Opis:
Field research on effective infiltration has been carried out in the Sowie Mountains area in the Sudetes Mountains (SW Poland) in a lysimeter installed 0.9 m below the surface of the ground in a forest. The annual rainfall in 2011 has been measured in the range 520.9–644.8 mm for the three station, while the average precipitation of the long term observation indicate 880 mm. Air temperature was 2°C higher during experiment period from the typical to the region. During annual study (from April 2011 to May 2012) it has been measured effective infiltration volume as 78.1 mm of water in comparison total precipitation of 596.7 mm in nearest station. Groundwater recharge by infiltration is changing during the year as well as in longer period, occurs mainly in cool season (spring, autumn) and indicate impulsive nature. The highest rate was reported in the October-November period, infiltration has exceeded the 30% of the precipitation, what could be explained by the high degree of saturation of the aeration zone. The departure value recorded in the summer relates to the degree of saturation of the aeration zone and there is high rainfall of the order of 200 mm. Then at the turn of July and August there has been measured a 54 mm percolating water. However, in August and September when rainfall over 107 mm water percolation was only 0.5 mm. Recharge and water supply in summer precipitation requires an initialization precipitation value order of 30–50 mm to supplement the state of moisture contains and high transpiration of plants. Infiltrating water showed of nitrate-sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium-sodium chemical type. In the process of infiltration increase of total dissolved solids almost twice has been measured.Water are enriched in the ions+, Mg2+, K+, Ca2+, Cl–, NO3–, SO42– is observed while the reduction of the concentration of HCO3–and NH4+. Chemical water composition is quite similar to the water in the stream located close to the lisymeter point.

Opis:
The paper presents results of studies on groundwater recharge in the Sudety Mountains and their Foreland in hydrological years 2004–2006. Five locations were selected for detailed study with the aid of lysimeters installed permanently in the ground. The recorded infiltration was compared with precipitation and other hitherto gathered data. Precipitation data for the period from January 2004 to July 2005 were provided by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management. The studies showed large variability of infiltration time series and water infiltration mainly in colder half of the year (November to April) in some of sampling points and rates of infiltration more or less equal throughout the whole year in other points. The obtained data show infiltration values to be higher in the Sudety Mountains than in their Foreland. The studies indicate decisive influence of climatic factors such as precipitation and mean annual temperature, on infiltration rates in this region.

The paper presents the results ofmeasurements of groundwater and surface water temperature in the area of the Krajkowo water intake. The influence of extreme natural phenomena on Warta River in Krajkowo on the conditions of exploitation of the shore barrier and the radius well are shown. Changes in the velocity of water flow from the Warta River to the well of the shore barrier has been noticed. Such results shown an important role of protective monitoring of a water capture.

Opis:
Interaction of surface water and groundwater is an important element of issue in hydrogeological measurements. Surface water may infiltrate into the subsurface through the bed sediments of rivers and water reservoirs. An opposite direction of reverse water flow through these sediments is also possible with groundwater seeping into surface water. The paper presents two new measuring apparatus: a so-called “filtrometer” and a “gradientmeter”. The filtrometer enables measuring the intensity of water filtration through bed sediments, both during drainage and infiltration. The gradientmeter is designed to measure the hydraulic gradient in the bed sediments. After measuring both of these parameters, it is possible to determine the in situ hydraulic conductivity of these sediments. Usability testing of the new devices was performed under field conditions. The filtrometer and the gradientmeter were used to determine the drainage conditions of a tested section of the Parsêta river. The drainage volume measured with the instruments was in good agreement accordance with the value obtained using the differential water flow method. The proposed new method way of determining the hydraulic parameters of the bed sediments extends the present scope of hydrogeological research.

Opis:
The initial results of measurements in 4 lysimeter station are presented. The research station is localized in Cracow at AGH area. The measurements have been started in the end of November 2005. One of the lysimeter (A) is weighable, with automatic parameter storing on data logger. The rest of the lysimeters (I, II, III) are gravitation ones with standard seepage water collectors. The lysimeters have been filled with the consolidated medium sands from Bukowno sand pit (A, I), Bolesław (II) and Cholerzyn (III) ones. The infiltration coefficients for lysimeter soils have been assessed as the ratio of measured leaching and precipitation. The fluctuations of the lysimeter A weight against precipitation and infiltration have been allowed to draw some conclusions about the intensity of evaporation and seepage processes.

Opis:
Clay coats on skeleton grains in clastic deposits may be of allogenic origin (detritical coats) or authigenic origin (diagenetic coats). Three types of allogenic coats are distinguished: predepositional - inherited grain rims, syndepositional - rotational plasters on skeleton grains, and postdepositional - coats resulting from mechanical clay infiltration and those formed during pedological processes. The aim of this paper is a review of literature on allogenic coats on skeleton grains, with emphasis on identification of features which may be helpful in distinguishing coats of different origin. Analyses of thin sections carried out by means of polarizing and scanning electron microscopes are suitable techniques to study microstructure of the coats. Basing on them it is possible to find distinct differences between allogenic and autigenic coats. The allogenic coats are often variable in thickness and sometimes laminated. They are usually polymineral and contain organic matter and iron compounds. The amount of coats within a layer may change significally. Some coats form geopetal structures. Distinguishing between detritical clay coats and authigenic clay coats becomes difficult in the case of rocks subjected to advanced burial diagenesis and resulting recrystalization of clay minerals. The correct interpretation of origin of the coatings on the basis of microstructural analysis is essential to further sedimentological interpratations, as it provides more data on conditions of sediment transport and deposition as well as early and late diagenetic processes. Results of microstructural analyses of glacial deposits performed by different researchers in the last years led to discovery of new mechanisms responsible for formation of detritical coats. Thus the questions of the origin of some coatings still remain open.

Opis:
The article presents the evaluation of groundwater renewability due to effective infiltration in the hydrological system of the right-bank basin of Warta, Górna Noteć and Zgłowiączka rivers which is remarkably affected by productive lignite open mines (drainage process) as well as two closed mines (ceased dewatering process). The evaluation has been done using stationary model for groundwater circulatory system with four aquifers basing on groundwater exploitation state in 2012. The forecast of groundwater exploitation process in the next 25 years based on unsteady model for planned periods when mines will be productive and then closed indicates that effective infiltration amount is significantly overestimated for water table depression areas in the regions of open lignite mines. This results in large groundwater level increase (above ground level) in model forecast which needs to be corrected by decreasing the estimated effective infiltration amount to the average value for adjacent areas. This ostensible increase in effective infiltration amount in steady state model is the result of free and elastic groundwater resources detraction and not an actual effective infiltration increase (which was assumed so far for productive open mines areas by Sawicki, 2000 and Szczepiński, 2013).
