Opis:
The national policy of mitigating the consequences of unemployment was extended in the 1930s to include so-colled special actions constituing in employment support(full or parial). The actions included: creating the basis for unassisted existence, social and educatioonal hepl, and employment of white collar workers. These were innovative actions that were undertaken too late to bring visable effects before the end of the interwar period. They were initiated by the Work Found and the national and local authorities as well as numerous economic and socio-cultural organizations were engaged. Creation of the basis for indepedent existence aimed et supporting the unemployed in creating new workplaces or increasing the standard of the existing ones that were sources of income. Social and educational hepl was supposed to contribute (at least partially) to gaining occupational indepedence by the unemployed. A lot of interest was raised among the unemployed by allotment gardens and vocational training. Adolefession"scennts "without a profession " took advantage of the cultural and educational actions. Hiring the unemployed white collar workers consisted in subsidizing institutions that created job posts for this socio-professional group. Special actions made it possible for the unemployed to return to active professional lives. they restored their self-respect (due to employment) and a conviciction that they are not a burden for the society.

Opis:
The paper contains a review of M. Gawrońska-Garstka’s book about Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. The book was published in 2016 and, in my opinion, can’t be called monograph, due to several shortcomings. The author did not use the basic sources. After analyzing the “Bibliography” it become obvious that 80% of the signatures from the Lithuanian archive (f. 175) are not cited in the text. The language of the peer-reviewed book is infantile. Sentences are general and says nothing new. Style is illogical. Lack of ability to put up thesis and draw conclusions is blatant. Therefore, the book should not be considered scientific work as it contributing nothing to the history of USB.

Opis:
The Krakow Merchant Congregation entered an intense stage of development when Poland regained independence. It acted energetically and dynamically, but first of all – it acted on many levels. The organization focused on interventional activities in the cases when merchants’ well-being was endangered, on opinion-making and representing merchants before the authorities. It cooperated with state and self-government authorities, and with economic institutions. In the largest degree, it cooperated with the Krakow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with the Krakow Merchants’ Association. The Guild offered its embers tax counselling, accountancy assistance, and financial support in the form of loans. It especially cared for the intellectual and moral development of the youth, perceiving them as the future of strong merchantry. It paid great attention to the development of vocational  chooling. Following the centuries-long tradition, it was involved in philanthropy, offering its support to the poorest. It also allocated considerable sums for national actions and the renovation of Krakow architectural monuments. The organization cared for merchants of particular specializations by establishing trade sections. It also undertook a large-scale task of establishing its branches outside Krakow.

Opis:
The articke charakterizes the conditions in which the well-know shoe company from Czechoslovakia-later on a word potentate in this trade - the "Bata" concern had to function. The first  part of the article discusses the attempts of penetrating the market in the southern Poland tkat were undertaken during the World War I, and later on the early 1920s. The attempts failed due to administrative limitations imposed pn the trading of leather and shoes as well as due to currency perturbations. The second part of the article presents the functioning of the company and its development starting from opening Polish Shoe Partnership "Bata" A.A. in Cracow and building a fatory in Chelmek in 1932. It focuses on depicting the atmosphere in which the company from Czechoslovalia functioned on the Polish market. The article discusses the reactions of the shoe industry to the functioning of "Bata"and persecutions from the Polish authorities that initially treated the company with visible distrust. It also presents the process of changing the view of the company resulting from the German threat and the agreement for its further expansion achieved by bulding a new dhoe and leather factory near Puławy as part of the Central Industrial Region. A sepetare issue that is discussed in the article are the protective methods that were used by the Polish daughter company against and developmant limitations that were imposed by the authorities - methods that treated on a fine line between legal and illegal, or even crossed the line.

Opis:
The Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History in Moscow is home to the largest collection of documents on the history of the Polish communist movement in the interwar period. Among other files, the documents of the Communist Party of Poland and others related to Polish communists in the Comintern are stored there. is rich collection is currently not very popular among historians, although it is necessary for research into the history of the Polish communist movement. In Russian editions of archival sources or published  correspondence of Soviet leaders, subjects related to the activities of Polish communists are poorly represented. There is no edition of sources on the Comintern’s attitude toward Poland in the years 1919-1943. In contemporary Russia, a small number of historians deal with the subject of the Polish communistmovement. It is not popular among Polish researchers, either.
