Opis:
The companies of any industry are strongly affected with current globalization trend, which makes supply chain flows more and more bulky and complex. To be competitive in cost and eco-friend way under contemporary business market conditions, the companies should apply system approach of logistics management to plan, manage and control of their logistics processes. Each company’s system can be analysed and divided into essential logistics sub-systems: purchasing, production, packaging, warehousing, distribution and reverse material flow management. Thus, the system and process approach are crucial for up-to-date logistics systems or subsystems management in context of long-term sustainable growth. Any effective logistics management system should be based on sub-system of demand forecasting. Demand forecasting is increasingly getting important to make right managerial decisions. Well developed demand forecasting sub-sytem in a company is a ground for effective planning, management and control of all company’s processes then also for effective logistics or supply chain management.

Global computerization and informatization of enterprises, Internet popularization and fast growing number of mobile devices has caused the rapid growth of data generated by the society. There never was so much data in the whole humans history. Forecasts shows that in 5 years the growth rate of data being generated will increase by several times. From one side, easy-access to company’s economic environment and customers’ data enables better decision taking, but from the other side huge amount of data leads to the “information noise” which may be a cause of incorrect conclusions and finally wrong decisions. Due to this phenomenon, companies have faced completely new challenge – development of company’s competitive edge through the analysis of huge amount of unstructured and changing data bases – so-called “Big data”. Analysis that were difficult or even not possible to conduct couple years ago, today are supporting companies on every day basis thanks to Big data analysis.

Opis:
Regional logistics platforms represent a modern approach and development instrument, aimed towards fostering and facilitating logistics activities and business exchange with associated flows in a specific geographic region, whose origins can be traced back to ancient trade routes. Though a widespread buzzword in political and business circles the logistics platform still lacks a clear definition and thorough understanding of the concept in its entirety. We identify several uses of the term and place it in the supply chain environment. Different contextual and business case examples are presented to differentiate between distinctive meanings of the word. A common logistics platform definition is proposed and applied by means of SWOT analysis to the development state of the platform in Slovenia.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to outline the characteristics of supply chain management (SCM) in Bulgaria on the basis of data from the Bulgarian business practice and to reveal the existing reserves for improvement. The research methodology includes the systemisation and development of variables measuring two aspects of SCM: internal - the integration between the company's functions, and external - the integration between the companies in the supply chain. Personal interviews on the basis of a questionnaire were used for the collection of the data. The general conclusion is that there are organizational prerequisites for internal integration of the logistics activities in the Bulgarian companies and they become more cooperative towards their partners too. But they lag behind the foreign companies in the areas of goals setting and performance management, the investments in information technologies and the greater focus on the relationships with customers. A main outcome of the research is the development of the model of SCM application in Bulgaria which constitutes of three phases: traditional relationships, coordination, collaboration and full integration. The second phase consists of three stages that correspond to different degrees of coordination. The role of the logistics sector for SCM is also assessed. Although the logistics service providers in Bulgaria lag behind the logistics sector in well-developed countries, as a whole they demonstrate an aspiration for the improvement of their competitive position and proneness to implement contemporary business practices which could contribute to the success of SCM application in Bulgaria.
