Opis:
The mystery of the Trinitarian God is not a theological puzzle, or an intriguing but distant bit of information about God that has no real bearing on our daily life. The faith in the Trinity creates the general spiritual environment in which Christians can live. To keep Trinity in the heart of the Christian faith, it must be treated seriously. It must be defined as the belief in a real Trinitarian God, who wanted to present Himself to humanity in this way. This postulate that is often called „a Trinitarian turn” imposes two main tasks on its followers: Firstly, to consolidate the whole variety of theological expositions in the light of the Trinitarian truth. Secondly, to find common grounds for the Trinitarian truth and the Christian and, generally, human experience. Realizing both tasks enlivens the perception of the Holy Trinity as a foundation for the perception and interpretation of the Christian doctrine, the totality of human life and of the universe.

Opis:
Of all the truths of faith and Christian life the truth about God in the Trinity of Persons is the most basic one. The truth in its entirety is revealed by God, but the interpretation of it has a long human history. The Christian teaching about God as a Trinity is the most perfect expression of human religious and theological awareness. The history of the Trinitarian dogma is as long as Christianity itself. It is rooted in the Old Testament, which spiritually and mentally prepared people for the revelation of the Holy Trinity in the New Testament. Jesus Christ in a comprehensive way revealed the truth about God as a personal triad, as a Holy Community, as a personal communion mystery. The essence of this truth has its source in the whole event of Jesus Christ, that is in His eternal existence, in the history of Redemption and in His word. Only later was it defined as a peculiar revelation of God that allows experiencing His essence, translating itself into existence, into everyday life, spirituality, morality, Christian practice, and with years also into the religious doctrine. Modern Catholic Trinitarian theology is developed on two merging planes; that is, the teaching of the Magisterium and teaching of outstanding theologians. A return to the historical-salutary understanding of God’s Trinitarian mystery, but considered in the personalistic light, is a characteristic novelty of modern trinitology. It is a personalistic-communion approach. Many Catholic theologians think that the Trinity makes itself present in a man by way of grace; it is the charitological approach. Also the problem of the Trinity that is immanent to the world, and at the same time transcendent, is considered. The position suggested by K. Rahner is right here: the historical-salutary Trinity is identical with the transcendent Trinity. The truth about the Holy Trinity is fundamental and basic for the understanding of man himself, of the meaning of his existence and of the meaning of the existence of anything. The Holy Trinity is the original model and at the same time a task for any human community – that is, any kind of human community should be realized according to the model of the Divine community.

Opis:
The two main Christian truths, about the triune God and the incarnation of the Son, are deeply connected with each other, first of all because it is the Second Person of the Trinity, who assumed the human nature in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Also the question, who is Jesus Christ with respect to him, who for himself was the Father, and to him, whom he called Holy Spirit, marked out the way of the maturing of the doctrine about Holy Trinity. The key issue, how the trinity of these Subjects agreed with the unalterable truth of the unicity of God, was answered in distinct ways in Byzantium and in the Latin West, where the regula fidei was seized already by Tertullian about the year 200. The majority of the Greeks, devoted to Plotin and Origen, in the IV century rejected the teaching of the Council of Nicea, although later they accepted the word homo-oúsios (consubstantial), but explained it in the sence of homoi-oúsios (similar according to the substance); hence they are called „neo-Nicenes (Jungnizäner)”. Besides, in the Aristotelian current of the Western theology in the XIII century there apparered a coloureless essentialism and a concept of divine person as mere subsistent relation (relatio subsistens). Both these scarcities remedied blessed John Duns Scotus OFM, in whose footsteps – more than 300 years later – a large degree followed Francis Suarez SJ.

Opis:
In the classical Trinitology being developed in the East mainly the conception of Persons of the Trinity was emphasized, whereas in the West the oneness of the Three-Person God was stressed. The author has chosen four main approaches to the problem in the new Western trinitology: Trinity as three ways of the existence of the one Person of God (K. Barth, K.Rahner, P. Schoonenberg); as the Communio of Persons, being the essence of God (J. Moltmann, G. Greshake); as the pre-model of social-political life: individual vs community (L.Boff); and as a sequential genetic fulfillment of the relation from the Father through the Son to the Holy Spirit (J. Ratzinger, Cz. S. Bartnik, K. Góźdź). This last approach stresses the intrinsic existence of the person, the fullness of the being and the subjective depth of the ego, and in consequence ontological trinitology without reducing the Persons in the Trinity to Love only, even if it could be put in the first place.

Opis:
In the second part of his paper (the first part was published in the 2011 issue of Yearbook of Dogmatic Theology), Massimo Serretti, an Italian theologian and personalist, shows that the parallel use of two terms, nature and person, is fundamental for the development of anthropology. The history of philosophical thought has proved that the gradual separation of those two categories has led to the rejection of the very notion of human nature, diminishing the value of the concept of human itself, understood materialistically and biologically. In the first part of his paper, Serretti concluded that the origin of the contemporary anthropological personalism is to be found in the Trinitarian doctrine.

Opis:
The author shows the use of the concept of person in determining the essence of the Holy Trinity and the influence of this category on doctrinal and pastoral activities of the Church. The most important conclusion that results from this paper is that renewing the Church, and renewing the faith of the Church can only take place on condition of acknowledging the direct, that is personal, presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of each believer and in the Church community. This conclusion is postulated on the basis of an in-depth study of the development of the concept of person in Trinitarian theology.

Opis:
In the contemporary postmodernist culture that more and more becomes the “culture of the picture”, the demand of visualization should also be addressed to theology that is inclined to use the traditional forms of verbal message. In the light of the principle of accommodation accepted by the Vaticanum II the imperative expressed there should be considered “urgent” for the present moment. Among the new propositions promoting graphical-pictorial approaches in theology a new method called chart-graphic or geometrical method worked out by Rev. Prof. Franciszek Drączkowski deserves a special attention. The starting point of the chart-graphic method is the figure of the circle in which an equilateral triangle has been inscribed that is a symbolic image of the triune God. The value of geometry in cognition and comprehension of truth was seen in the past by many outstanding scholars, who considered the use of geometry, logic and algebra to be necessary in the process of cognition of the universe (Descartes, Pascal, Clement of Alexandria). Geometry also for Rev. Drączkowski becomes something that is indeed necessary in the process of cognition of the eternal Truth and of transmitting this knowledge to others. He accepts the ancillary role of geometry, transferring it to the ground of theology.
