    Opis:
    An important problem of the present is the preparation of young people to live among an increasing number of visual messages that come from the world of traditional and modern art and among visual messages from the media environment. In this situation, it is necessary to change early school art education from the traditional transfer of knowledge into educational settings through which students actively develop visual literacy. The artistic applications presented in the text, available on the websites of American museums, are one of the means leading to this goal. However, it should be emphasized that these applications should be a supplement rather than an alternative to school activities, and their selection and use must be carefully thought over.

    The article presents the author’s own education strategy based on a revealing transformative model and addressed to 1st–3rd graders. The essence of the strategy lies in the specific organization of child’s perception process regarding a given visual art where the key issue is the artistic expression of the pupils, especially of paratheatrical nature. The article also presents results of the quasi-experimental research on the creative potentiality of pupils.

    From the earliest years, thanks to the interpretation of the observed events and on the basis of social and cultural messages, children have been independently building naive theories of the world referring to concepts from the visual arts field. This article presents the results of my own research. The subject of it was based on third-graders’ statements from Warsaw primary schools concerning the interpretation and description of the term ‘visual arts’. Focus interviews were used to collect qualitative data. According to the research, students’ attempts to define concepts from the visual arts field are very rich and detailed. Most of the naive theories can be realised by the children who have them and can be made present in the form of their verbal and non-verbal statements. Therefore, the youngest children should be involved in discussions on extended cultural topics, of which they can be fullyfledged participants.
