    Opis:
    This paper discusses the question of church and monastery invocations in the light of the most ancient sources in from the turn of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. An analysis of sacral names has been based on detailed excerpts from the documents of Władysław Łokietek (1275-1333). They were printed in the nineteenth-century diplomatic codes, and partially in more recent publications. In the sources under study we can find church and monastery invocations. The description of sacral objects contain not only elements corresponding to patron names, but also anthroponymic and toponymic; they compose a considerable part of the analyses here. The material presented, if only in a szczątkowa scale, presents some  basic semantic types of the names under analysis.

    W Archiwum kościoła pw. Bożego Ciała w Krakowie znajduje się księga rachunkowa (Expensa pecuniae) prowadzona przez zakrystianów w latach 1616-1676. Artykuł, będący dopełnieniem wcześniejszych prac, dotyczy zapisów od roku 1668, wówczas bowiem zakrystian odnotował po raz pierwszy użycie pozytywu w ceremoniach liturgicznych. Autor przeanalizował te notatki, które dotyczą wydatków na muzykę kościelną. Zakonnicy płacili śpiewakom, instrumentalistom za uświetnienie muzykom liturgii, ale na szczególną uwagę zasługują te notatki, w których jest mowa o muzyce instrumentalnej. Użycie pozytywu w trakcie procesji w uroczystość odpustową przemawia, zdaniem autora, za praktykowaniem nowoczesnej muzyki w stylu koncertującym, poświadczając recepcję zachodnich osiągnięć kompozytorskich na gruncie polskim. Cały dokument jest dowodem wysokiej kultury muzycznej kultywowanej w klasztorze krakowskim.
    In the archives of the Corpus Christi Church in Kraków there is a ledger (Expensa pecuniae) which was maintained by its sacristans during the years 1616-1676. This article, which complements previous works, concerns the entries for the year 1668 because it was in that year that the sacristans recorded the first use of the positive organ in liturgical ceremonies. The author has analysed these notes concerning music-related expenses. The monks paid singers and instrumentalists to enhance the music of the liturgy, but the notes about the instrumental music themselves are deserving of special attention. The use of the positive organ during the procession to the local parish fair, in the opinion of the author, confirms the fact that modern music was being performed in the concertante style, confirming the reception of Western compositional achievements in Poland. The entire document is proof of the high-level of musical culture which was cultivated in this Kraków monastery.

    Opis:
    Engravers of the post-Tridentine period recorded the most important events of their time in their etching graphics. They created these works with a view to memorialise the events, but also in order to inform the public opinion about them and to influence their thinking. Hagiographic iconography was among the most frequent graphic themes of the time, which was owing to the atmosphere of the Tridentine reforms. The Council of Trent rediscovered art as a medium for communicating the religious message. The 16th and the 18th century witnessed an excessive confrontation between the European denominations, brutal religious wars and the Turkish invasion into Christian countries. Artistic accounts of the era display a lot of martial motifs, with noticeable emphasis on the endangered status of Christianity. Catholic Church directed human thinking towards God as an Almighty Power holding the world in His hands. The etching graphics that have survived until today testify to the prevalence of this message. The role of the Divine Providence was repeatedly highlighted, as was the mediation of the Mother of God and the Saints: they implored God to spare Christianity from the religious and military turmoil. The paper draws upon a vast selection of European etching graphics to present the power of the iconographic propaganda, with a special focus on the protective and supportive role of the Patron Saints.
