    Definition of light rail vehicle and technical requirements for its operation is given. Rules for operation on commuter lines, railway and tram tracks, transition sections and infrastructure elements for passenger service are discussed. Concept of passenger service for Wejherowo - Gniewino line and operation assumptions are presented.

    Zagadnienie pojazdów szynowych przewidzianych do obsługi pasażerskiego ruchu aglomeracyjnego, a co za tym idzie o określonych cechach konstrukcyjno-eksploatacyjnych, jest coraz uważniej dostrzegane przez przewoźników kolejowych i przedsiębiorstwa komunikacji miejskiej. Niniejszy artykuł przybliża najważniejsze cechy pojazdów kolejowych, pociągów metra i tramwajów, istotne dla przydatności taboru szynowego w systemie transportu pasażerów w aglomeracjach. W artykule zamieszczono przykładowe rozwiązania konstrukcyjne aglomeracyjnego taboru szynowego produkcji polskiej i zagranicznej, którego parametry eksploatacyjne zaczerpnięte zostały z materiałów promocyjno-informacyjnych producentów.
    At present, railway vehicles intended for passenger inter-agglomeration transport and therefore distinguished by specific design and operating features - to greater extent attract attention of railway operators and municipal transport companies. This paper introduces the reader to the most important features of railway vehicles, underground trains and tramcars with respect to their usefulness for passenger transport in the agglomerations. Examples of engineering solutions for rolling stock for the use in agglomerations supplied by Polish and foreign manufactures have been shown while the technical specifications were taken from promotional literature published by the manufacturers.

    There is a reason why it is said that stations are the business card of railroads. In the IN2STEMPO and ExtenSive projects, re-search work is looking at solutions to improve the passenger experience at stations. This article presents the scope of research carried out within the projects, including the development of more effective tools for crowd management at high-capacity stations, but also on new methods of designing stations and their elements taking into account the latest architectural trends. An important issue is also a problem still troubling the staff of many railroads, that is, improving accessibility from the plat-form to the train. Rail services, by their universality, should take account of the extensive opportunities offered by information technology. This applies to the complete process of passenger service, from purchase of a ticket to arrival at commercial out-lets and the journey itself. The article also outlines the principles of the ExtenSive project, which is a continuation of previous work aimed at developing both passenger applications and software for transport operators, which at the end of the day will enable the provision of transport services of the highest standard. This paper presents the results of the analysis so far on the eve of the projects’ completion, and identifies possible applications of the results of the work carried out.

    Opis:
    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie i omówienie wybranych konsekwencji związanych z uchwaleniem i podpisaniem przez Prezydenta w listopadzie 2016 r. nowelizacji ustawy o transporcie kolejowym. Zaprezentowane w nim zostały argumenty przemawiające za wykorzystaniem przez uprawiony do tego organ, którym stał się minister właściwy ds. transportu możliwości wydania rozporządzenia standardów oznakowania stacji pasażerskich. Skomentowane zostały nowo wprowadzone podstawy prawne. W artykule omówiono efekty obowiązującego dotychczas stanu prawnego dotyczącego przedmiotowej kwestii. Przywołano również efekty badań wykonanych przez organizacje pozarządowe, które sprawdzały spójność i czytelność stosowanego w transporcie kolejowym oznakowania informacyjnego. Odniesiono się do potencjalnej możliwości standaryzacji oznakowania infrastruktury i środków transportu wykorzystywanych w komunikacji miejskiej. Z artykułu wypływa wniosek o potrzebie zapewnienia spójności w stosowanym oznakowania stacji pasażerskich, co zwiększy dostępność transportu kolejowego.
    The purpose of this article is to present and discuss selected consequences connected with the adoption and signing in November 2016 by the President the amendment of the Act on railway transport. The arguments presented in the article support the use of the minister responsible for transport it’s competence of issuing the regulation on the marking standards of passenger stations. The latest change in legal basis concerned this matter was also commented. The article discusses the effects of the current legal status of the described matter. The results of research conducted by non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) were also mentioned. The NGO’s checked the cohesion and legibility of the information marking that is used in the railway transport. It was made a reference towards the possibility of marking standardization of infrastructure and means of transport that are used in public transport (local transport). The article outlines the need to ensure coherence in the field of marking the passenger stations, which will increase the availability of rail transport.

    In the series of articles describing the aerodynamic phenomena caused by the passage of a train, the effects of a train running at high speed on itself, on other trains, on objects on the track and on people are characterized. This impact can be of two types – generated pressure and slipstream. Apart from the literature analysis, the author’s research is also taken into account. The third part presents the characteristic features of the slipstream and its impact on the environment (in the form of forces acting on objects) and railway infrastructure.
