- The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the profitability of energy production from alternative energy source, which is the Sun. The article compares the installation of active solar system with installation that uses the traditional source of energy. The study contains a summary of the two energy installations operating in a single family home with a fixed surface area and number of inhabitants. We compared the costs of installation, operating costs, payback period, environmental impact for these two installations. Performed calculations showed the differences in the investment costs and the operating costs of traditional and solar installations for hot water heating. For installation of solar panels, the investor bears almost twice the financial outlay.It should be noted, however, that the payback period is more than 11 years, while the lifetime of the device is up to 20 years. When you buy an installation that uses alternative energy sources, you can apply for grants, which reduce investment costs, or take advantage of the credit specifically designed for such investments. Ecological effects, although unmeasurable, are significant and definitely testify in favor of the solar system.
