Outliers are considerably inconsistent and exceptional objects in the data set that do not adapt to expected normal condition. An outlier in wave measurements may be due to experimental and configuration errors, technical defects in equipment, variability in the measurement conditions, rare or unknown conditions such as tsunami, windstorm and etc. To improve the accuracy and reliability of an built ocean wave model, or to extract important and valuable information from collected wave data, detecting of outlying observations in wave measurements is very important. In this study, three typical outlier detection algorithms:Box-plot (BP), Local Distance-based Outlier Factor (LDOF), and Local Outlier Factor (LOF) methods are used to detect outliers in significant wave height (Hs) records. The historical wave data are taken from National Data Buoy Center (NDBC). Finally, those data points are considered as outlier identified by at least two methods which are presented and discussed. Then, Hs prediction has been modelled with and without the presence of outliers by using Regression trees (RTs).

To realize “seamless” connection of ocean port container multimodal transport, efficiently carry out “door-to-door” transport of ocean port containers and overcome the shortcomings of existing highway and railway vehicles, this study takes the standard for heavy-duty container vehicles in TB1335-1996 Railway Vehicle Strength Design and Test Identification Code as the design basis and designs a new ocean port container transport vehicle in combination with automatic guidance technology. This study innovatively designs the automatic lifting system of the bogie and the docking part of the vehicle, introduces the automatic guidance technology and the remote-control technology to optimize the car body structure, and uses the SAP software to carry out the finite element analysis of the car body load capacity and Flexsim software to carry out the simulation analysis on the operation of vehicles. The designed transfer vehicle can improve the transfer efficiency of ocean port containers, reduce the transit time of field and station equipment and container transport links, and improve the level of multimodal transport and comprehensive economic benefits.

The effect of underwater radiated noise (URN) pollution (produced by merchant ships) on marine ecology has become a topic of extreme concern for both the academic community and the general public. This paper summarises some research results and modelling about shipping noise published over several decades, which comprises the research significance of low-frequency ambient noise and shipping noise, shipping noise source levels (SL), empirical models and the measurement standards of shipping noise. In short, we try to present an overall outline of shipping noise and ocean ambient noise for related research.

In order to improve the working stability of distributed marine green energy resources grid-connected system, we need the big data information mining and fusion processing of grid-connected system and the information integration and recognition of distributed marine green energy grid-connected system based on big data analysis method, and improve the output performance of energy grid-connected system. This paper proposed a big data analysis method of distributed marine green energy resources grid-connected system based on closed-loop information fusion and auto correlation characteristic information mining. This method realized the big data closed-loop operation and maintenance management of grid-connected system, and built the big data information collection model of marine green energy resources grid-connected system, and reconstructs the feature space of the collected big data, and constructed the characteristic equation of fuzzy data closed-loop operation and maintenance management in convex spaces, and used the adaptive feature fusion method to achieve the auto correlation characteristics mining of big data operation and maintenance information, and improved the ability of information scheduling and information mining of distributed marine green energy resources grid-connected system. Simulation results show that using this method for the big data analysis of distributed marine green energy resources grid-connected system and using the multidimensional analysis technology of big data can improve the ability of information scheduling and information mining of distributed marine green energy resources grid-connected system, realizing the information optimization scheduling of grid-connected system. The output performance of grid connected system has been improved.

Bohai is a typical marginal oil field in an ice region, where most of the oil and gas platforms are economical. Sea ice is the main factor that affects the safety of oil and gas platforms in Bohai. Due to the complexity of the ice load and ice-induced vibrations, there are large security risks when developing Bohai oil and gas in the winter. It is difficult to ensure the safe production of oil and gas in winter using existing sea ice disaster warning technologies. Based on winter oil and gas production in the Bohai Sea’s Liaodong Bay, a set of suitable sea ice management systems is proposed in this paper. These systems integrate sea ice monitoring, risk assessment and risk prediction technologies. Based on the risk warning system, an ice management model of a Bohai ice platform has been put into practice, which ensures the safe production of the platform in winter.

To harness the endless hydrokinetic energy of the Kuroshio current, the joint research team of the National Taiwan University and the National Taiwan Ocean University has developed a floating Kuroshio turbine (FKT) system in Taiwan. In normal operation, the system floats at a certain small depth from the ocean surface to reduce the wave effects and take advantage of faster current speeds. In the present study, the effect of the mooring line on the system dynamics is investigated computationally. Two different auxiliary mooring line designs and, for each design, three different common mooring lines (polyester ropes of neutral buoyancy, iron chains, and 6×19 wires ropes with wire core) are examined. The study makes use of several commercial and in-house packages, integrated to find various coefficients. It is found that the mooring line, the auxiliary mooring line design, and the gravity centre can have a significant effect on system fluctuations in normal operation if the combination of these factors is not properly matched.

The article presents the results of the analysis of energy conversion cycles making use of thermal energy of oceans. The objects of analysis were two cases of closed Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plants, which were: the cycle in which the vapour of the working medium was produced by warm oceanic water in the circum-equatorial zone, and the so-called “arctic” cycle in which this vapour was produced by non-frozen water in the circumpolar zone. Between ten and twenty low-boiling media were examined for which operating parameters were optimised to obtain the highest cycle efficiency. A preliminary design of an ORC turbine which was obtained by optimising basic design parameters is included. It has been proved that realisation of the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) cycle is possible both in the warm and permanently frozen regions. The results of the calculations have also revealed that the efficiency of the OTEC cycle is higher in the circumpolar zone. Selecting a low-boiling medium and designing a highly efficient turbine operating in both abovementioned regimes is technically realisable.
