Opis:
This study analyzes the effects of the incorporation of the granite powder (GP) as a partial replacement of the sand in the concrete in percentages of 10%, 15%, 20% and 30% to carry out a mix design of 210 kg·cm–2. Seeking to find an optimal proportion to increase its mechanical properties where the geotechnical characteristics of the aggregates were identified, workability, temperature, beams and concrete specimens were elaborated. The results of bending and compression tests were compared after 7, 14 and 28 days from setting between the standard concrete and the concrete incorporated with the GP. It is concluded that the optimal result was at 20% GP with 268.6 kg·cm–2, where the compressive strength increases by 13%, while its flexural property rupture modulus of 35 kg·cm–2 and workability are in an optimal range according to the stipulated parameters, thus allowing an important application for this waste in the construction industry, therefore contributing to recycling, environmental quality and the development of the usage of new materials.

Opis:
Fiber’s addition to concrete mixture attracts researchers to determine the effect of fiber type on durability properties of hybrid performance concrete. In the present work, steel and polypropylene fibers are used in hybrid form in the experimental program. The objective of this paper is to investigate the mechanical properties of hybrid fiber reinforced concrete subjected to four various media: air, water, sodium chloride, and magnesium sulphate with a 7% concentration. The results showed that using hybrid fibers which consist of 1% steel fiber and 0.3% polypropylene fiber improved the compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength for different media for up to 360 days.

Opis:
Steel recycling saves energy and time, and is more environmentally friendly. It can help rid the environment of huge amounts of scrap vehicles and huge structures, as well as reducing the mining operations that destroy the natural environment. In this investigation, the steel scrap effect on the mechanical properties of concrete was investigated, in addition to investigating the variation in mechanical properties with increased concrete age. Three concrete mixes were studied: one without steel waste as a control, one with 1% steel waste by volume of concrete, and one with 1.5% steel waste by volume of concrete. The results show that adding waste steel to the concrete improved the compressive strength as well as the tensile strength, where a mixture which contains 1% of steel waste had an increase in strength of up to 12% and 23% by day 28 for compressive strength, and tensile strength sequentially in comparison to the reference mix. Furthermore, the results show that there was a significant increase in splitting tensile strength, at 29% on day 28 for a mix of 1.5% steel waste as compared to the reference concrete mix. The best improvement in compressive strength over time was obtained when using 1% steel waste. The best improvement in tensile strength over time was obtained when using 1.5% of steel waste. In both cases, the amount of the improvement was better than the models without steel waste, which gives us confidence in giving recommendations for conducting more in-depth studies to achieve the maximum advantage.

Opis:
A study was conducted to explore the effect of palm oil boiler ash (POBA) on foamed concrete by varying the percentage of POBA over sand quantities (0, 4, 8 and 12%). This paper primarily discusses the water absorption test, uniaxial compressive strength, and dry density findings. It indicates that substituting sand with POBA greatly enhances the strength of foamed concrete. When the quantity of POBA was raised up to 12% throughout all curing times, the compressive strength steadily increased in the range of 4.34–13.50 N·mm–2. Furthermore, the dry density of foamed concrete was shown to be directly related to the fraction of POBA in the mixture. The dry density of foamed concrete increases as the amount of POBA increases. Despite this, water absorption shown that increasing POBA increases water absorption percentage in foamed concrete from 7.4 to 10.4%. This is due to the fact that a composition with a high POBA percentage will generate more pores than a mixture with a low POBA percentage.

Opis:
This work focused on how self-compacting concrete (SCC) performs in situ in hot weather conditions at an ambient temperature of about 35°C. Tests for the rheological properties and compressive and splitting tensile strength aspects were carried out. The results of SCC mix ingredients on the rheological and hardened features of SCC mix were studied. Variations in the amount of portland cement content (CC), water to cement ratio (w/c), coarse to fine aggregate ratio (C : F), chemical admixture ratio, and pozzolanic admixture ratio were considered. Optimum values were obtained for these ingredients, which satisfied the SCC rheological characteristics and gave a 28-day compressive strength of 42 MPa, and 52 MPa after 28 days and 56 days, respectively. These optimum constituent values were 450 kg·m–3 of cement, 0.45 water cementitious ratio, and a coarse to fine material ratio of 1 : 0.8, a high range superplasticizer of 2%, and a mineral admixture of either 5% silica fume or 25% fly ash as a substitute for a similar amount cement.
