Opis:
The east-central part of the Kamienne Mountains in the Sudetes has long been known as an area where landslides occur in abundance. Their extent was shown on first detailed geological maps from the early 20th century and later on Polish geological maps published in the 1970 and 1990. The total landslide area mapped was about 100 ha. The availability of LiDAR data allowed to build digital elevation models of very high resolution and to attempt landslide mapping using diagnostic landform assemblages as guidelines. 30 separate landslides have been mapped, including complex landslide areas involving overlapping landslide bodies oflikely different origin. The total landslide area is at least300 ha, while the largest complexes cover 40-50 ha. LiDAR-based models proved extremely useful in landslide mapping, espe- cially in forested areas.

Opis:
The occurrence of landforms induced by large-scale mass movements has never been reported from the SE part of the Wałbrzyskie Mts., despite detailed geological field mapping carried out twice in the 20th century. This paper provides the first description of landslide-affected slopes in this area, recognized through the combination of LiDAR DEM interpretation and field work. Fifteen landslides have been identified, ranging in size from less than 1 ha to 10.44 ha. Morphological signatures suggest that they represent various types, including minor translational slides, larger rotational complexes and valley-confined flowslides. Closed depressions typify several landslides. In a few instances the valley blocking by landslides can be inferred.

Opis:
The use of multi-temporal LIDAR data in the study of landslides gives many possibilities. The increasing-over-time availability of ALS data encouraged research on development of landslides using Differential Digital Terrain Models. An important passive factor that determines the development of landslides (especially in the Carpathians) is lithology. The author propose a new lithological displacement index, that dscribes the volume of displaced ground (m3 ) per area of 1 m2 of a given lithological unit. The example of the test area of Rożnowskie Lake has shown that lithological displacement index can assess the landslide susceptibility, which is variable and depends on the amount of rainfall. During periods of heavy rainfall, large volumes of displaced rock masses were recorded in the thick-bedded formations. In dry periods, the trend is reversed.

Opis:
The paper presents results of field mapping and geomorphometric LiDAR DEM-based analysis of the Bóbr river valley (Izerskie Foothills, Western Sudetes), between Wleń and Nielestno, where a number of individual landslides and their groups were recognized in 2015-2016. The area affected by mass-movements is located within the Wleń Graben - a regional geological unit that constitutes the south-eastern prolongation of the North-Sudetic Synclinorium. The Wleń Graben is a NW-SE trending, elongated morphological and structural depression composed of sedimentary and volcanic rocks of Late Carboniferous, Permian, Triassic and Cretaceous age. The specific geological structure of the graben is reflected in geomorphic features of the study area. Based on mass movement classifications, the forms are considered as: (i) deep-seated rotational landslides (Świerkowa Dolina and Czerwony Wąwóz landslides); (ii) shallow slides and flows of weathered material and rock blocks (headwater areas in the south-western slopes of Gniazdo Hill, "Izerskie Gołoborza” locality), and (iii) complex landslide forms (deep-seated and shallow landslides on the south-eastern slopes of Gniazdo Hill). The studies confirmed the usefulness of geomorphometric analysis based on LiDAR-derived DEMs combined with field investigations. The landslides are located mainly in heavily forested mountainous areas. It was probably the main reason they had not been identified in the past.

Opis:
In this contribution the author presents the results of geological and geomorphological field mapping and structural analyses conducted within the area of a newly recognized landslide situated near Włodowice, in the southern part of the Nowa Ruda Basin (Central Sudetes, SW Poland). The landform is located within the eastern limb of the Intra-Sudetic Synclinorium (Nowa Ruda Monocline) built of Upper Carboniferous to Lower Permian (Rotliegend) sedimentary rocks. Geomorphological characteristics of the landslide are presented, but the greatest attention is paid to the way of transformation of individual structural elements of basement rocks (bedding surfaces, sets of fractures) by mass movements. The study allows recognition and interpretation of landslide type according to failure mechanism - the analysed form represents a typical translational landslide with a flat, structural slip surface related to bedding planes. A model of the development of a translational landslide under specific geological conditions (monoclinal structure built of different lithological varieties of sedimentary rocks with different rheological properties) is presented. Due to the partial exposure of the slip surface in the upper and lower parts of the landslide, the form should be considered unique among the previously identified landslides in the Sudetes Mts. During this study the author repeatedly confirms the usefulness of analyses of LiDAR models in landslide investigations.

Opis:
Landslide monitoring is applied in case of a hazard for existing infrastructure located on hazardous landslide. It is the exact case of the Kasinka Mala landslide in the Outher Carpathians which causes a danger for the surrounding infrastructure. In order to measure the terrain deformations caused by landslide movements, the unnamed aerial vehicle equipped with a non-metric camera has been used. As a result of processing of aerial photos, orthophotomaps as well as digital elevation models have been produced. It enabled providing information about vertical and horizontal displacements caused by the landslide. The results of analysis shows that the mass movements occur at a different pace, but also that there are stable areas in the landslide. The application of UAV photogrammetry for landslide monitoring allows getting the information about the displacements in the unvegetated areas.

Opis:
The currently available map sheets issued under the edition of the Detailed Geological Map of the Sudetes at the scale of1 : 25,000 (SMGS25), and especially those compiled in the 1950s and 1960s, does not meet the requirement of uniformity and accuracy of mapping, and they do not contain some key information that has been acquired as a result of multidisciplinary geological studies in the Sudetes over the last half-century. New research tools, such as LIDAR models of the land surface (DEM), allow for partial migration of data and (or) the implementation of recent research results, however, it should be verified by experienced geologists in the field. This is documented by two examples of their use to different areas in the Sudetes, which are composed primarily of sedimentary rocks.

The paper presents the results of field mapping and structural analyses conducted within the landslides situated near Ludwikowice K³odzkie, in the central part of the Nowa Ruda Basin (Middle Sudetes, SW Poland). The area affected by mass movements is located within the eastern limb of the Intra-Sudetic Synclinorium (Głuszyca Monocline) composed of Upper Carboniferous to Lower Permian (Rotliegend) sedimentary rocks. Nine individual landslide forms, ranging in area from 0.5 to 22.7 ha, including two landslide complexes (Sokółka landslides, 49.7 ha in total area) have been identified and described in terms of their origin and geological conditions. Studies of landslide morphology and structural analysis allow recognition of several types of mass movements. They include: (i) rotational landslides (landslides Sokółka 1-3 and 5); (ii) translational slides (landslides Miłków 1-3); (iii) deep-seated, compound landslides (landslide Sokółka 4), and (iv) topple evolving into deep-seated rotational (?) slide (Sławosz landslide). The studies repeatedly confirm the usefulness of analyses of LiDAR digital elevation models coupled with field investigations and structural analyses.

Opis:
Recognition and precise delimitation of landslide-affected areas, especially in the mountains, have been a challenge so far. New opportunities emerged after dissemination of high- resolution Digital Elevation Models generated by Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS), which are also used to processing and visualization of geological data. This paper touches the issue in both aspects mentioned above, and presents results of morphometric analysis of a landslide on the northern slope of the Drogosz hill within the Zawory Range, in the southern part of the Krzeszów Basin (Central Sudetes). Attempts ofreconstruction ofthe slip surface and estimation oftotal volume of the landslide colluvialfill were undertaken. Furthermore, differential maps were compiled. They were a basis for the spatial distribution of thickness evaluation. The Drogosz hill landslide seems to be strictly related to the geological structure of the research area. The Zawory Range is composed of Upper Cretaceous, Lower Triassic (Buntsandstein) and Permian (Rotliegendes) rocks. Lack of recognition of landslide phenomena was probably the main reason of misleading interpretations of the Krzeszów area geology. The paper also provides comments on the existing concepts of the geological structure of the Krzeszów Basin, especially of the Łączna Anticline.

Opis:
The paper discusses the problem of quick acquire height data for calculation of escarpment stability. In past the slope of profile was obtainedfrom classical land survey methods (like Total Station, GNSS, etc.), carto- metric measurement on maps or measurements based on a Digital Terrain Modelfrom aerial photography. Now we have a new method that is Airborne Laser Scanning (LiDAR-ALS). In 2011-2014 almost all country was measured in this method. The declared accuracy of height measurement on the durable surfaces is about 0.10-0.15 m. Author compared this method with classical method Global Navigation Satellite System - Real Time Network (GNSS-RTN) on two wooded and bushy areas. The comparison was based on the measurement characteristic points on the profiles and acquisition of height data from LiDAR-ALS data. Data in this method were obtained in two ways: from point cloud and from DTM createdfrom this point cloud. In the next step, height differences were calculated and these data were subjected to basic statistical calculations. The result of the study was a mean error of height data from LiDAR-ALS and conclusions about its usefulness in acquire height data for calculation of escarpment stability.
