Opis:
The self-propulsion test of underwater vehicles is the key technique for predicting and evaluating the navigation performance of these submersibles. In this study, the numerical simulation of a standard propeller JD7704+Ka4-70 is first presented and the results are compared with experiments to validate the numerical approaches. The reason why the propulsion efficiency of the ducted propeller is higher than that of the conventional propeller is explored. Then, the paper proposes a series of numerical simulations conducted to test the performance of the ducted propeller designed according to the JD7704+Ka4-70 in order to match with the unmanned semi-submerged vehicle (USSV), and the propeller’s open water characteristic curves are obtained. The results show a reasonable agreement with the regression analysis. Afterwards, the numerical simulations focus on a self-propulsion test of the USSV with the designed ducted propeller and the self-propulsion point is obtained. The streamlines through the hull as well as the ducted propellers are clearly obtained, together with the velocity distributions of the propeller plane. The results vividly demonstrate the hydrodynamic performance of the USSV with the designed propellers. In this paper, all the CFD simulations are based on the numerical software, Star-CCM+, and use the Reynolds-averaged Navier‒Stokes (RANS) equations with the shear stress transport (SST) k-omega turbulence model.

Opis:
The paper presents the results of numerical simulations of ship propeller operation bearing the name of Propeller Open Water (POW) Tests. The object of tests was a sample ship propeller (PPTC1), the geometrical and kinematic data of which are available, along with the results of model tests, on the official page of the research centre involved in the measurements. The research aimed at verifying the correctness of results of numerical simulations performed in the model and real scale. The results of numerical analyses performed in the model scale were confronted with those measured in the experiment. Then, making use of dimensionless coefficients which characterise propeller’s operation, the recorded model data were extrapolated to real conditions and compared with corresponding results of simulations. Both the numerical simulations and the experimental research were performed for the same propeller load states. The reported research is in line with other activities which aim at developing advanced numerical methods to.

Opis:
The article presents the experiment’s results of the lifeboat model lowered with an initial speed and then released to fall onto a flat water surface. The purpose of the research is to determine the trajectory of the vertical boat motion and describe it with a mathematical model. This is closely related to determining the damping factor since the vertical motion is damped and the lifeboat gets balanced and stops moving after some time. The procedure of selecting parameters in the mathematical model to adjust to the results of the experiment was described in details. The summary describes the imperfections of the presented damping model and their probable causes.

Opis:
The longitudinal motion characteristics of a slender trimaran equipped with and without a T-foil near the bow are investigated by experimental and numerical methods. Computational fluid dynamics ( CFD) method is used in this study. The seakeeping characteristics such as heave, pitch and vertical acceleration in head regular waves are analyzed in various wave conditions. Numerical simulations have been validated by comparisons with experimental tests. The influence of large wave amplitudes and size of T-foil on the longitudinal motion of trimaran are analyzed. The present systematic study demonstrates that the numerical results are in a reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The research implied that the longitudinal motion response values are greatly reduced with the use of T-foil.

Opis:
Floating wind power platforms are in constant motion due to waves when deployed at sea. This motion directly affects the stability and safety of the platform. Therefore, it is very important to study the laws governing the platform’s dynamic response. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of an offshore floating wind power platform were analysed under nine different sets of operating conditions using a numerical calculation method. Following this, a scaled 1:50 platform model was tested in a tank. Model tests were carried out with different wave conditions, and dynamic response data for the platform were measured and analysed. The hydrodynamic variation rules of floating wind power generation platform in waves were obtained. Some effective measures for maintain the stability and safety of wind power platforms are put forward that can provide a reference for dynamic stability research and the design of floating wind power platforms in the future.
