- This article describes an institutional pedagogical counseling for multicultural families — assessment and systematizing initiative. Multicultural families are composed of diverse cultures. It is the general term for families that have members from different cultural backgrounds. The number of multicultural families in Poland is growing; at the same time increasing the need for pedagogical counseling for this kind of families. The consultive work has to be adequate to the challengers of a modern social-economical and multicultural environment. To work with people from different cultures we need to have intercultural competence, which is the ability to develop targeted knowledge, skills and attitudes that lead to visible behaviour and communication that are both effective and appropriate in intercultural interactions.
