The article presents the most important language rules and tendencies in teaching Polish as a foreign language. The author fully discusses word lists that are obligatory on different levels of proficiency in Polish language, pointing out to their advantages and disadvantages. She reminds about the necessity of completing such lists caused by intensive globalization and computerization. The article presents also problems concerning language used by young peo-ple nowadays, that is not only under the process of constant changes but it also becomes ‘out of date’ very quickly. Using fashionable words and words that have become commonly used as an example the author of the article proves the importance of language intuition while preparing lists of vocabulary for a certain level of language proficiency. The author concen-trates also on describing problems concerning methods of teaching Polish as a foreign lan-guage that are connected with the rapid evolution of the language.

Opis:
Knowledge of word formation is an important element of the grammatical competencies of native speakers. Studying forms and functions of derivates and practising using them is also extremely important for foreigners studying Polish. This article contributes to the discussion about the position and function of word formation in the process of education. The authors claim that a specific system of derivation must determine the way in which it is taught. Critical analysis of solutions that have been used in glottodidactics, suggest a new approach, which would place the didactics of word formation ‘between’ grammar and vocabulary.

The article presents an account of how the Polish language course taught by Polish lecturers at Sofia University at the end of the twentieth–and the beginning of the twenty-first century resulted in the establishment of the educational theatre as an unconventional, creative and extremely successful form of improving the students’ knowledge and practice of Polish lan-guage by staging literary works in a creative way with literary studies, theatrical skills and language studies coming together in this venture. In 2000 the theater staged the play A Win-dow Open to the Wind based on poems by the Polish Sappho-like poetess Maria Pawlikowska- Jasnorzewska. The play was performed to celebrate the opening of the Polish studies room at the University. The next performance staged the play Eutedemis. A Manuscript Found on the Internet based on a poem by the young poetess Małgorzatа Kapicа. These performances fulfill multiple aims and first and foremost they do help develop practical language skills.

In contemporary Polish linguistics, there are two approaches to determining grammatical gender classes: the traditional and the contemporar formal. According to the traditional concept, derived from the classical school, the nominative case is the basis for the division into gender classes. In modern Polish language, the traditional approach distinguishes the following classes: masculine, feminine, and neutral and in the plural form there is also the masculine‑personal and non‑masculine‑personal. On the other hand, in the contemporary approach the basis for division into gender classes is the accusative case, and less frequently, the genitive case. In didactic practice however, and especially in teaching Polish as a foreign language, the traditional approach is applied as it is the most transparent, understandable and accessible to learners.

The article describes how to use the competence of a speech therapist in teaching Polish as a foreign language (especially at the early stage of the glottodidactic process). Teaching pronunciation is an integral element of teaching Polish as a foreign language and according to the authors of the article, it can be more effective if the following issues are taken into consideration: diagnosis of speech disorders (including efficiency of speech organs and phonemic hearing) and an efficient therapy. Such an approach is advised in the case of students: 1. who have no biological deficits, however have problems learning correct pronunciation; 2. who have speech defects; or 3. whose pronunciation in a learnt language is influenced by speech therapy.

In the first part of the article the possibilities of mutual influence between methodology of Polish language teaching and glottodidactics of Polish language are discussed. The article discusses the examples of movable past verbs’ suffixes and their usages as described in four old manuals for teaching Polish as a foreign language. They have been confronted with the results of T. Rittel’s and A. Kowalska’s research, which proves that the authors of the old manuals reflected the Polish language of their times in their textbooks. They usually give one form of the past verb, treating it as a model, which was well justified in the case of a spoken language.

Jej celem jest ułatwienie dostępu osobom o różnych umiejętnościach, zainteresowaniach i potrzebach do technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych (Information and Communication Technologies – ICT). Platforma korzysta z nowoczesnych narzędzi ICT i pozwala na naukę języka od samego początku, oferując atrakcyjne ćwiczenia. Jest tworzona w kilkunastu językach i dostępna dla zainteresowanych z wielu krajów. Portal jest przeznaczony dla dorosłych, którzy chcą uczyć się języka polskiego i poszerzać swoją wiedzę o Polsce. Obejmuje m.in.: kurs języka polskiego na poziomie A1 i A2 (w przygotowaniu poziom B1), przewodnik po gramatyce języka polskiego, słownik z nagraniem poprawnej wymowy poszczególnych słów i zwrotów, narzędzia do komunikacji z odbiorcami i udostępniania postów w ramach sieci społecznościowych. In their article, Irena Masojć and Jiří Muryc present a multilingual e-learning platform www.polski.info. It is innovative, interactive and user-friendly. Its aim is to facilitate access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for people with different skills, interests and needs. The platform uses modern ICT tools and allows students to learn the language from the very beginning, offering attractive exercises. It is available in several languages and caters to interested parties from many countries. The portal is designed for adults who want to learn Polish and expand their knowledge about Poland. It includes, among many things, Polish language courses at A1 and A2 levels (B1 level in preparation), a guide to Polish grammar, a dictionary with recordings of the correct pronunciation of individual words and phrases, tools for communicating with recipients and sharing posts on social networking sites. On the one hand, Masojć and Muryc refer to the broader context of the needs of potential users of this platform, especially in the area of statistics and the attitudes and recommendations of the European Union. On the other hand, they analyze prospective users’ expectations on the basis of research conducted in two neighboring countries, the Czech Republic and Lithuania. The use of quantitative and qualitative methods in the analysis of survey data has allowed the scholars to determine and compare the needs of Czechs and Lithuanians when it comes to learning Polish and to show the extent to which the structure and content of the emerging e-learning platform will be able to meet them.

Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka systemu i form nauczania języka polskiego dzieci polskich emigrantów we Francji w latach 1919–1945. Cezury czasowe nie są przypadkowe – wyznaczają je dwie istotne daty. Rok 1919 to początek emigracji zarobkowej Polaków do Francji trwającej do wybuchu II wojny światowej, a rok 1945 to zakończenie tej wojny. Podstawę materiałową przedstawianych rozważań stanowią źródła archiwalne zgromadzone przede wszystkim w Bibliotece Polskiej w Paryżu oraz publikacje polsko- i francuskojęzyczne odnoszące się do omawianego zagadnienia. Nauka języka polskiego dzieci i młodzieży, bądź kontynuacja rozpoczętej w Polsce edukacji polonistycznej, stanowiła niezwykle ważny aspekt zachowania polskiej tożsamości i pozwalała przetrwać trudny okres emigracji. Polska zbiorowość emigracyjna dążyła do tego, aby nauczanie języka ojczystego było prowadzone systematycznie, intensywnie i skutecznie.
The aim of this article is to characterise the system and forms of teaching the Polish language to children of Polish emigrants in France between 1919 and 1945. The time frames are not accidental as they are marked by two important dates. 1919 marks the beginning of economic emigration of Poles to France, which lasted until the outbreak of the Second World War, while 1945 marks the end of the war. The basis for the considerations presented are archival sources collected primarily at the Polish Library in Paris and Polish and French-language publications related to the subject in question. Teaching of the Polish language to children and young people or the continuation of the Polish language education once begun in Poland was an extremely important aspect of maintaining Polish identity and allowed the Polish community to survive the difficult period of emigration. The Polish émigré community strived to ensure that teaching of the mother tongue was conducted systematically, intensively and effectively.

Artykuł porusza problematykę kształcenia językowego wspomaganego technologicznie (TELL – Technology-Enhanced Language Learning). W tekście zostały przedstawione wyniki badań ankietowych, które przeprowadzono wśród nauczycieli języka polskiego jako obcego po roku zdobywania doświadczeń w prowadzeniu zajęć zdalnych. Rezultaty zostały zestawione z wynikami badań z 2017 roku. Przeprowadzony wówczas sondaż miał charakter rozpoznawczy i koncentrował się na ocenie nastawienia dydaktyków (głównie nauczycieli akademickich) do nauczania wspomaganego komputerowo oraz możliwości wykorzystania technologii informacyjno-komunikacyjnych (TIK) w nauczaniu polszczyzny. Najnowsze badania mają na celu weryfikację tych spostrzeżeń oraz ocenę zmiany w świadomości i nastawieniu dydaktyków, którzy z dnia na dzień musieli przenieść swój warsztat pracy z sali wykładowej do przestrzeni wirtualnej. W badaniu kwestionariuszowym wzięło udział 65 osób. Analiza zebranych odpowiedzi ma charakter ilościowo-jakościowy. W badaniu nastawienia dydaktyków jpjo zastosowano dodatkowo technikę analizy językoznawczej opartej na metodologii fenomenologicznej. Wyniki badań wskazują na znaczny rozwój kompetencji technologicznej oraz umiejętności używania różnego rodzaju platform i aplikacji edukacyjnych przez nauczycieli, ale i podkreślają potrzebę doskonalenia metod nauczania w oparciu o podejście działaniowe, aby w pełni wykorzystać możliwości kształcenia językowego poprzez prowadzenie autentycznych działań komunikacyjnych w wirtualnym środowisku.
Technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) is the subject of this article, focusing on the results of a survey conducted among teachers of Polish as a foreign language (TPFL) after they have accumulated one year’s worth of experience in holding remote classes. The results have been juxtaposed with those of a study conducted in 2017 on a similar group of respondents. Intended as a reconnaissance, that earlier poll aimed to assess teachers’ (including mainly academic teachers’) attitude towards computer-aided teaching and the possibility of using information and communication technologies (ICTs) in teaching Polish. The most recent study is intended to serve as a basis for comparison with the previous findings to assess the changes in viewpoint and attitude among the teachers who had had to move their workplace from the classroom into the virtual realm practically overnight. The questionnaire study covered 65 individuals. The analysis of thereturned answers is quantitative and qualitative. Additionally, the technique of linguistic analysis based on phenomenological methodology was used in this research into the attitudes of teachers and methodologists of Polish as a foreign language. The research findings point to the significant development of technological expertise and of skills related to using various kinds of educational applications and platforms by teachers, but also underscore the need to improve teaching methods based on an action-oriented approach, to make full use of the possibilities of language teaching by conducting genuine communication activities in a virtual environment.

Opis:
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie problematyki nauczania języka i kultury polskiej w warunkach zdalnych na przykładzie Bałtyckiego Uniwersytetu Federalnego im. Immanuela Kanta w Kaliningradzie. Przedstawiony został przebieg wydarzeń edukacyjnych i kulturalnych promujących język i kulturę polską w roku akademickim 2020/2021, takich jak: Międzynarodowe Multimodalne Dyktando oraz konkurs krasomówczy PaintTalks, które zostały zorganizowane w ramach Dni Języka i Kultury Polskiej. Dodatkowo omówiono sposoby realizacji dwóch kursów przedmiotowych przeznaczonych dla studentów studiów licencjackich na kierunku filologia obca: język polski i literatura, które w całości odbyły się w formie online; są to: Wprowadzenie do kultury polskiej i Praktyczny język polski. Uwzględnione zostało także badanie ilościowe, a kwestionariusz ankietowy prezentuje opinie i refleksje uczestników kursów na temat atrakcyjności i efektywności takiej formy uczenia się języka obcego. Powodem podjęcia wybranej tematyki jest potrzeba odpowiedzi na aktualne wyzwania edukacyjne związane z nauczaniem online oraz zaprezentowanie różnorodnych przedsięwzięć promujących język i kulturę polską poza granicami kraju. Tekst wpisuje się we współczesne badania nad promocją języka polskiego jako obcego oraz glottodydaktyczne poszukiwania dotyczące polonistyk światowych.
The purpose of the article is to discuss the issue of teaching the Polish language and Polish culture in remote conditions on the example of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University in Kaliningrad. The study presents the educational and cultural events promoting Polish language and culture in the academic year 2020/2021. They included the International Multimodal Dictation and the PaintTalks oratorical competition, which were organized as part of the Days of Polish Language and Culture. The article also presents the methods of implementing two subject courses intended for undergraduate students of foreign philology in the program Polish language and literature, which were entirely conducted in an online form: Introduction to Polish culture and Practical language Polish. Further, the paper shows the results of a quantitative study and of a questionnaire, which express the course participants’ opinions and reflections on the attractiveness and effectiveness of this form of learning a foreign language. The reason for taking up this topic is the need to respond to the current educational challenges related to online teaching and to present various projects aimed at promoting the Polish language and Polish culture abroad. The text is in line with contemporary research on the promotion of Polish as a foreign language and international glottodidactic studies of Polish.
