Opis:: Necessity to design and build a ship for winning Fe-Mn concretions from sea bed, and put it into operation, results mainly from decreasing land resources of mineral rough materials and increasing prices of metals. Main dimensions and parameters of such mining ship were determined by elaborating its main design assumptions and making use of suitable data on drilling ships considered similar from the point of view of attributed functions and spatial arrangement. In this paper a design study on preliminary concept of dimensions and spatial arrangement of a ship for winning poly-metallic concretions from sea bed, is presented. The study has been aimed at elaboration of an appropriate mathematical model to be applied for optimization of ship’s winning system.

Opis:: One of the crucial systems of sea mining ship for poly-metallic concretions is its motion control system (SMC). Power of such system depends on sea environment characteristics and main dimensions of the ship. It can be expected that it will have important influence on total power of the ship’s power plant and in effect on the mining ship’s dimensions. In this paper is presented one of the possible ways of preliminary estimation of design power of SMC system for sea mining ship. Since details of design solution of such system for the ship in question are unknown (ships of the kind have not been built so far) the presented results should be considered to be the first estimation of the order of the power demand.

Opis:: In recent years dynamic increase of orders for ships intended for liquified natural gas (LNG) shipping has been observed with simultaneous trend of increasing their transport capability. This results from the fact that natural gas has become today the third energy source worldwide just next to crude oil and coal. The fast growth of demand for natural gas and its limited resources would cause growth of its price, therefore better solutions of natural gas transport technology with respect to economy, ecology and safety should be searched for. This paper presents various technologies for natural gas transport by sea with special attention paid to some alternative methods of transport, namely: CNG and NGH ransport technologies in contrast to LNG one.
