Opis:
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that can affect any organ system of the body. Abdominal TB can be gastrointestinal, lymph nodal, visceral or peritoneal. The gallbladder (GB) is rarely involved in abdominal TB as a primary organ. Extensive research literature on gallbladder TB is limited to case reports. There has been no review on this rare abdominal pathology. GB tuberculosis is a difficult diagnosis preoperatively. It is a rare differential among the more common gallbladder pathologies such as cholelithiasis, or a gallbladder malignancy. Typical histopathology of the resected specimen helps to establish this rare diagnosis. Subjecting every specimen to histopathological examination followed by medical treatment offers the chance of cure. Through this review, the authors attempt to provide an insight into this disease entity.

Opis:
Mesenchymal tumors of the gallbladder are rarely encountered in clinical practice. The Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) of the gallbladder is rarely encountered. These tumors most commonly arise from the interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC), the pacemakers of the intestinal system. There can be benign as well as malignant forms of GIST. The literature on GIST arising from the gallbladder wall is limited to a few case reports only. In extensive search of the indexed literature, only 9 cases of gallbladder GIST were retrieved. Based on the available literature these tumors are commonly found in females. They usually present with hypochondrial pain with or without other features of cholangitis. These tumors are usually malignant and warrant a radical surgical excision. The data on postoperative adjuvant therapy and survival is limited. The authors presented a review of the available literature on this rare pathology.

Opis:
Gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) is a rare pathology. We reviewed our hospital database for prognosticating the patients with post-cholecystectomy abdominal wall nodule. On reviewing the database we could find 7 patients who were diagnosed with GBC after simple cholecystectomy. Three of those patients were diagnosed after evaluation of a scar site nodule. Two patients were females and one patient was male. The mean age of the patients was 55 years. Two patients underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy and one patient underwent open cholecystectomy. The average time of detection of malignancy was 10.6 months. The gallbladder was not subjected to histopathological examination in all three patients. The patients had the unresectable disease on restaging workup. Two patients had adenocarcinoma while one patient had a neuroendocrine tumor. abdominal wall nodule is a rare marker of occult gallbladder carcinoma. Subjecting every gallbladder specimen to histopathology should help in improving the survival in these patients.

Opis:
Breast cancer has high metastatic potential with distant metastases involving mainly lungs, liver and bones. Less frequently it gives distant spread to other organs. Herein we would like to present a very rare case of an acute cholecystitis which turned out to be a metastatic breast cancer in previously healthy woman. A female patient, 64-years old, presented to the emergency department with symptoms of biliary colic and acute abdomen. During the emergency cholecystectomy, we diagnosed the gallbladder empyema with thickened wall. There were also multiple metastatic nodules in the peritoneal cavity and an excessive amount of free fluid. The emergency physicians diagnosing female patient with the acute abdominal symptoms and a breast cancer history might suspect malignant spread into abdominal organs including gallbladder. On the other hand, acute cholecystitis symptoms might be the first symptoms of metastatic process in the gallbladder from the unknown primary source, which may be breast.
