    Egalitarian perspective seems to be an integral part of the theory of stereotypes. The link between the two is so tide that, due to various factors, it appears to be transparent. Yet there are still some crucial methodological issues in question such as: what types of stereotypes research models are the most suitable ones within the egalitarian perspective? Does the egalitarian perspective requires specifi c ethical attitudes and imperatives? Does the egalitarian perspective applies to any kind of social stereotypes? The authoress touches the subjects referring to both traditional and modern research perspectives.

    Phenomenon of migration is present in modern world among every society. People are relocating due to career goals, educational opportunities or to settle down in better place to live. It is caused by their country’s economic situation, military conflict or individual reasons. In recent times number of Ukrainian students migrating to Poland has become arguable topic among media and academic societies. The purpose of the studies was to define attitude of Polish students to Ukrainization of universities and to ascertain the most common stereotypes od Ukrainian students. In order to measure variables the authors self-designed questionnaire including 5 Likert scale and semantic differential scale was used. The study included 100 students of different Cracow universities. Results of study has shown that polish students attitude to students from Ukraine is mostly positive, but there are deeply ingrained stereotypes about this social group

    The article shows the dynamics of mutual perception of Poles and Ukrainians that occur against the background of growing intensity of Polish-Ukrainian contact, which is especially clearly seen after Poland has joined the European Union. These contacts led to the situation, when the image of Ukrainians in the eyes of the Poles turned warmer and ceased to be as deeply as before rooted in history. Poles noticed some values they share with Ukrainians. The image of Poland and Poles in the eyes of Ukrainians has a lot of very positive elements: Poles are modern, agile and tolerant, and Poland is a country where the authorities care about people and respect their freedom and where there is a rapid economic growth. In the attitudes of Poles there are many inconsistencies and paradoxes: Ukrainian state is assessed as ineffective and affected with corruption, but at the same time Poles would like to see Ukraine as a member of the European Union. In the Polish associations with Ukraine one can see the echo of tragic events of the World War II, but at the same time the Ukrainians are widely accepted in Poland as workers and often do jobs that require a significant level of trust: such as baby sitting, taking care of elderly parents or cleaning up the private apartments. The growing number of immigrants from Ukraine in Poland can, however, lead to conflicts over access to the labour market, which may have broader social effect. Migration crisis in Europe contributes also to the growth of hostility towards immigrants in Polish society. This change may also affect the Ukrainians.

    For a couple of years already Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Cracow University has been hosting students from various parts of the world; and Ukrainian students are the most numerous . The growing number can bring, beside the undoubted benefits, not only of financial kind, conflicts on the grounds of culture differences, language, customs and traditions. This problem does not only apply to potential conflicts between Polish students and those coming from such exotic countries as African or Arabic ones but also conflicts with students from more familiar cultures. This article presents close analysis of the study carried out among Polish and Ukrainian students of Cracow university by means of qualitative and quantitative methods. The study shows the mutual image and stereotypes of both groups which may have influence on the process of academic integration of the above mentioned respondents.

    Many polish people perceive differences between the cultures and societies of the Western and Eastern Europe. For years Ukrainians were described in entirely pejorative terms, because of difficult relationships between Poland and Ukrainian Insurgent Army during the Second World War. The purpose of this article is to describe the basic terms of sociology such as nation, collective consciousness, national stereotypes, national identity, and the role and influence of the negative stereotypes on the image of Ukrainians in polish society. Polish people believe that their social values are in sharp contrast to the Ukrainians ones, but this negative perspective was abandoned after Orange revolution and revolution in 2014. The reports and analysis of the attitudes of public opinion emphasize that the Polish public have changed their opinion towards Ukrainians.

    Gender stereotypes are becoming the part of area interests on the different fields of study and they are the subject of the research, which it is possible to situate them in the borderland of social science and humanistic. The present text constitutes the attempt to show, what place in media sciences interests, gender stereotypes are seizing. The examples of foreign and polish examinations and some bringing up the issue of gender stereotypes publications, were summoned to taking about gender stereotypes into account media sciences optics. The last part contains the results of a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the opinion weeklies „Polityka”, „Newsweek Polska”, „Wprost”, „Gość Niedzielny” and „W Sieci” on the online site of this opinion weekly from January 1 to July 31, 2017, posted on their websites and showing stereotypes. The analysis showed that the editors join the discourse on gender stereotypes and show good practices of breaking still existing gender stereotypes. Gender stereotypes are still present in public space, as exemplified by the publications studied, however, it should be noted that editorial teams are trying to take action against gender stereotyping.
    Stereotypy płciowe wpisują się w obszar zainteresowań różnych dyscyplin naukowych oraz są przedmiotem badań, który można usytuować na pograniczu nauk społecznych i humanistycznych. Artykuł stanowi próbę ukazania, jakie miejsce zajmują one w dociekaniach medioznawców. Przywołane zostały przykłady badań zagranicznych i polskich, a także niektóre publikacje poruszające zagadnienie stereotypów płciowych, z uwzględnieniem medioznawczej optyki. W ostatniej części znajdują się wyniki analizy ilościowej i jakościowej publikacji tygodników „Polityka”, „Newsweek Polska”, „Wprost”, „Gość Niedzielny” i „W Sieci” z okresu od 1 stycznia do 31 lipca 2017 roku, zamieszczonych na ich stronach internetowych, a dotyczących stereotypów. Analiza wykazała, że redakcje włączają się w dyskurs na temat stereotypów płciowych oraz pokazują dobre praktyki ich przełamywania. Stereotypy płciowe są obecne w publicznej przestrzeni, czego przykładem są badane publikacje, jednakże należy zauważyć, iż redakcje starają się podejmować działania przeciwdziałające stereotypizacji płciowej.

    Opis:
    The knowledge about mentally disabled people is usually learned by healthy people from parents, friends and some mes from teachers. The opinion on the mentally disabled forms through observations, stories about difficulties and often by accidental experiences. It results in the image of a disable person as someone, who is gauche and dependent. The social perception of people with mental disability, in comparison to social perception of those with physical disability, causes problems as it includes negative attitudes and prejudice. In order to avoid such attitudes healthy children should integrate with disabled, sick and different children in natural social environment. The experience of any kind of “otherness”, competent information on disability and other dysfunctions as well as openness to people may help to reduce harmful stereotypes. It is very important to support social awareness of the reasons why mental disability exists and how mentally disabled people struggle with life. The rise of such awareness may trigger the changes in perception of the disabled and improve their living standards.
    Osoby pełnosprawne informacje dotyczące funkcjonowania osób z niepełnosprawnością czerpią od rodziców, kolegów, rzadziej nauczycieli. Na pozostałą wiedzę składa się ich własne przekonanie oparte m.in. na obserwacjach, co buduje obraz człowieka z niepełnosprawnością jako nieporadnego, zależnego od innych. Z tego powodu niezbędna jest wczesna integracja dzieci pełnosprawnych, z niepełnosprawnością, przewlekle chorych i tych wszystkich, których wzajemne kontakty wynikają z naturalnych warunków społecznych. Artykuł pokazuje, że doświadczenie w kontaktach z wszelkiego rodzaju „innością”, rzetelna wiedza na temat niepełnosprawności i chorób oraz otwartość wobec ludzi, pozwalają łatwiej zrozumieć potrzeby osób z niepełnosprawnością, a także pozbyć się na ich temat stereotypów, społecznego dystansu czy niezrozumienia. Wciąż konieczna jest praca nad podnoszeniem świadomości społecznej na temat przyczyn powstawania niepełnosprawności intelektualnej i funkcjonowania osób z niepełnosprawnościami, co przyczyni się do zmiany postrzegania tych osób, a przez to poprawi jakość ich życia.

    In this article the authors are describing the situation of Ukrainian youth who come to Poland and start their education in Polish high schools. What do the first days of their stay in Poland look like? Do their expectations about Poland meet the reality? What do they complain about? What do they like about Poland? What problems are highlighted by their Polish teachers from one of Cracow educational institutions? How are these problems addressed? What should be done to improve the situation of young Ukrainians who, after graduating from Polish high schools, will soon be admitted into Polish universities? Those are only some of the questions that the authors are trying to answer by analysing the results of the study conducted in one of the boarding schools in Cracow.
    Autorki w swoim artykule opisują sytuację młodzieży ukraińskiej, która po przyjeździe do Polski podejmuje naukę w polskich szkołach średnich. Jak wyglądają ich pierwsze dni w Polsce? Jak wypada konfrontacja wyobrażeń na temat Polski z rzeczywistością? Na co narzekają? Co im się w Polsce podoba? Na jakie problemy związane z obecnością młodych Ukraińców wskazują ich polscy opiekunowie – wychowawcy w jednej z krakowskich placówek edukacyjnych? Jak te problemy są rozwiązywane? Co należałoby zrobić, aby poprawić sytuację młodych Ukraińców w Polsce, którzy, kończąc tu szkoły średnie, za chwilę staną się studentami polskich uczelni? To tylko kilka z wielu pytań, na które starają się odpowiedzieć, analizując wyniki swoich badań zrealizowanych na terenie jednej z placówek opiekuńczych (internatu szkolnego) w Krakowie.
