    Opis:
    Geograf próbuje wyjaśnić relacje przestrzenne w przyrodzie i w środowisku społecznym. Z kolei geografię można określić jako „sztukę czytania przestrzeni”. Dla geografa środowisko geograficzne to książka, którą próbuje odczytać, poznać jej treść, znaczenia, symbole i relacje między obserwowanymi wydarzeniami. Aby odczytać przestrzeń, potrzebna jest intuicja, wykraczająca poza istniejące schematy, poczucie piękna i nieograniczona wyobraźnia, swoboda myślenia oraz wrażliwość na innych ludzi. Dlatego należy dążyć do przekraczania granic nauki i tym samym umożliwić odkrycie sensu ludzkiej egzystencji w społeczeństwie. Myślenie geograficzne jest kluczem do wyjaśnienia otaczającego świata (naturalnego i społecznego), a przez to zrozumienia miejsca zajmowanego przez człowieka na Ziemi. Tym samym myślenie geograficzne zmierza do poznania prawdy o człowieku, o istocie terytorialnej zanurzonej w rzece czasu
    Geography seeks to explain spatial relations in nature and in the social environment. In general terms, geography can be described as “the art of reading the space”. To a geographer, geographic environment is a book which he/she is trying to read, its content, the meanings, the symbols and relations between the events. In order to read the space one needs intuition, going beyond existing schemes, the sense of beauty and unrestricted thinking as well as being sensitive to other people. That is why should exceed the borders of science and make it possible to discover the sense of human existence of Earth. Geographic thinking is key to explain the world around (natural and social) and, consequently, to understand the place occupied by man. Its objective is to discover the truth of human being, the inhabitant of Earth.

    Artykuł prezentuje oryginalną, nową koncepcję teoretyczną wielości rzeczywistości przestrzeni turystycznej, dla której inspiracją stały się prace Leona Chwistka. Autorzy wprowadzają podział rzeczywistości turystycznej na formy, które następnie charakteryzują za pomocą nowatorskiego narzędzia analizy, jakim są itineraria. Rozważania teoretyczne zilustrowano przykładami analiz empirycznych na podstawie badań z lat 2012–2015.
    The paper presents an original, new theoretical approach concerning the multiplicity of realities in tourism space for which the inspiration became a work of Leon Chwistek. The authors introduce a concept of tourist reality and it’s division into five forms according to relation existing between tourist space and living area. Each of distinguished form of tourist reality corresponds to specific territorial behavior of tourists. Than each of the form is characterized using innovative analysis tools called itineraries. Theoretical considerations are illustrated with examples of empirical studies carried out by authors in Portugal, Cuba and in Poland between the years 2012–2015. In conclusion authors suggest that the issue requires searching for an answer to the question about the relationship between time, place and person in tourist space. Identified forms of tourist realities are determined by the characteristics of place from which tourist came, and at the same time the one that you visit (objective reality), time spent in the destination and the characteristics of the individual person undergoing the trip.

    In recent years, the phenomenon of depopulation and shrinkage of cities has been observed. The depopulation of large cities is undoubtedly a demographic fact. The process of urban depopulation has recently become the theme of numerous reports and alarmist research works. However, it can be concluded that the diagnostic background of this phenomenon has got a narrow methodical foundation. As a measure of depopulation, the number of permanent residents is usually taken (according to the place of residence). Thus, the diversity, complexity and dynamics of processes taking place in contemporary cities are ignored. Postmodern reality appears as a segregated, separated world. Therefore, the diagnostic approaches currently used should be discussed. Going further, one can conclude that the measurement of depopulation and shrinkage of cities by the number of permanent residents is a simplification, because it ignores the essence of urbanity, which is the diversity of values offered by the urban space of exchange (i.e. the utility value). The article presents therefore the new concept of the measurement for shrinking of cities. Ideas discussed in the paper are expected to stimulate critical exchange of views among urban researchers. In the authors’ opinion, the sin of social-economic geography and spatial economics consists in boiling down great human affairs to aspects of correct representativeness.
    W ostatnich latach obserwuje się zjawisko wyludniania i kurczenia się miast. Depopulacja dużych miast jest bez wątpienie faktem demograficznym. Proces depopulacji miast stał się podstawą licznych raportów i alarmistycznych prac badawczych. Można jednak stwierdzić, że podstawy diagnostyczne wspomnianego zjawiska mają zawężony fundament metodyczny. Jako miarę depopulacji przyjmuje się zazwyczaj liczbę stałych mieszkańców (według miejsca zamieszkania). W ten sposób pomija się różnorodność, złożoność i dynamikę procesów zachodzących we współczesnych miastach. Postmodernistyczna rzeczywistość jawi się jako posegregowany, separowany świat. Należy zatem poddać pod dyskusję stosowane podejścia diagnostyczne. Idąc dalej, można uznać, że pomiar wyludniania i kurczenia się miast według liczby stałych mieszkańców jest uproszczony, ponieważ ignoruje istotę miejskości, czyli różnorodność walorów miejskiej przestrzeni wymiany (ich wartość użytkową). Idee zawarte w artykule powinny wywołać krytyczną dyskusję w gronie badaczy zajmujących się kwestiami miast. Zdaniem autorów grzechem współczesnej geografii społeczno-ekonomicznej i gospodarki przestrzennej jest sprowadzanie wielkich spraw człowieka do zagadnień poprawnej reprezentatywności.
