Celem podjętych rozważań jest próba udzielenia odpowiedzi na pytania: Czy można zjawi- skom paranormalnym przypisać jakąś funkcję w akcie wiary? Zjawiska te zostaną poddane anali- zie na tle zagadnienia motywów wiary chrześcijańskiej. Całość rozważań obejmuje trzy etapy: naj- pierw zostanie przedstawiona charakterystyka zjawisk paranormalnych (1); następnie motywów wiary i ich weryfikacji na przykładzie cudu (2); oraz wskaże się na wyzwania jakie dla wiary chrze- ścijańskiej stanowią zjawiska paranormalne (3).
The aim of those deliberation is focused on answering the questions: Can paranormal phenomena be attributed to a function in an act of faith? In this study paranormal phenomena are investigated on the background themes of the credibility of Christian faith. The whole discussion involves three stages: characterization of paranormal phenomena (1), clarification of the motives of the Christian faith and their verification of the example of a miracle (2), as well as presentation along with analysis challenges from the side of paranormal phenomena for the credibility of Christian faith (3).

The author describes his intellectual development and academic pursuits starting from his undergraduate studies at Oxford University in mid-1950s up to the present day, in the perspective of his attempts to resolve the conflict between a materialistically oriented scientific worldview and the worldview of traditional Christianity. In time, he came to recognize the conflict as a problem of distinguishing between levels of explanation or points of terminating an explanation. To deal with this problem adequately, he adopted as his own the program of natural theology laid down by St. Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Theologiae, where Aquinas provided good arguments in favor of the Christian doctrine taking as his starting point the most general phenomena of experience and using the best secular knowledge of his day. Thus Swinburne’s program of natural theology consisted in using the criteria used in modern natural science and historical inquiry for the probable truth of a suggested explanation, analyzed with the careful rigor of modern philosophy, to show the meaningfulness and probable truth of Christian theology. Scientific explanation explains phenomena in terms of prior states of affairs and natural laws; whereas personal explanation explains phenomena in terms of the powers and purposes of agents. Christian metaphysics explains the operation of scientific explanation in explaining why there are states of affairs at all and why the most fundamental natural laws have the character they do, in terms of the power and purposes of God, and in particular his purpose that humans should have a free choice of the kind of persons they are to be. Swinburne extends this model of explanation to show that our historical evidence about the life of Christ makes it very probable that Christ was (and so is) God Incarnate who rose from the dead.

This article presents the importance of the Psalms in the life of a Christian in the light of the teaching of Benedict XVI. The Psalms allow us to dialogue with God in His words. They are a true school of prayer: they teach us to turn to God in every state of mind, in every situation and with every emotion that man experiences. The Psalms take on their full meaning and value in the light of the Person of Jesus Christ. In praying the psalms, the Christian addresses himself to the Father in Christ and with Christ, opening himself to a new perspective which has its ultimate interpretative key in the paschal mystery. In this way he comes to know the Saviour better and can deepen his relationship with Him. Praying the Psalms is important in the contemporary context because, in times of crisis of hope and forgetfulness of God, it teaches us to seek reliable support in the Creator and Saviour and to turn always to Him.

The article presents the teachings of the three desert mothers: Syncletica, Sarah and Theodora, focusing on those indications that can support the spiritual development of both lay and consecrated persons. The basic source is the apophthegmata in the Gerontikon. The analysis of the statements of the desert mothers allows us to conclude that the content of many of their thoughts remains valid to the present day. Importantly, all of them are the fruit of the experience of spiritual life, not theoretical, pious considerations.
W artykule przedstawiono nauczanie trzech matek pustyni: Synkletyki, Sary i Teodory, skupiając się na tych wskazaniach, które mogą być wsparciem dla duchowego rozwoju zarówno osób świeckich, jak i konsekrowanych. Podstawowym źródłem są apoftegmaty zamieszczone w zbiorze „Gerontikon”. Analiza wypowiedzi matek pustyni pozwala na stwierdzenie, że wiele ich przemyśleń pozostaje w swojej treści aktualnych do czasów współczesnych. Co istotne, wszystkie one są owocem doświadczenia życia duchowego, a nie teoretycznych, pobożnych rozważań.

In the modern world, where humility does not enjoy much esteem, Francis takes up the motif of Mary’s humility. He maintains that She is the most humble among all creation. This is the secret of Her heart. Mary’s beauty and success result not only from the fullness of grace bestowed upon Her by God, but also from the fact that She did not focus on Herself or admire Herself but instead She turned to God and neighbours. The article looks closely at Mary’s humility according to Pope Francis in order to discover the originality of his interpretation. It is composed of three points. The first one addresses the question of why Mary’s humility drew God’s attention. The second point presents basic features and manifestations of Mary’s humility. The third point brings to light a model nature of Mary’s humility, that is in what sense She is a “golden rule” for Christians. At the end of the article conclusions are presented. They point out that Francis’s approach to Mary’s humility is somewhat different from the common approach, because he sees in it not only an attribute of faith, but for him it is a point of departure and the origin of faith. The Pope’s reflections are of theological and pastoral nature, because he is focused on Christian practice. He assumes that our following Mary’s humility willoppose dangerous spiritual worldliness and will considerably contribute to creating ‘new humanism’.

Słowo Boże zajmuje centralne miejsce w duchowości Założycielki Zgromadzenia Sióstr Urszulanek Serca Jezusa Konającego. Matka Ledóchowska jest autorką dzieła Rozmyślania, które zawiera rozważania oparte na poszczególnych fragmentach Ewangelii, przeznaczone na każdy dzień roku. Jej Testament jest również pełny odniesień biblijnych i przeniknięty logiką ewangeliczną. Według świętej Urszuli medytacja Słowa Bożego w duchu wiary pozwala lepiej poznać osobę Jezusa Chrystusa i pogłębiać z Nim więź. Matka Ledóchowska swoim podejściem do Pisma Świętego wyprzedziła II Sobór Watykański. Całe jej życie stanowiło żywą egzegezę słów Chrystusa.
The aim of this article is to present selected aspects of the biblical spirituality according to writings of Saint Ursula Ledóchowska. The Word of God has the central position in the spirituality of the Founder of the Congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of the Agonizing Heart of Jesus. Mother Ledóchowska is the author of Meditations, that contain considerations based on specific fragments of the Gospel, intended for each day of the year. Her Testament is also full of biblical references and permeated with the evangelical logic. According to Saint Ursula Ledóchowska the meditation of the Word of God in the spirit of faith enables us to learn more and get to know better the person of Jesus Christ and to deepen the relationship with Him. Mother Ledóchowska, by her attitude to the Holy Bible, was ahead of the Second Vatican Council’s time. All her life was an active exegesis of the words of Christ.

The paper focuses on the issue of Christian apology vis-à-vis Islam in the Middle Ages. The author points out that the Christian attitude towards Islam evolved from associating it with an apocalyptic Antichrist, through seeing it as the fulfillment of Abraham’s promise given to Ishmael and a Christian heresy, up to the approval of Islam as a religion – initially deemed a false one, however with time, recognized as containing elements of the authentic truth revealed by God. Nicholas of Cusa’s original approach towards Islam failed to find followers and sank into oblivion. Over the next centuries the perception of Islam had been dominated by the Turkish threat to Europe and the era of European colonialism in  Asia.
W artykule, podejmującym zagadnienie chrześcijańskiej apologii wobec islamu w średniowie- czu, autor zwraca uwagę, że chrześcijańskie nastawienie do islamu zmieniało się od patrzenia nań jako na apokaliptycznego Antychrysta, przez wypełnienie obietnicy Abrahama danej Izmaelowi oraz chrześcijańską herezję, aż po dostrzeżenie w nim religii, początkowo uznawanej za fałszywą,  z czasem jednak za zawierającej też elementy autentycznej prawdy objawionej przez Boga. Orygi- nalne podejście Mikołaja z Kuzy do islamu nie znalazło kontynuatorów i odeszło w zapomnienie. W kolejnych wiekach sposób postrzegania islamu został zdominowany przez tureckie zagrożenie dla Europy, następnie przez epokę kolonializmu krajów azjatyckich.

Ursula Ledóchowska addresses the issue of the Christian vocation and tasks of women on many occasions and in various aspects, pointing to Mary as a model to follow. St Ursula’s writings contain a broad vision of the spiritual motherhood, encompassing mothers in the family, all lay women and religious sisters completely dedicated to God. Every Christian woman is called to spiritual motherhood, to guide and support people in their path to God; her mission is the apostolate of quiet, serene love, the apostolate of prayer and the apostolate of sacrifice in the image of Christ. A special task of the mother in the family is to care for the development of the faith of her children. The essence of a nun’s spiritual motherhood is to lead others to Christ by His bride totally devoted to the Holy Trinity.
Urszula Ledóchowska wielokrotnie i w różnych aspektach podejmuje temat chrześcijańskiego powołania i zadań kobiety, wskazując na Maryję jako na wzór do naśladowania. W pismach św. Urszuli zawarta jest szeroka wizja macierzyństwa duchowego, obejmująca zarówno matki w rodzinie, wszystkie kobiety świeckie, jak i siostry zakonne całkowicie oddane na własność Bogu. Każda chrześcijańska kobieta powołana jest do macierzyństwa duchowego, do prowadzenia i wspierania osób w ich drodze do Boga; jej misją jest apostolstwo: cichej, pogodnej miłości, modlitwy i ofiary na wzór Chrystusa. Szczególnym zadaniem matki w rodzinie jest troska o rozwój wiary jej dzieci. Istotą macierzyństwa duchowego siostry zakonnej jest prowadzenie innych do Chrystusa przez Jego oblubienicę całkowicie oddaną Trójcy Świętej.

The problem of unity within the Christian and interreligious rapprochement is in its essence complex and multifaceted. The attempt to look at this issue through the experience of the alienation complex wishes to cast some light on the factors that in principle exclude the possibility of reconciliation. The phenomenon of alienation in interdenominational relations is very often overlooked, and its consequences are hastily hushed up. However, a proper assessment of the situation of alienation in mutual relations between churches or religions should be a simple gesture of courage and willingness to make a change. Yet, this is not simple, all the more so when done at someone else’s request. It is still a long way to catharsis and a sense of fellowship with others, but this is what the Catholic Church and the entire Christianity needs. A genuine attitude of openness, ecumenical openness included, is what the Christian community is called to in order to perform its specific missions in the contemporary world.

The Christian Life Community is the successor of the Sodality of Our Lady. The Christian Life Community today is mostly made up of adults. They are formed spiritually and morally. This formation had already existed since the beginning in the Sodality of Our Lady, that is since the foundation of the first Sodality of Our Lady by the Jesuit John Leunis in 1563 at the Collegium Romanum. The adults who co-created the Sodality of Our Lady until the 18th century were kings, aristocrats, bishops, nobles, townsmen, craftsmen, servants, but the presence of adults most fully developed after the reactivation of the Society of Jesus (1814). The indications presented in the Guide by the Jesuit Jan Rostworowski have shaped the characters and attitudes of the adult members of the Marian Sodalities for centuries.
Sukcesorką Sodalicji Mariańskiej jest Wspólnota Życia Chrześcijańskiego. Tworzą ją ludzie do rośli, którzy są formowani duchowo i moralnie. Taka formacja dokonywała się już w Sodalicjach Mariańskich, tj. od założenia przez jezuitę Jana Leunisa pierwszej Sodalicji w 1563 r. w Collegium Romanum. Wśród ludzi, którzy współtworzyli Sodalicję do XVIII w., byli królowie, arystokraci, biskupi, szlachta, mieszczanie, rzemieślnicy, słudzy, ale obecność dorosłych w szeregach Sodalicji najpełniej rozwinęła się dopiero po wskrzeszeniu w 1814 r. Towarzystwa Jezusowego. Wskazania zawarte w Przewodniku jezuity Jana Rostworowskiego kształtowały przez wieki charaktery i postawy dorosłych członków i członkiń Sodalicji Mariańskich.

In the presentation of the subject – preceded by an Introduction, where the Aquinas is presented as Bible’s Commentator – the author examines the saint Thomas’ interpretations of saint Paul’s texts regarding the theme of this research, confronted with the contemporary exegesis, and presents three points: 1 – The vices (Gal 5,19-21); 2 – The fruits of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5,22-23a); 3 – Against such there is no Law (Gal 5,23b; whit the interpretation of Gal 5,24-25). All this permits to the author to conclude that the doctrine of the fruits of the Holy Spirit presented by Saint Thomas in this Commentary is very clear, rich and remains valid and topical and permits to remain in the faith, morality and spirituality of the Church.

W niniejszym artykule została podjęta próba odpowiedzi na pytanie: Jaki obraz Jezusa zawiera Koran, święta księga islamu? Dla wyznawców islamu Koran jest podstawowym źródłem wiedzy o Jezusie. Dlatego warto, aby chrześcijanin poznał „Jezusa Koranu”, który ma wiele wspólnego z „Jezusem Nowego Testamentu”.
The question about Jesus was and is considered in the context of the whole history of the world. It was and is continuously asked: Is Jesus a great religious leader of humanity and only man? Does God the Father speak through Him, to give the final answers to human questions? Is Jesus a Legend? This article tries to answer the following question: What image of Jesus is contained in the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam? For Muslims, the Qur’an is the basic knowledge about Jesus. It is, therefore, important that Christians get to know “Jesus of the Qur’an” / the “Koranic Jesus”, who has a lot in common with “Jesus of the New Testament” / the “New Testament Jesus”.

Opis:
Second Vatican Council took over from the first Vatican Council the doctrine on infallible teaching of the Bishop of Rome, approved it and presented in more complete context. It is the teaching of Dogmatic Constitution on the Church Lumen gentium on infallibility of bishops when together with the pope they exercise the Church's Magisterium, and on supernatural sense of faith of all people, thanks to which they cannot get lost in faith. International Theological Commission issued “Sensus fidei” in the life of the Church, a document which deals with the issue of supernatural sense of faith of all people of God. This document presents sufficient theology of sensus fidei and therefore it is possible to attempt to place the dogma about the pope’s infallibility into more complete context which sensus fidei is a part of. Three carriers of infallibility in the Church: the pope, the college of bishops and sensus fidei are complementary to one another when it comes to explanation and defence of the divine Revelation. None of them can form anything new in relation to the Revelation. All together serve infallibility given to the Church by the Spirit of Truth.

The concept of missionary spirituality falls within the mainstream of Christian spirituality. John Paul II understands it in the personalistic and Christological perspective. According to the Pope’s thought, the missionary spirituality is the fruit of the total submission to the Holy Spirit in the missionary’s aim to become permanently conformed to Christ. This attitude results from a deep union with the Holy Trinity in the experience of the Father through Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit. Imitating Christ, the preacher of the Gospel, is essential for an authentic missionary spirituality. Following the ideal of missionary spirituality leads to an authentic inculturation, love of the Church, shapes the proper spirit of prayer and missionary asceticism, dynamises apostolic commitment and lays the foundations for a true dialogue, inseparable from the missionary activity.
Pojęcie duchowości misyjnej mieści się w głównym nurcie rozumienia duchowości chrześcijańskiej. Jan Paweł II postrzega ją w personalistycznej i chrystologicznej perspektywie. Zgodnie z jego myślą duchowość misyjna jest owocem całkowitego poddania się Duchowi Świętemu w dążeniu misjonarza do trwałego upodobnienia się do Chrystusa. Postawa ta wynika z głębokiego zjednoczenia z całą Trójcą Świętą, zjednoczenia z Ojcem przez Jezusa Chrystusa, w Duchu Świętym. Naśladowanie Chrystusa, głosiciela Ewangelii, jest niezbędnym elementem duchowości misyjnej. Jej praktyka prowadzi do autentycznej inkulturacji, miłości do Kościoła, kształtuje właściwego ducha modlitwy i ascezy misyjnej, dynamizuje zaangażowanie apostolskie i kładzie podwaliny pod prawdziwy dialog, nierozerwalnie związany z misyjną działalnością Kościoła.
