In the first part of the article the possibilities of mutual influence between methodology of Polish language teaching and glottodidactics of Polish language are discussed. The idea of cultural program and cultural method designed to realize it is briefly presented here. In the second part of the article the idea of cultural program is discussed in diachronic aspect: the possibility of introducing teaching (presentation) of foreign culture as a part of foreign lan-guage teaching as well as Polish culture as a part of teaching Polish as a foreign language. The article concludes with some predictions concerning leading tendencies in glottodidactics of Polish language between 2011 and 2020.

The article discusses the usefulness and adequacy of hermeneutic theory of language by Hans¬ Georg Gadamer in glottodidactic process. Soren Gauger is a Canadian writer who has decided to write in Polish. The author of the article examines the writer’s motivations, the way he develops his ideas and his first literary creation in Polish. Soren Gauger’s works reflect his attitude towards Polish culture where he invents defence mechanisms based on feelings of inferiority. In Soren Gauger’s literary works he can be seen to be disregarding the influence of popular trends in hegemonic cultures, referring to old and old-fashioned works, and stylinghimself on marginality and fantasticality.

The article analyzes a medium¬ like creation of a poet in Czesław Miłosz’s writings. In his works a poet is presented as a chosen man, stigmatized with an artistic destiny, dependent on ‘forces’ and ‘voices’. Splitting poet’s consciousness enables a medium-like relation, called ‘instrumental’ by Miłosz: the artist is being passively subjected to voices like an instrument. The lyric of hauntings, created this way, shows a poet inspired by daimonion’s voice and so regarded as theios aner. Miłosz recalls an antic tradition and the idea of divine inspiration (daimon) but above all the idea of daimonion created by Socrates: daimonion is perceived here as ‘a voice of god’, or ‘a divine touch’. In Miłosz’s poems that have a soliloqium form, the voice of his daimonion manifest itself through the rhythm and incantation of speech. Inspiring and ‘rhythmic whispers’ of a daimonion that take possession of the poet’s con-sciousness, are also regarded as a compulsion of metre, “disgust of rhythmic speech”. A struggle against a poem, against a “defect of harmony” (described by S. Balbus) is aimed also at daimonion’s incantation. However, the rhythmic whisper of daimonion favours the process of self-creation, its lack (as in the poem Bez daimoniona) directs attention to the autobiography and reveals an existential aspect of poet’s being.

Dictionaries have had a very important didactic function ever since they first appeared, and they have always been an indispensable help to learners of all languages. In this text, the author reflects whether the general, monolingual Polish Academy of Sciences Great Dictionary of Polish, which has been avail-able on the Internet for several years now, might be a useful tool for develop-ing linguistic competence of Polish language learners; in other words, whether this dictionary can be used as a learner’s one. The paper starts with a brief de-scription of the monolingual learner’s dictionary as a specific lexicographic genre and then presents the thorough analyses of the Great Dictionary of Polish macro-and microstructure with the eye on the usefulness of solutions for language learners.

The article describes how to use the competence of a speech therapist in teaching Polish as a foreign language (especially at the early stage of the glottodidactic process). Teaching pronunciation is an integral element of teaching Polish as a foreign language and according to the authors of the article, it can be more effective if the following issues are taken into consideration: diagnosis of speech disorders (including efficiency of speech organs and phonemic hearing) and an efficient therapy. Such an approach is advised in the case of students: 1. who have no biological deficits, however have problems learning correct pronunciation; 2. who have speech defects; or 3. whose pronunciation in a learnt language is influenced by speech therapy.

The article presents analyses of the form of the noun used as a predicate in the spoken Eastern Slavonic language, the language of the Lemkos, which has been in contact with the Polish language. While in Eastern Slavonic languages, both Instrumental and Locative can be used in such a function, in the Polish language it is restricted to the Instrumental. In the Lemkos’ language, the two variants are possible: both Instrumental and Locative can be used, depending on the type of feature (constant or changeable) that the predicate expresses. However, among the younger generation it is the Instrumental that dominates, which could be caused by the influence of the Polish language.

W artykule podjęto zagadnienie kształtowania kompetencji międzykulturowej na lektoratach języka polskiego prowadzonych w okresie pandemii. To aktualny problem wpisujący się w liczne rozważania na temat wyzwań, które stanęły przed lektorami zmuszonymi do przejścia na zdalny tryb nauczania. Poza nauczaniem języka polskiego jako obcego glottodydaktycy mają za zadanie przygotować cudzoziemców do zetknięcia się z polską kulturą, przejawiającą się m.in. w języku i za jego pomocą wyrażaną. W pracy rozpoznano zmiany, ograniczenia i możliwości w dydaktyce kultury polskiej jako obcej, jakie można zaobserwować w ciągu ostatnich kilkunastu miesięcy. Rozpoznanie to należy traktować jako wstępne, gdyż zjawisko, o którym w nim mowa, wciąż trwa i oddziałuje na kształcenie językowe. Główne obserwacje dotyczą aktualności i przydatności wybranego materiału kulturowego wykorzystywanego na lektoratach. Kwestie te wynikają ze zmian zaobserwowanych w życiu codziennym po rozpoczęciu pandemii. W artykule zostały też przedstawione refleksje dotyczące sposobów doświadczania kultury przez cudzoziemców uczących się polszczyzny. Rozważania podjęte w artykule sytuują się w obszarze dydaktyki kultury polskiej i glottodydaktyki kulturoznawczej, czyli kręgu badań nad tłem kulturowym w nauczaniu języka polskiego jako obcego.
The paper discusses the shaping of intercultural competence in courses of Polish as a foreign language conducted during the pandemic. This is a topical issue which also fits within the framework of the multiple investigations into the challenges faced by teachers forced to switch to distance education. Apart from teaching Polish as a foreign language, glottodidactics specialists’ tasks also include preparing foreigners for the encounter with Polish culture, manifested for instance in and expressed through the language. The paper identifies changes, limitations, and opportunities in teaching of Polish culture as a foreign culturethat it has been possible to observe over the last year or so. The investigation should be regarded as preliminary, as the phenomenon discussed is still present and continues to have an impact on language teaching. The principal observations concern the relevance and usefulness of the selected cultural material used during the language courses. These issues result from the changes observed in daily life after the start of the pandemic. The paper also presents reflections on the ways in which foreigners learning Polish experience the culture. The discussion undertaken in the paper fits in the field of teaching Polish culture andcultural studies glottodidactics, i.e. within the area of research on cultural background in teaching Polish as a foreign language.

The article presents the most important language rules and tendencies in teaching Polish as a foreign language. The author fully discusses word lists that are obligatory on different levels of proficiency in Polish language, pointing out to their advantages and disadvantages. She reminds about the necessity of completing such lists caused by intensive globalization and computerization. The article presents also problems concerning language used by young peo-ple nowadays, that is not only under the process of constant changes but it also becomes ‘out of date’ very quickly. Using fashionable words and words that have become commonly used as an example the author of the article proves the importance of language intuition while preparing lists of vocabulary for a certain level of language proficiency. The author concen-trates also on describing problems concerning methods of teaching Polish as a foreign lan-guage that are connected with the rapid evolution of the language.

The article discusses the examples of movable past verbs’ suffixes and their usages as described in four old manuals for teaching Polish as a foreign language. They have been confronted with the results of T. Rittel’s and A. Kowalska’s research, which proves that the authors of the old manuals reflected the Polish language of their times in their textbooks. They usually give one form of the past verb, treating it as a model, which was well justified in the case of a spoken language.
