    In this paper, I focus on one of the children’s rights, which Janusz Korczak raised in his writings, namely the child’s right to the present day, which I understand as a postulate to appreciate the dignity of a child in its everyday life. My aim in this paper is, therefore, not only to reconstruct and uncover the complexities of this postulate, but also to theoretically embed this concept in pedagogical narratives about the child, and more specifically in anthropology of education and upbringing. In order to achieve this aim, 1. I will describe two paths in thinking about the relationship between human beings and their culture, taking into account especially its temporal dimension. Then I will proceed to 2. the concept of children’s rights in Korczak’s understanding of the child subjectivity; in order to indicate 3. the radical and ethical character of message his thinking.

    Janusz Korczak’s works and pedagogical activities can be perceived on different levels. This text is a proposal of the analysis of Korczak’s achievements in the context of building personal relation-ships in the process of educating with respect to alumni and teachers-educators. In Conclusions the created reconstruction of the way Janusz Korczak understood mutual relations was interpreted in the context of the idea of dialogical personalism. It is a theoretical and empirical article based on Korczak’s works, the materials collected during a visit to Korczakianum. The method applied in this reconstruction was the fusion of the analysis of selected works and the open interview with the managers of this research lab.

    Opis:
    This article is an attempt to specify the meanings of a child’s category, childhood and the best interest of the child made on the basis of analysis and interpretation of pedagogical thought of Janusz Korczak and literature analysis. The interpretations and references to Korczak’s thoughts have been there included. The research project were based on document content analysis. Korczak – the figure undoubtedly the foreground in Polish pedagogy and the world doctrine of children’s rights. It is his pedagogical practice and contemporary reception of his thoughts, made by educators and lawyers, that will become the basis for seeking the meanings of categories on which the modern doctrine of children’s rights and the system of their protection are built. As a result: the principle of the best interest of the child as a determinant of the pedagogical practice of Janusz Korczak has been normalized in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and other acts of Polish and international law. This category is interpreted dynamically in the context of changes in the discourses of a child and childhood functioning in social and political life, especially in the area of education and upbringing of the young generation. As a pedagogical category, it is visible in the reflection of many pedagogues as a central category, most often identified with the goal of all adult activities for the child.

    The aim of this paper is to reconstruct Korczak’s notion of “utopia in action”. The notion is based on the philosophy of education concerned with creating of what is common. In this analysis I leave aside Korczak’s “paidocentrism” and focus on the communal elements in his thought – such as the care for the world that is also a call for its shared reconstruction, and the ontological force of love for the world and the people that populate it. Such an interpretation of Korczak’s thought allows it to become a topical alternative for the essentialist, antagonistic and exclusive ideas concerning community education.

    In the article, based on theoretical assumptions about framing mechanisms taken from the work of Georg Lakoff and the Polish tradition of post-dependence research, the author conducts a comparative analysis of cases of reframing the hegemonic and strongly patriarchal narratives regarding the pedagogical legacy of Janusz Korczak and Ivan Jermakov. As a result of systemic changes after 1989, narratives so far suppressed have come to the fore. It applies to minority voices, especially female voices. The comparative analysis took into account the voices of female educators from Poland and the Soviet Union – Maria Rogowska-Falska and Vera Schmidt. The main questions concern how hegemonic pedagogical discourses may erode and whether the processes of redefining pedagogical thought in Poland are analogous to trends in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe? The study points to far-reaching analogies of the processes of reframing in Poland and Russia. This has its consequences for our understanding of the achievements of Janusz Korczak in Poland and the roots of psychoanalysis in the Soviet Union.

    The article presents the results of an educational research project implemented in the school year 2018/2019 in selected primary schools in urban environment (Łódź). The aim of the study was to diagnose Janusz Korczak’s “educational moments” in designing the process of developing cultural competence. The investigator appeared in the role participant as an observer (the researcher came from the examined environment and had the opportunity to “blend into” the events). The material came from participant observation. The observation embraced practical and socio-cognitive activity of the pupils. The results allow recognition in how a child, applying language, marks its being in the world, how it acts via language, how it uses language to reach the mysteries of the world and what it does with language during this operation. The final comment suggests that school is there to help a child to interpret the world, to recognize various phenomena, to assume attitudes towards them, and to make their independent evaluation.
