion process conditions in Warta River bed is presented in this article.

    Opis:
    The main areas on water structures in which sediment gathers are headwater, hollows in construction and tailwater. The processes of accumulation of upstream and downstream positions develop according to duration of the object’s exploitation. This article analyses working conditions of an elongated pipeline of culvert in Potok Służewiecki stream. These conditions were examined with the aim to evaluate the degree of discharge limitation of the object by the pipeline executed below an old construction of a road culvert under Łączyny street. The object of investigation is an old culvert under Łączyny Street to which pipeline was added. In the assembly chamber, on the rout of pipeline, a rainy collector is connected to the culvert. It is characterized by high changeability of transverse sections, bed line slopes and hydraulic conditions. An old section of the culvert has the largest capacity. The trash screen is another element that considerably reduces the capacity of the object. The tendency to segregating rubble occurs in the section of culvert. The largest sediments gather in the headwater position, near the outlet – the smallest. In the stream below the object sediments have a similar material composition to the one in the upper position. The theoretical curves of longitudinal line of slope counted with formula (2) divide the area of Fig. 2 in three zones. On the left and below the curve Jn37 the accumulation zone is located, in which the movement of sediment does not occur. Above the curve Jn60 in the right the zone of intensive sediment transport appears. Among the curves Jn37 and Jn60 the transitory zone is located, correspondive to the conditions in which erosive processes begin with growing intensity of fl ow or accumulation processes, when fl ow diminishes. For the fl ows, for which the counted gradient is larger than the gradient of water surface the diffi culties with transportation of sediment through the object may occur. In the opposite situation the transportation should continue without obstacles. Exceeding this fl ow does not guarantee, however, that an intensive carrying out of earlier accumulated bed material happens. The appearing of rinsing fl ows is an accelerating factor to this process.
