Opis:
Media pedagogy is a discipline of pedagogy that stems from the need to reflect on the development of the contemporary media. Television still occupies a dominating position among them and has the greatest social influence. It also poses complex educational difficulties. The reasons for this are often such programmes as reality show. Young people eagerly watch them and they have found a permanent place in the educational area. Such programmes have brought about a number of ethical, psychological, and educational doubts. The reality show programmes contribute to the destruction of many socially essential values. The television medium is still developing and some negative tendencies are clearly manifested. Pedagogy initiates dialogue with the new educational partner. It cannot limit itself merely to criticism, but seeks to understand the language of modern television. This will allow to provide effective education and formation which seem indispensable today for the development of media culture of the young generation.

Opis:
Development of information technology and of the media gives the basis for a change in the conditions of life as well as of lifestyle, both in the individual dimension and in the social one; in this way it defines new patterns for the formation of personality. Interactive multimedia seem to exert a special influence here. They present reality in the form of ambiguous generalizations, in this way becoming, especially for children, very attractive and at the same time possessive, as in a way they force children to accept the promoted behavior patterns, and they induce aspirations to a new quality of lifestyle – the ‘media lifestyle’. Hence taking care of this kind of educational contact, and especially of children and their development, is very important. Such interest in the issue is concerned with the presence of the child in the world of the media, and it concerns the contents the child may accept; the criteria of choice he may use; his communication competences; and the advantages he may have from the contact with the media. Presenting the connection between the communication aspects of the schoolchildren’s lifestyle and global media messages, the author focuses mainly on discussing the mental processes taking part in the reception of the media and on the child’s functioning in the ‘media reality’, which may allow one to understand the specific character of the ‘media lifestyle’.

Opis:
The sketch presents tabloid as a neutral, not laden by emotions (hence I renounce such terms as yellow paper, scandal sheet, or rag), manner by which to sell information and entertainment. Sometimes I use such terms as sensational press, but this concerns only some tabloids. I analyze how this form of communication in social reality influences the processes of the democratization of society (extension of the freedom of the individual), how it extends the concepts of public debate on democracy, understood here as a participation in political life and in matters that have a bearing on political life. Taking the stance of a representative of political sciences, historian of ideas, specialist in media, I analyze the genesis of the idea of tabloid and the characteristic elements of this press. I point only to some factors.

Opis:
The paper shows the phenomenon of popular culture against the background of modern society. The latter society, in view of its properties, constitutes perfect conditions for the development of the culture in question. The variety of bits of information „floating” through modern society, the large number of principles, values, attitudes or life styles make up a mirror in which the „image” of popular culture is reflected. The paper turns our attention to specific processes and phenomena characteristic of today society. Accordingly, popular culture has this particular shape. The paper stresses the role of modern society in shaping popular culture, and shows that there is an obvious relationship between the two phenomena. Besides, it makes us aware that popular culture is not a phenomenon isolated from reality, or a phenomenon which is „beyond us”. Rather, it is something that we, more or less consciously, create and in which we participate.
