    Opis:
    The aim of the paper is to provide a systematic metaphysical account of the conceptions of generation of a individual being proposed by Aristotle and Whitehead, which are commonly regarded as radically opposite. The results are presented in diagrams 1 and 2 respectively. Principles or causes present in the diagrams make system of correlates – I try to show the way of its construction in both cases and possible transformations leading to alternative standpoints. It may be of some interest that with the help of these diagrams several basic metaphysical positions can be distinguished and compared. It appears that both systems do not differ significantly with respect to their structure: their respective components are mutually related in the same way. Essential difference lies in the conceptions of matter in both systems. I claim that different relations of matter to other components in the diagram 1 boil down to essential characteristic of matter as spatio-temporality or extensiveness in general (diagram 3). Whiteheadian matter in its turn consists of qualities – this corresponds with phenomenological notion of matter. In the end I raise a question of possible dependence between momental conception of existence and discrete conception of time.

    Opis:
    The main topic of this paper is embraced by the post-positivistic criticism of the empiricist approach to the philosophy of science. A special stress on the pluralism of the (meta-)methodology is laid down. On the second level we have distinguished the following two main kinds of metascientific discourse: methodology of appraisal or evaluation vs methodology of invention or discvovery. In opposition to the traditional dichotomy of the well known two contexts we do not exclude some kind of relevance between these two sorts of metascientifc inquiry. Four groups of reasons being involved in an attempt to exclude therationalizability process of invention are then critically discussed. These four types of arguments against such a possibility of scientific heuristics (methodology of theory construction) appeal to 1)intuition, chance or unexplainability, 2) induction, 3) T-terms, and 4) predictability. Previously to this critical analysis of the arguments some attention upon preparatory issues is given. Such a role play especially: the status of methodology, historical approaches to the methodology of theory construction and rational reconstruction of the context of invention.

    Opis:
    Historians of philosophy use the word genesis fairly freely. Most often it is supposed to denote the beginning of a certain trend, variously understood, a problem, argument, or, broadly speaking, a certain idea. Nevertheless, as Karl Jaspers pointed aptly, the beginning is something historical, something that once happened in a given time. In this sense it is always single and unrepeatable. If, however, some trends and ideas always recur in philosophy, it is better to speak about a source, or, perhaps, a few sources than about a beginning. It seems that the use of the term „genesis” to define such a source is legitimate. A source is, however, a genesis of another tpe than beginning, because in a sense it eludes time. The impulse stimulating to philosophizing flows from the sources on and on in various epochs. The paper first discusses the genesis of philosophical ideas understood as a beginning, then genesis understood as a source.

    The article is devoted to the question of the origin of temporal logic. The aim of it is to answer to the question concerning the group of conditions and reasons of constructing such kinds of systems (especially of tense logic and G. H. von Wright’s temporal logic). As a result of conducted considerations, there is stated that there exist two reasons of arising some temporal systems. The first of them was the rebirth of interests of issues involving time in aspect of logic, the second (more essential) – insufficiency of the language of the classical logical calculus to give the formalization of tense clauses. In connection with this there was begun constructing temporal systems providing the linguistic and inferencional apparatus needed to control expressions and inferences containing such clauses. In the article there is also shown how there was led to formalize expressions including various tense clauses, and what follows, to introduce new functors to the language of logic.

    Opis:
    The paper sought to present one trend of the debate carried on within the confines of 20th-century history of science, i.e. the genesis of science. Among various trends of this debate we shall distinguish one that concerns the evaluation of the significance of the main traditions in Greek philosophy (Ionian, Pythagorean-Platonic) in the process of the constitution of science. The paper shows some solutions to this question that appear in the main trends of 20th--century history of science (externalism, internalism).
