Opis:
Using the density matrix theory, we have studied the double tunneling induced transparency slow light in the double asymmetry quantum dot molecules. With applied electric field, double tunneling induced transparency occur in the same time. Four absorption peaks are found near the resonance energy level in the absorption spectrum and the absorption peak can be tuned by the applied electric field. The velocity and bandwidth of the multiple-windows slow light can also be controlled by the applied electric field. In our model, with Te =0.1meV, we can get about 0.001c and 20GHz bandwidth in each transparency window. Such a property may be applied in all optical buffers, optical switching and filter.

Opis:
In this paper, polarization dependence of patterning effects in quantum well semiconductor optical amplifier-based wavelength conversion is experimentally and theoretically investigated. The carrier and photon density rate equations are numerically solved by using the time-domain traveling wave model. The material gain calculation, including the strain effect in the active layer, is based on the k·p method. By comparing experimental and computational results, it is demonstrated that the polarization of the injection signal has a significant influence on the gain recovery time of quantum well semiconductor optical amplifier. Under the cross-polarized signals injection, the output signals suffer the weakest and strongest patterning effects both for unstrained and tensile strained quantum well semiconductor optical amplifiers.

Opis:
We propose an optical system employing a compound parabolic concentrator for near infrared spectroscope in noninvasive blood components testing. A truncated two-stage compound parabolic concentrator system is designed, which consists of a normal first-stage compound parabolic concentrator and a truncated second-stage compound parabolic concentrator. Using advanced ray tracing technique, the optical efficiencies of truncated two-stage compound parabolic concentrator system, ellipsoidal mirror system and non-optical-focusing mirror system are calculated to be 25.4%, 22.4% and 4.0%, respectively. Furthermore, the total length of truncated two-stage compound parabolic concentrator is only about 68 mm while the ellipsoidal mirror is 110 mm. It indicates that the truncated two-stage compound parabolic concentrator system enhances the ability of concentrating human diffuse transmission light, and it is a benefit to improve signal-to-noise ratio of noninvasive biochemical analysis system efficiently. Due to the advantage of small size, it tends to achieve a miniature instrument.

Opis:
The digital holographic phase microscopy (DHPM) technique which has been proposed for cellular morphology and dynamic analysis yielded highly desirable results. However, for nucleated cells (especially white blood cells (WBCs)), their submicroscopic structure has not yet been deconstructed through a phase unwrapping method due to the heterogeneity of an internal phase. By analyzing the phase heterogeneity of subclasses of WBCs, the typical phase models of them are built first in this paper; using the simulation method, the wrapped phase distributions of these models are obtained. However, by optimizing the wrapped phase maps and analyzing the relationships between them and typical blood cells, their features are selected and extracted. Then the models built are sorted out from each other successfully without unwrapping via analyzing these extracted features, which provides a valuable approach and technological base for the classification and identification of blood cells.
