    Opis:
    A trickster, or a deceiver, a cheat, a smart fool, and at the same time a personification of all carnal impulses, is typical of any corner of the world. Heteromorphic, hiding under the figures of people, spirits, magic creatures and animals, he is also not devoid of divine features. His nature is never cognized till the end, and a trickster keeps evolving, revealing ever new faces. He introduces conflict, chaos and destruction, and at the same time he teaches people tricks, gives them a spark of divine fire, helps to cognize and organize the world, and fans the flames of passion. He is a figure known first of all in anthropology, important for interpreting and understanding numerous myths. It is ever more often that his features may be also found in the attitudes of contemporary artists, film heroes and icons of pop-culture. So a trickster may become the key to understanding contemporary culture, including many works of modern art – often controversial, breaking the taboo, eagerly using irony, provocation and immoderation. In the present article the author describes this unusual figure. She mentions various attempts at defining this extremely important cultural archetype, briefly presenting the most important publications devoted to it. Using chosen examples she discusses the presentations of the figure of the trickster in traditional narrations, that is in myths, folklore and folk traditions. She shows how universal he is and emphasizes these features and roles owing to which the trickster assumes the proportions of an icon of our times and becomes an alluring model to be imitated for artists who incessantly, albeit not always consciously, use him in their works.

    The state of research on hospitals in Poland before the partitions is characterized by two directions of research conducted by two groups of historians: historians of medicine who analyse the problem as an element of medical attention, and professional historians studying hospitals or the network of hospital care in general from its institutional side. Studies of the social influence of the hospital are very rare. The problem only recently was taken up by historians. A further progress of the research shows that there is an urgent need of starting wide interdisciplinary studies not only on hospitals but even on the broadly understood problem of charity. Up till now the variety of directions of research has resulted in a considerable number of contributions but there have been only few comprehensive monographical papers. Hence there is still no summary of the results achieved so far, a uniform research method has not yet been worked out; and first of all there is still no large scale research programme.

    Staropolskie metryki kościelne wymagają szerokich badań oraz edycji. Autor artykułu skupił się na Księgach ochrzczonych (Liber baptisatorum). W polskiej historiografii ogłoszono drukiem treść tego typu źródeł z szesnastu parafii. Stan badań jest daleko niewystarczający aby uzyskać szerszy obraz rejestracji metrykalnej w polskim Kościele. Artykuł dokonuje próby rekapitulacji dotychczasowych osiągnięć historiografii w zakresie rozwoju narzędzi badawczych wykorzystywanych w polskich edycjach Ksiąg ochrzczonych. Metody stosowane w tych edycjach są bardzo różnorodne i nie zawsze zgodne z potrzebami naukowymi. Analizy zawarte w artykule prowadzą do postawienia szeregu postulatów zarówno dotyczących zasad wydawania drukiem metryk chrztu, jak i zaspokojenia potrzeb badawczych związanych z badaniami nad stratyfikacją społeczną polskich parafii, dziejami i geografią Kościoła, demografią historyczną, czy nowożytną dyplomatyką.
    Old Polish church registers require extensive research and editing. The author of the article focused on the baptismal registers (Liber baptisatorum). In Polish historiography, the content of this type of sources from sixteen parishes has already been published. The state of research is far from sufficient to get a broader picture of record registration in the Polish Church. The article attempts to recapitulate the achievements of historiography to date in the field of development of research tools used in the Polish editions of the baptismal registers. The methods used in these editions are very diverse and not always in line with scientific needs. The analyzes contained in the article lead to a number of postulates both regarding the principles of issuing records of baptism and meeting research needs related to research on the social stratification of Polish parishes, the history and geography of the Church, historical demography, and modern diplomats.

    Although research has already established the function of the commonest Greek particles, there is a significant gap in the research on the function of δή in comparison with that carried out on other particles. Assigning a functional significance to this particle is problematic, especially since a satisfactory definition of the function of δή remains, I believe, a desideratum. The usage of the particle δή may appear at first sight to have little significance in Greek texts. This article aims to show that nothing could be further from the truth. The particle δή has had a considerable impact on the discourse. In line with this insight, in this contribution I present the way in which scholars have carried out their investigations into the particle δή. Specific attention is paid to (a) the question of how modern scholars classify this particle, (b) what kind of definition and characteristics they assign to this particle, and (c) what purpose this particle is intended to serve in the discourse according to current research. This paper also provides moot points in the research on the particle δή and ideas for further consideration. The main purpose of this paper is to bring together a summary of the current published information about the particle δή for ready reference for those actively engaged in studying Greek particles.
    Artykuł omawia sposoby definiowania funkcji partykuły δή we współczesnych badaniach nad partykułami greckimi. W istocie do badań nad partykułami greckimi nie udało się dotychczas wypracować skutecznej metodologii. Obiecujące pod tym względem są zwłaszcza badania naukowców z niderlandzkiego obszaru językowego (Belgia, Holandia), którzy do opisu greckich partykuł adaptują model pragmatyczno-dyskursywny, podkreślając, że funkcje partykuł należy interpretować, uwzględniając relacje między nadawcą i odbiorcą w specyficznym akcie komunikacji. Partykuły służą zatem przede wszystkim do realizacji funkcji pragmatycznych, a ich użycie jest determinowane kontekstem sytuacyjnym. Konkretną aplikację tych założeń można zaobserwować w pracach zagranicznych naukowców przedstawionych w niniejszym artykule. Systematycznych badań nad funkcjami partykuły δή do tej pory, o ile mi wiadomo, na gruncie polskim nie przeprowadzono.

    Praca stanowi próbę podsumowania dotychczasowego dorobku badań nad procesami demograficznymi na Lubelszczyźnie w epoce przedstatystycznej, tj. do końca XIX w. Pierwszy spis powszechny odbył się na tym terenie dopiero w 1897 r. Omówiono najpierw prace XIX-wiecznych autorów. Miały one charakter syntetyczny, swoim zasięgiem objęły granice całego Królestwa Polskiego. Stopień ich uszczegółowienia pozwala jednak czasem na analizę wybranych problemów na szczeblu miejscowości, powiatów lub województw. Wzrost zainteresowania problematyką demograficzną nastąpił po II wojnie światowej, co przełożyło się na publikacje autorów skupionych w Katolickim Uniwersytecie Lubelskim. Szczególnie cenne okazały się badania prowadzone przez Z. Sułowskiego i J. Gawrysiakową. Podsumowując artykuł, autor podkreślił, iż istnieje pilna potrzeba zintensyfikowania badań nad przeszłością demograficzną Lubelszczyzny.
    The work is an attempt to summarize achievements to date research on the demographic processes in the Lublin region in the pre-statistical era, i.e. by the end of the 19th century. The first census took place in the area in 1897. First,  the publications of the 19th century authors were discussed. They were of synthetic nature and encompassed the entire borders of the Polish Kingdom. The granularity of the information, however, allows to consider some problems at the level of the village, district or province. The increased interest in the problems of demography occurred after World War II, which resulted in publications of the authors gathered at the Catholic University of Lublin. The research by Zygmunt Sułowski and Janina Gawrysiakowa proved to be particularly valuable. To summarize the article, the author points out that there is an urgent need to intensify the research on the demographic past of the Lublin region.
