    The following article is an attempt to present the phenomenon of xenophobia, on the one hand, as an aversion to everything what is foreign, on the other, as a specific way of feeling which in some sense is a behaviour understood for every man. In this paper, other phenomena similar to xenophobia such as racism or discrimination which have a lot of shared areas with xenophobia as well as their most important mechanisms, were also described. Moreover, the issue concerning community was raised without which xenophobia could not actually occur. The article also includes the chosen examples showing signs of xenophobia, on Polish as well as foreign ground, concerning the latest events related to immigrants and refugees which we can see the most frequently in the media and web portals. The aim of this work was to compare particular fields of study: Security Studies, Management and Psychology in terms of intensity of xenophobic attitude, using self-designed questionnaire consisting of 21 statements in total. According to predictions, it turned out that Security Studies students indicate the strongest xenophobic attitudes in all three aspects: ethnic, religious and homosexual, while Psychology students the weakest. However, Management students were placed each time between Security Studies and Psychology students. Most probably the field of study is linked with the intensity of xenophobic attitude. Security Studies students will more often pay attention to something what is strange, untypical as well as threatening in surroundings in order to minimize the possible danger. Psychology students learn the acceptance conduct, not to judge on the basis of fragmentary information which very often requires devoting time and other sources. Security Studies students often cannot afford to do this.

    The author discusses the current state of alternative education and describes views presented in scientific literature and in the media, showing also Polish parents interest in alternative education. In the main part of the article a research method was presented as an alternative method to work with children at school, outside of school and at university. The idea was shown on the basis of cooperation between Childrens University and Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski University in Krakow, the outcome of which was a series of classes for pedagogy students and a series of lessons for children conducted with the use of alternative research method which took place on the university premises. Finally the author assigns the presented method (following Kupisiewiczs thought) to the category of incomplete alternative approaches which refer to individual elements of educational process.

    There are many arguments in favour of the statement that it is not only the concept of sustainable development but also – and perhaps most importantly – the alleviation of anthropogenic impact on climate change, along with the simultaneous adaptation and an increase in resilience to the effects of this change, will become the fundamental notions that will shape the relationships between architecture and nature in the near future. This leads to the necessity of including this subject matter in teaching in a broader manner. The article employs a qualitative method based on confronting the current discourse on climate change and design and construction practice with the attitudes of students observed during teaching. The theoretical scope of the study was outlined on the basis of a study of the literature, whilst the research material consisted of selected end-term and thesis projects. The article also includes a postulative section, which points to the subject matter that should, in the opinion of the author, be more broadly represented in the curriculum.
    Wiele argumentów przemawia za tym, że nie tyle koncepcja zrównoważonego rozwoju, co przede wszystkim łagodzenie antropogenicznego wpływu na zmiany klimatyczne, przy jednoczesnej adaptacji i zwiększaniu odporności na skutki tych zmian, będą podstawowymi pojęciami kształtującymi w najbliższej przyszłości związki architektury z naturą. Pociąga to za sobą konieczność szerszego włączenia omawianej problematyki do procesu dydaktycznego. W artykule zastosowano metodę jakościową polegającą na konfrontowaniu aktualnego dyskursu na temat zmian klimatycznych i praktyki projektowo-realizacyjnej z postawami studentów obserwowanymi w trakcie pracy dydaktycznej. Teoretyczne pole badań zakreślono na podstawie studiów literaturowych, natomiast źródłowym materiałem badawczym były wybrane projekty semestralne i dyplomowe. W artykule zawarto także część postulatywną wskazującą na problematykę, która zdaniem autora powinna znaleźć szersze odzwierciedelnie w programach nauczania.

    Celem artykułu jest analiza przebiegu i ocena rezultatów działań w ramach warsztatów projektowych przeprowadzonych wiosną 2020 r., w czasie pandemii Covid-19, ze studentami Wydziału Architektury Krakowskiej Akademii im. Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego oraz Katedry Architektury na Wydziale Inżynierii i Projektowania Uniwersytetu Hosei w Tokio. Tematem warsztatów było badanie pojęcia mieszkalnictwa publicznego w XXI w. na przykładzie osiedla Nishi-Yamato Danchi zbudowanego w Tokio w latach 1960–1970. W badaniu wykorzystano materiały zebrane przez autora – uczestnika i obserwatora warsztatów. Wyniki badań potwierdzają możliwości praktycznego wykorzystania ogólnodostępnych zasobów wizualizacji powierzchni ziemi, uzyskanych dzięki teledetekcji lotniczej i satelitarnej, oraz efektywnego komunikowania się przez Internet w czasie działalności dydaktycznej. Międzynarodowe warsztaty projektowe poszerzyły wiedzę uczestników na temat architektury mieszkaniowej, skłoniły do poprawy jakości kształcenia studentów, były także źródłem tematów badawczych np. dotyczących architektury transkulturowej.
    The aim of the article is to analyze the course and evaluate the results of activities as part of the design workshops of the design studio conducted in spring 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, with students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University and the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering and Design of the Hosei University in Tokyo. The topic of the workshop was to study the concept of public housing in the 21st century using the example of the Nishi-Yamato Danchi housing estate built in Tokyo in 1960–1970. The study used materials collected by the author – participant and observer of the workshops. The results of the research confirm the possibility of practical use of generally available resources of visualization of the earth’s surface obtained thanks to aerial and satellite remote sensing, as well as effective communication via the Internet during teaching activities. International design workshops broaden the participants’ knowledge of residential architecture, encourage the improvement of the quality of student education, and are also a source of research topics, for example on transcultural architecture.
