Opis:
While evaluating the attempts to discover new reservoirs of petroleum and gas, it is necessary to emphasize the engagement of the state, which, despite the fact that the existing resources allowed to satisfy the automobile needs of the society, noticed the importance of the problem within the next decades. The works were conducted in different directions, byengaging great capital in exploratory drilling, by making appropriate reserves of petroleum, starting import procedures, and conducting far-reaching studies on the production of synthetic fuels. However, they were started late, both in time and in the introduced modifications, and most of the deficiencies resulted from the activities of the French capital, which was onlyinterested in short-sighted profits from the exploitation of the resources; this was visible in exporting low-processed resources. In their majority, these activities turned into rapid explorationof the domestic market, and with such understanding of the system, all costs of search for new reservoirs were marginalized, first of all for economic reasons.

Opis:
The Krakow Merchant Congregation entered an intense stage of development when Poland regained independence. It acted energetically and dynamically, but first of all – it acted on many levels. The organization focused on interventional activities in the cases when merchants’ well-being was endangered, on opinion-making and representing merchants before the authorities. It cooperated with state and self-government authorities, and with economic institutions. In the largest degree, it cooperated with the Krakow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with the Krakow Merchants’ Association. The Guild offered its embers tax counselling, accountancy assistance, and financial support in the form of loans. It especially cared for the intellectual and moral development of the youth, perceiving them as the future of strong merchantry. It paid great attention to the development of vocational  chooling. Following the centuries-long tradition, it was involved in philanthropy, offering its support to the poorest. It also allocated considerable sums for national actions and the renovation of Krakow architectural monuments. The organization cared for merchants of particular specializations by establishing trade sections. It also undertook a large-scale task of establishing its branches outside Krakow.

Opis:
The last thirty years of the existence of the Republic of Nobles, also called to the Stanislaus' epoch or times, was a period of cultural and economic growth that resulted from introducting a new economic policy similar to the models of modern western countries. After the economic crisis in the mid-seventeenth century, attemps were made to develop the manufacturing industry, rebuild the Olkusz mining industry, and introduce reforms of city and lokal administration in the whole Krakow voivodeship by deepening the rule of the House of Wettin in Poland. In accordance with the enlightenment reforms, new factories were oponed and attempts were made to deal with the problem of the most mobile group of "the loose people" for whom vacancies were created, among ithers, in the cloth factory. Revitalization of cites was taken up by the Krakow governors and newly established institutions, so-called Boni Ordinis Commissions which focused on creating city plans, inventories of goods of old privileges and city regulations as well as on ordering issues related to the city borders. Intermediate administration was handled by the Civil-Military Commissions of Good Order whose activity considerably resembled the administration in the western enlightenment countries.
