Opis:
Workflow of 3D static reservoir modelling, with the emphasis on the different types of data integration is discussed in the paper. The example of two-stage integration of geophysical (seismic and well log), petrophysical, sedimentological and reservoir engineering data within a framework of 3D static reservoir models is given. The main goal of the first stage of data integration is to obtain consistent well profiles of reservoir parameters such as: porosity, permeability, facies, water saturation. For that purpose the example of use of the following data types were presented: well logs, lab data, sedimentological interpretation, well tests and mud logging results. The second stage includes construction of structural model, defining the geometry of analyzed geological object, facies/lithological modelling; calibration of facial and petrophysical well profiles with 3D seismic, usually represented by results of seismic inversion, seismic attributes and meta-attributes and finally, the calculation of the spatial distribution of analyzed reservoir properties.

Opis:
In the years 2010–2013, analysis of rocks that build the sedimentary covers in Poland was carried out from the point of view of utilization of energy accumulated in closed geothermal systems – so-called Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). Preliminary assessment of available digital cartographic data in terms of variability in the structural setting, thickness, and geothermal and reservoir parameters allowed selecting, for detailed studies, an area situated in central Poland in the Kujawy segment of the Mid-Polish Anticlinorium, in the Mogilno-£ódŸ Trough and in the northern margin of the Fore-Sudetic Monocline. A complex structural- parametric model was constructed for this area, which comprised the interval from the base of the Carboniferous up to the base of the Cenozoic. The model was a basis for further modelling (e.g. others, modelling of the electric and thermal energy production potential). The study results indicate that the most favourable conditions for the development of EGS occur in the Lower and Middle Buntsandstein deposits to the NE of the K³odawa salt diapir (in the Krooeniewice–Kutno vicinity). They are buried to depths greater than 5000 m b.s.l., their thicknesses exceed 1000 m and they are characterised by porosity about 2.5%, permeability about 0.1 mD and mean density approximately 2.7 g/cm3.

Opis:
Construction of a data base structure and resulted 3D structure images of sedimentary stratiform deposits was exemplified in a case of rock salt deposit at the Puck Bay (northern Poland). Analysis of 3D models of deposit structure (lithological and facies ones) and distribution models of selected chemical (resource) parameters evidenced a high correlation between the distinguished salt facies types and resource features. The imaged facies and chemical patterns indicated that the middle and western parts of the deposit are the most prospective for future management for both underground salt exploitation and cavern solution (gas/oil storage). Another area for future prospecting and management is located towards NW and NNW from the actual salt deposit area. The presented methodology could be applied to other sedimentary deposits, e.g. raw minerals and lignites, simplifying the resource calculation and projecting their proper and economic management.

Opis:
The issue of three-dimensional geological modelling of stratoidal copper and silver ore deposit in the Fore-Sudetic Homocline has been the subject of hot discussions for many years. Formation of a single layer of deposit body can suggest the ease of interpretation of its form and structure, putting into question the need of three-dimensional visualization. The problem of building and updating a model is directly related to the production scale of KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. which is held over an area of495 km2 with an annual progression of around 480 km of underground workings in three mines, which also includes additional exploration of the deposit body. An important step in the time-consuming 3D geological modelling process is the appropriate selection of previously prepared data and the spatial dimension for the target model - in accordance with its intended purpose. The process of 3D geological modelling, currently carried out at KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., can be divided into two related steps: structural modelling and grade modelling. The components of structural models are used in the grade modelling process, acting as a set of geological constraints during the grade estimation process. The products of both steps find practical application in many processes in a mining company.

Opis:
The Rotliegend Basin is filled with terrigenic complex over 1200 m in thickness. The complex comprises sediments of eolian, fluvial and playa depositional systems (Fig. 1). Reservoir volume of the pore space accessible for the reservoir media is ca. 830-990 km3. Gas exploration in this stratigraphic unit is now focused at depths of around 3000-3800 m b.s.l., in the near-top zone. Poor reservoir properties, especially permeabilities, are here the limiting factor for conventional exploration. A change in the prospecting strategy to comprise tight gas targets moves research into the deeper zone covering the whole profile of the Rotliegend. The paper presents preliminary results of 3D modeling of lithofacies and related petrophysical parameters variability. The static model was created with the use of Petrel 2009.2. Structural framework was built using regional structural, isopach and facies maps. It was relatively detailed, comprising 9 576 000 cells organized in 3 zones and 60 layers. To estimate facies model, the authors used results of integrated environmental analysis of core data and logs from 117 wells (Fig. 2 ). Models of clay content (Vsh) and porosity (PHI) were based on logs from 75 wells. The obtained results show that the northern margin of the Eastern Erg is characterized by presence of numerous eolian strata with porosity ranging from 5 to 15%. Their quality, quantity and thickness decrease toward the north, along with increase in depth. Modeling results indicate that the dominating porous layers of eolian sandstones and fluvial inserts are often intercalated with "non-reservoir" layers revealing porosity below 5%. In this zone, a deeper part of the Rotliegend section should be investigated more thoroughly (Fig. 5, 6, 9). The Pomeranian sector of the Central Basin is dominated by playa and fluvial sediments (Fig. 7, 8, 10). Slightly clayey eolian strata make a few, laterally discontinuous intercalations. Gas accumulations could be expected within local, laterally confined interlayers of eolian and fluvial sandstones with porosity of around 5-12%. Due to the location in the near-base part of the Rotliegend section, close to Carboniferous source rocks, they may be filled with gas, forming so-called sweet spots. Probability of gas occurrence in Pomerania is high as indicated by the Międzyzdroje gas field or small accumulation found in Piaski-PIG2 well. The presented preliminary study allowed to test usability of 3D modeling in tight gas prospecting. Fully reliable results will be obtained after increasing precision of the models comprising detailed seismic interpretation, the use of seismic attributes, and inclusion of quantitative data in diagenetic processes and sedimentology of layers in the modeling process.

Opis:
Digital subsurface mapping on a wide scale started in Poland at the beginning of the 1990s. A team of the Department of Fossil Fuels was engaged in this activity from its beginning. In the first stage simple techniques were based on digitalization of archival maps, which gradually were replaced by development of local and regional maps based on 2D grids. In that period the most significant achievements of the team were Geothermal Atlases of the Polish Lowlands. After 2006, 3D grid-based techniques, comprising static structural and parametric models, gradually replaced the 2D grid-based techniques. They were used in completion of the 3D grid-based models lying behind the maps presented in Geothermal Atlases of the western part of the Polish Carpathians, the Carpathian Foredeep and the eastern part of the Polish Carpathians. According to the world trends in the field of petroleum geology, quantitative petroleum resources assessments were carried out using 2D, 2.5 and 3D grid-based generation, migration and expulsion models. At the same time, numerous 3D static models for CCS purposed were developed. At present, our research moves toward better data integration, uncertainty assessment and 4D modelling for petroleum geology (especially unconventional hydrocarbons), geothermal resources and CCS purposes.

Opis:
The paper describes a workflow (and a resulting 3D geological model), developed for detailed 3D modeling of coal deposits in the "Knurów-Szczyg³owice" Underground Coal Mine in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The model covers 20 sq. km (4 5 km) and integrates data from various sources: mainly coal seam mining maps and lithological borehole profiles, but also auxiliary sources like legacy cross-sections and structural maps. High grid resolution and relatively small uncertainties allow future testing of the model's application in industry-related issues such as mining subsidence prediction or underground coal gasification.
