    Objectives: Ameloblastoma is an aggressive benign tumor of epithelial origin that may arise from the enamel organ, remnants of the dental lamina, the lining of an odontogenic cyst, or possibly from basal epithelial cells of the oral mucosa. It occurs both in maxilla and mandible and may cause important facial deformities. Treat-ment involves radical surgery with a safety margin. The main objective of this paper was to review the most sig-nificant case series in the literature to define which kind of treatment achieves best results, regarding disease control and recurrence rates. Methods: We conducted an analytic literature review of the following databases: Medline and Scielo. Discussion: Treatment with curettage is inadequate and may leave islands of the tumor within the bone. Marginal or en bloc resection is the widest form of therapy with many surgeons advocating margins of excision to include 1.5 cm of clinically normal bone. Conclusion: The high recurrence rates of conservative treatment make it prohibitive.

    The aim of this paper is to present the case of a 70-year-old women with endolymphatic sac tumor and temporal bone destruction treated at Otolaryngology Department of MUG. The patient was admitted to our Department due to a 3-year history of hearing loss, dizziness and ear pain. The first diagnosis was temporal bone tumor connected with von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL). The patient was surgically treated. During intraoperative examination, a neoplasm was determined. The tumor was excised via transmastoid approach with sigmoid sinus skeletonization. After treatment, her pains disappeared. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examination revealed endolymphatic sac tumor. Follow-up CT showed no tumor remission.

    A multiform adenoma is the most commonly diagnosed benign tumor of the salivary glands. In the majority of patients, surgical resection of the tumor with the adequate surrounding tissue of salivary gland allows for complete recovery. A small percentage of the cases is a recurring pleomorphic adenoma. Even more rarely the diagnosis of carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma is made. The study presents two clinical cases of the malignant transformation of pleomorphic adenoma into the myoepithelial carcinoma. The surgical treatment and additional radiotherapy were performed in both cases.

    Introduction: Pleomorphic adenoma is a benign tumor which occurs most commonly in the major salivary glands. It is very rare in the nasal cavity and may be misdiagnosed because of its uncharacteristic clinical and histopathological manifestation. Case report: A case of a 42-year-old patient with pleomorphic adenoma on the lateral nasal wall has been presented. The tumor was accidentally found during FESS and septorhinoplasty. Initially, based on the histopathological examination of the obtained sample, there was a suspicion of adenoid cystic carcinoma. Later, the neoplasm was completely removed by the open septorhinoplasty and histopathological re-examination showed features of pleomorphic adenoma. Long term followup was necessary due to the potential risk of local recurrence.
    Wstęp: Gruczolak wielopostaciowy jest nowotworem łagodnym występującym najczęściej w śliniankach przyusznych. Bardzo rzadko pojawia się on w jamie nosa, co w połączeniu z jego niecharakterystycznym obrazem klinicznym i histopatologicznym stwarza ryzyko postawienia błędnego rozpoznania. Opis przypadku: Przedstawiono przypadek 42-letniego pacjenta z gruczolakiem wielopostaciowym na bocznej ścianie nosa. Guz został wykryty przypadkowo podczas endoskopowej operacji zatok i septoplastyki, a na podstawie badania histopatologicznego pobranego wycinka początkowo wysunięto przypuszczenie raka gruczołowo-torbielowatego. Guz został doszczętnie usunięty z dostępu do septorynoplastyki otwartej. W ponownym badaniu histopatologicznym wykazano cechy gruczolaka wielopostaciowego. Ze względu na ryzyko wznowy miejscowej, pacjent pozostał pod opieką poradni laryngologicznej.

    Opis:
    Maxillofacial tumors are rare malignancies that constitute about 0.2–0.5% of all human malignancies. The initial symptoms of the disease are non-typical and imitate inflammation of paranasal sinuses. Most often, patients report one-sided nasal obstruction with bloody and purulent discharge and headaches. In addition to physical examination – often with the use of endoscopic nasal cavity assessment, it is necessary to perform computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses and magnetic resonance for accurate assessment of the extent of the lesions. Histopathological examination of tumor specimens is necessary for making the final diagnosis and planning treatment. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common histological type in the sinonasal region. Other common malignancies in this area include adenocarcinoma, carcinoma adenoides cysticum, lymphomas, melanoma, and olfactory neuroblastoma. The treatment of choice of all malignant changes in the sinonasal complex, except for lymphomas, is surgical treatment. Unfortunately, a still high percentage of lesions is diagnosed at an advanced stage of the disease, when the infiltration includes the skull base. In these cases, the decision to perform a radical surgical treatment in the patient is very difficult and requires a lot of experience in the surgery of the skull base. However, due to the low radiosensitivity and low effectiveness of chemotherapy in sinonasal malignancy, resection of lesions and complementary treatment contribute to the prolongation of overall survival in this group of patients. The article discusses the cases of two patients with advanced cancer of the sinonasal complex reffered to the Otolaryngology Department of the Medical University of Warsaw.

    Opis:
    Increase in the occurrence of multiple primary malignant tumours is associated with significant extention of survival rate among patients treated for malignant neoplasm. Treatment of multiple primary malignant tumours demands precise clinical evaluation, imaging, laboratory diagnostics and histopathological evaluation of the lesion. In the presented case immunohistochemical staining of lymphatic metastasis from nasopharyngeal carcinoma was mimicking distant metastasis from poorly differentiated ovarian cancer. It impeded histopathological diagnosis and required additional imaging enriched by PET-CT, which allowed the visualization of the second tumor.

    Praca przedstawia rzadki przypadek tłuszczaka okolicy przestrzeni przygardłowej oraz gardła środkowego u 46-letniego mężczyzny. Tłuszczak ujawnił się nagle podczas jedzenia, dając uczucie przeszkody w  gardle. Rozpoznanie przedoperacyjne ustalono na podstawie bardzo charakterystycznego obrazu KT (niska gęstość, obecność  torebki, brak wzmocnienia kontrastowego oraz wykorzystanie techniki z supresją tłuszczu). Guz został usunięty operacyjnie w całości, z dojścia przez jamę ustną. Podkreślono rzadkość występowania guzów o tym utkaniu w obrębie przestrzeni przygardłowej i gardła, uwarunkowaną niewielką ilością tkanki tłuszczowej w tej okolicy, a także możliwość powstania burzliwych objawów obturacji dróg oddechowych wywołanych nagłym ujawnieniem się guza położonego w tkankach głębokich.
    The paper presents the rare case of lipoma of parapharyngeal space and oropharynx in 46-year-old man who came out suddenly while eating, giving the feeling of an obstacle in the throat. Preoperative diagnosis was based on a characteristic image of KT (low density, presence of capsule, lack of contrast gain and the use of fat suppression technique). The tumor was surgically removed in its entirety, from reaching the mouth. Emphasized the rarity of tumors of the weaving within the parapharyngeal space and throat, conditioned by a small amount of fat in this area, as well as the possibility of turbulent obstructive symptoms caused by the sudden disclosure of a tumor located deep in the tissues.

    The authors present a rare case of endovascular papillary angioendothelioma also known as “Dąbska tumor”, which occurs mainly in children and young adults. This neoplasm was found in the right maxillary sinus and nasal cavity in a 22-year-old woman that remained undiagnosed for one year. After the initial diagnostic imaging, the tumor was removed through the endoscopic approach. After a year, the patient developed a mucopurulent cyst in the postoperative cavity, which was removed without any recurrence of the neoplastic disease in the follow-up histopathological examination. The authors present the clinical picture of this potentially malignant neoplasm and review the current literature.
    Autorzy opisują rzadki przypadek śródbłoniaka wewnątrznaczyniowego brodawkowatego, znanego również jako „guz Dąbskiej”, występującego głównie u dzieci i młodych dorosłych. Nowotwór ten został stwierdzony w prawej zatoce szczękowej i w jamie nosa u 22-letniej pacjentki, u której rozwijał się niezdiagnozowany przez jeden rok. Po wstępnej diagnostyce obrazowej guz został wycięty doszczętnie na drodze endoskopowej. Po upływie roku u chorej doszło do wytworzenia torbieli śluzowo-ropnej w loży pooperacyjnej. Torbiel usunięto, a w kontrolnym badaniu histopatologicznym nie stwierdzono nawrotu choroby nowotworowej. Autorzy przedstawiają kliniczny obraz tego potencjalnie złośliwego nowotworu oraz dokonują przeglądu aktualnego piśmiennictwa.
