    Opis:
    The author tries to prove the thesis that the conception of public sphere is a factor that decides the future of democracy. It has connected civil society and the state with the principle saying that social communication is able to inform the legislators and state administration about how they should serve the interests of all the citizens. While civil society reflects the struggle that tries to reconcile individual profits with building an ethical community, public sphere plays the key role in finding new areas of common good and in working out both social and individual strategies in order to achieve it. An ideal project of public sphere assumes that all its participants express their opinions as equals; however, reality shows that inequality and domination still distort social communication. An open and dynamic public sphere is the dimension of civil society that is the most important one for democracy, as it helps build the demos in the literal sense of the word – as a community that is able to create its own future. Public sphere functions owing to communication; it connects cultural creativity, selective and consolidated traditions, and a well thought out debate; and all this in order to give information to the citizens participating in it and to influence the state and other institutions.

    Właściwością demokracji jest istnienie wolnej od nacisków przestrzeni wymiany poglądów. Sfera publiczna jest niezbędnym elementem prawidłowego funkcjonowania demokracji i przestrzenią aktywności społeczeństwa obywatelskiego. Artykuł zawiera rozważania na temat istoty sfery publicznej, oczekiwań i zjawisk występujących w polskiej przestrzeni publicznej w ciągu ostatnich dziesięciu lat. W pierwszej części pracy zawarto refleksje teoretyczne na temat sfery publicznej w literaturze światowej i polskiej. Druga część artykułu zawiera przegląd socjologicznych opracowań dotyczących kondycji moralnej uczestników sfery publicznej w Polsce. Zakończenie stanowi prezentacja wyników badań o poziomie i jakości zaangażowania obywatelskiego Polaków.
    One of the basic features of democracy is the existence of free of influence space of exchanging opinions. The public sphere is crucial element of proper functioning of democracy and also the space of activity of civil society. The article contains considerations about the essence of public sphere, expectations and phenomena occurring in Polish public space within last ten years. The first part of the paper contains theoretical reflections concerning public sphere in Polish and world literature. The second part of the article contains review of sociological descriptions concerning moral condition of participants of public sphere in Poland. The ending presents the results of research about the level and quality of engagement of Poles in civil activities.

    Praca zawodowa spełnia w życiu człowieka szereg funkcji. Stanowi podstawę zaspokojenia potrzeb, jest źródłem społecznej tożsamości, jest wyznacznikiem pozycji społecznej, daje możliwość rozwoju, jak również uczestniczenia w szerszej aktywności społecznej. W sytuacji bezrobocia poprzez pojawiające się konsekwencje ekonomiczne, psychologiczne, moralne i społeczne może dojść do sytuacji, w których godność człowieka pozostanie zagrożona. Bezrobocie zaliczane jest do sytuacji trudnych, traumatycznych. Może być postrzegane jako porażka, sytuacja, która obniża poczucie wartości i bezpośrednio dotyka godności człowieka. Zjawisko braku pracy rozpatrywane ze społecznego punktu zmienia pozycję jednostki w strukturze społecznej. Oznacza społeczną degradację. Na skutek bezrobocia zagrożona staje się podmiotowość jednostki i możliwość jej decydowania o sobie. Badania osób bezrobotnych ukazują obniżenie się poziomu życia na skutek bezrobocia oraz popadanie w ubóstwo. Na skutek utraty pracy, wydłużającego się czasu pozostawania bez pracy, jak i innych czynników, które warunkują sytuację jednostki, pojawić się mogą negatywne uczucia, przygnębienie, apatia, stany depresyjne. Bezrobocie tym samym stanowi sytuację potencjalnego zagrożenia dla godności człowieka.
    Employment has many functions in human life. It gives the opportunity for fulfill human needs, it is a source of social identity, and social status, it gives the opportunity to develop, as well as participate in a broader social activity. The consequences of unemployment can be very serious: from economic consequences, psychological, moral and social can lead to situations in which human dignity is humiliated. Unemployment is classified as difficult and traumatic situation. It can be seen as a failure, a situation which lowers self-esteem and directly affects human dignity. The phenomenon of lack of work changes the position of the individual in the social structure. That means social degradation. Studies show a decrease in the unemployed living standards as a result of unemployment. As a result of job loss the negative feelings may appear, like apathy, depression and even suicidal thoughts.

    Opis:
    The article tackles the issue connected with the parents' educational action in the sphere of forming the identity of young people. Identity understood most generally as identity in pedagogy and psychology is analyzed in two aspects: those of personal and social identity. In the description of identity as qualitative developmental change in the life cycle one should especially stop at the stage of adolescence. It is a time of dynamic change, of asking essential questions, and in Erikson's opinion, it is a time of conflict on the level: identity – dispersal of identity. Identity's developmental dynamism at the stage of adolescence is the resultant of different factors; the process of education in the family takes a significant place among them. Since formation of a young man's identity happens in the context of the whole of psychophysical development, the family's educational function should be carried out in agreement with the conception of man's integral education. The parents' educational action, supporting development of identity in young people should first of all aim at broadening the adolescents' self-knowledge, forming a clearly defined hierarchy of values, broadening the personal models, helping to verbalize their plans, aims and aspirations. Development of identity in adolescents can be hampered by educational errors. Attention mainly should be paid to the parents' overprotective attitudes, an autocratic style of education, the symbiotic bond between the parent and the child, disturbance of the inter-family borders or transmission of irrationality. The course of the educational process in the family in the area of identity formation in adolescents happens on the basis of identification and giving meanings (internalization). This is why it is so important who the parents are, what their sense of identity is, which identity they experience as the leading one. The parents' self-knowledge and self-definition as well as the quality of interfamily interactions is the beginning of formation of identity in their children and it is in this structure of The personal I and the social We that the parents' educational function is inscribed.
