Opis:
The paper presents the activity ofselected landslides where instrumental monitoring has been carried out within the Framework of Landslide Counteracting System (SOPO). The temporal relationships between subsurface dynamics (displacements) and geological structure with respect to atmospheric precipitation are discussed. In order to expose these relationships, the landslides were divided into two groups: the first one is located in the areas where the bedrock is made up of flysch formations with the predominance of clay rocks. The second group is located in areas with the prevalence of sandstones in the bedrock. The analysis of the 10-year record shows that, in the areas where the geological structure is dominated by clays, the landslides present continuous activity with displacements not exceeding a dozen mm/year. In the areas where in the geological foundation (bedrock) sandstones are dominated, landslide movements were usually more impulsive. Dislocations were recorded mainly after intense, long-lasting precipitation or heavy rainstorms. In extreme situations the large displacements caused total destruction of the measuring column.

Opis:
Sieroszowice S-1 borehole was drilled by the Geological Institute under the drilling program conducted by Jan Wyżykowski in the previously unexplored central part of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline, contributing to the discovery of the largest European copper ore deposit. The Zechstein copper-bearing series was reached on 23 March 1957, with the ore mineralization interval at a depth of 656.30-658.26 m. Detailed results of chemical analyses and petrographic investigation were included in the ore deposit geological documentation compiled in 1959, but new research methods currently applicable enable the complementary studies to acquire new results. New findings are based on compilation of reflected-light microscopy, CAMECA SX100 electron microprobe studies and LEO scanning electron microscope observations. As a result of the supplementary research, the qualitative and quantitative composition of ore minerals along with the indication of their chemical composition in microprobe studies as well as their distribution in the ore-mineralized interval are presented in detail in this paper. Ore mineralization occurs in the shale-carbonate series and it is generally represented by sulphides of Cu-Fe-S system (chalcopyrite, bornite), accompanied by digenite and covellite, occasionally geerite and spionkopite, but one of the ore intervals is dominated by chalcocite associated with bornite. Pyrite, galena and sphalerite commonly accompany copper sulphides, especially in the uppermost part of the copper-bearing series. A few previously unidentified minerals, such as native silver, silver amalgams, and clausthalite have also been identified. The Weissliegend is characterized by oxidative alteration, typical for the Rote Fäule pattern, and contains only relict sulphide mineralization represented by minor chalcopyrite and pyrite locally corroded by hematite. It displays an elevated concentration of gold as well.

Opis:
Analysis of texture of preglacial sediments from Stanisławice near Kozienice and the Niwa Babicka borehole (map sheet Żelechów) allowed for both recognition of textural features of the sediments and identification of the sedimentary environment conditions. In addition, the recognition of textural features in the Niwa Babicka borehole has brought about the reinterpretation of the age of the upper part of preglacial sediments to assign them to the Pleistocene. The results of the analysis show that the sediments were accumulated in a periglacial climate prior to the first glacial transgression onto the territory of Poland.

Opis:
Unconventional hydrocarbon resources in last years draw the attention of petroleum geologists. Significant position take the gas hydrates, first of all due to occurrences in many regions of the world and the size of the potential resources. These accumulations are localized in Arctic regions with permafrost as well as offshore. First gas hydrate discovery occurred in Siberian gas field Messoyakha in permafrost zone and similar accumulations were found in Alaska. Offshore occurrences are located mainly on continental slope. Drillings and samples from permafrost and seabed provided vast amount of data concerned conditions of gas hydrates formation and concentration and allow to better constrain the volume of hydrate-bearing sediments and their gas yield. Resources of hydrocarbons contained in gas hydrate deposits represent a vast energy source potential. Still essential problem is to elaborate efficient commercial production technology. So far positive developments regard only laboratory or semi-commercial scale.
